New very hardworking landlord and landlady as well as magnificent staff who although overworked (due to the pubs popularity and Sam Smiths policy of not spending any more money than they have to) always give great service. A new food menu has just been introduced and looks fine altough I haven't actually tried it yet.The one thing that currently lets it down is the rundown state of the Gents although I believe that they are about to be refurbished if 'Sam Smith' puts his hand in his pocket. Overall a great pub that I often pass a couple of hours in.

Overpriced for some foreign beers with a premium of at least 60p compared to other pubs selling the same product. The pub itself is too small and the furniture too uncomfortable and as a result you don't feel comfortable in stopping for more than one pint.As well as this the toilets are in need of a refurbishment and it would not be a pub that I would drink in if I was in York as there are a lot of better ones around the city.

A good friendly locals pub with always something going on. From live music to the regular Thursday quiz and now a curry and a pint for a fiver night on Tuesday from 5.00 onwards.

From August 1st, It is not open on Monday(except bank holidays)Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday until 4pm.

Good News
It appears that the pub is to be kept as a pub with new owners from mid August. If it is,it hopefully still be one of the best pubs in the country for beer and atmospher in the whole country.

The best beer pub in Hull for variety and quality.The one thing that lets it down are the toilets as they are pokey and in need of a refurb. For that reason I have rated it an 8 rather than a 9 or 10.

The pubs present tenants Idy and Sal are leaving this weekend. The new tenant takes over from Monday next. Hopefully the pub will continue to flourish under the new management although only time will tell.
