Pretty tiles and posh staff uniforms don't convince me. Over-rated, over-priced...way over-priced. Tourists love it, locals avoid it. Great food though, but still not worth the bar prices.

Been here a couple of times now. The first for a quick pint after a walk up Standedge the second for a few more refreshing pints of Golden Pippin and some well deserved hearty grub. The pub is really friendly and the Landlord is a gent; advising us on, and offering us tasters on the cask ales.
The food menu is varied and very reasonably priced and the quality is top notch. The only negative is that the pub closes for a couple of hours in the afternoon, but that made the beer taste all the more sweeter - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

The Rambler Country House, Edale
After a walk and a serious soaking we popped in the Rambler for a quick pint. Average beer, rude manager. I will never go in again which is a shame because the place could be a little gold mine. Unfortunately they will always make money off the daytrippers heading over the Pennine Way.

Terrible.
After a very long, wet, walk, me and a friend popped in here after looking at the reasonably priced menu outside. We needed some hearty grub and a good pint. Instead we were welcomed by a bitter, middle aged woman who found joy in completely ignoring us and disappearing somwehere upstairs. When she returned she continued to blank us. We couldn't believe how rude she was, we laughed in disbelief and walked out. The worst service I have received in a long, long time.

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn, Castleton
This is a lovely, old pub in the heart of Castleton - after a long walk me and my fellow rambler stopped for quick pint and we weren't disappointed. The barmaid was lovely, very friendly and chatty, and the beer was spot on too. We didn't eat, but plenty of punters were and the food looked and smelt great. There was fresh fish on the specials board which was very reasonably priced plus plenty of choice from the regular menu.
Highly recommended!
