Great pub to visit when you fancy a change from the Market Porter. It is also busy though. There are heaters outside so it is still possible to drink outside in the winter. Unfortunately the well-kept beer gets a touch cold...

Great pub. One of the best. There are always interesting beers to try as there are normally about 8 real beers on tap.
The pub is very crowded, but it is worth it. Best to come on a Sunday afternoon and explore the world of beer.

The Pride of Spitalfields, Shoreditch
The most down to earth pub within walking distance of the City. It's another world. Only go if you never feel self-conscious wearing a suit.
The beer they serve is of very high quality. It is a pub mainly populated by "regulars".
There was a particularly mad man in there once. He drank whiskey chasers with every pint and kept talking loudly to himself.
Camra recommend the pub as a traditionally friendly east-end local.

Don't get me started. Avoid if you don't like essex, lager and crowded places.

Great choice of beers. I love Deuchars IPA! Scottish ales tend to be made more traditionally.
Don't bother with the standard, "chain pub" food though. Come and enjoy the fine beer and then visit the Artillery Arms just up Bunhill Row.

The Artillery Arms, Old Street
Fantastic pub! Down to earth with the best pint of london pride I have ever tasted.
As Dan "Mr. Work" knows, beware the exploding ketchup!
I like walking between this and the st. pauls tavern. Deuchars IPA is good in there...

Strange pub. Quite pretentious as it is full of art students - or whatever they are. They wear funny cloths, have piercings, and usually wear a down-trodden expression.
Well worth a visit though. Don't miss the room downstairs as this will provide more interesting things to look at.
Obviously no real ale!

Crap real ales, although they do serve an interesting Belgian cherry beer, which is nice.
Overpriced.
Essex girls gather here on Friday nights, so could be worth a visit if you are feeling lazy.
The food is of good quality - the restaurant is seperate from the bar. We're talking 15 for a main course though.

I disagree slightly with Mr. Lash here.
Although a good place for watching football the real ales are kept very badly.
I do find myself returning though. I'm not sure why because Dirty Dicks is better... Variety? I suppose it does have a down-to-earth atmosphere which is unusual for the city. With all the development nearby it will probably change.

The Pitcher and Piano, Bishopsgate
Full of Essex slags as far as I could tell. No proper beer either... The men all have "trendy", spiky hair.
Try Dirty Dicks next door, unless you feel like getting your dick dirty.

The Sir Paul Pindar, Bishopsgate
There are far too many sh*t pubs in the City and this is one of them. Characterless with disappointing beer...
I am being a touch harsh. Relatively it is alright.

Nice pub with well-kept Young's beers. Upstairs normally provides some seeting, if you don't mind being served by a strange lezbian with short hair that changes colour often.
Good pub for the City.

Over priced and crowded.
The only reason why I wouldn't burn it down is that it supplies good wine to be drunk in the architecturally superior Exchange Square on summer evenings or lunches. It is a great place to drink as many city girls come to display themselves. The steps allow an advantageous view from above or below. GREAT.
However you can always pay 1/4 of the price and drink wine bought in an off-licence. Or mop up all the left-overs... Field day for tramps.
It makes for a good public toilet if you do not mind a queue.

I can't understand why anyone would go to a chain pub like this...
ming can be forgiven because she is probably female and foreign.

The Broadgate Exchange, Broadgate
Mr. Lash has summed this place up brilliantly!
The Directors and the Bombardier are the worst kept pints I have come across for a long time!
I have had a fair few arguments with the unhelpful staff. I was almost attacked by this very ugly looking bar maid.
Because of its location it can be very packed. Lots of suits...
It makes me angry to just recall this disgrace of a pub....

Oh my god!
Bang in the middle of the distastful americanised area of surrey quays, this pub is exactly as you would expect.
Go there to spot some burberry caps, if that is your thing. Might find some material to post to chavscum.com!
I can't tell you what the beer is like as I did a 180 degree turn as soon as i stepped inside.
Next to the Bingo Hall if you like to granny spot!

The Ship and Whale, Rotherhithe
I agree that pub quizzes are annoying and a reason to steer clear of a pub.
The beer they serve is of an excellent quality. Sheperd Neame.
The pub is slightly lacking in atmosphere nowadays. The place always seems to be completely empty. This all means that it is a great pub to have a quite drink in. Never hard to find a table!
Recommended.

Oh dear. Too many chavs in this sh*tty modern looking pub. The Ship and Whale at least has some decent beer...
22 Dec 2004 15:32
Crap beer. There are no cask ales...
A bit small inside, and an incredibly smokey atmosphere.
A good pub for the summer though. There is seeting outside where you float on the dock.
Might find a couple of chavs...

All Bar One, Oxford
Why should this exist in a City with so many great pubs?
Characterless, sterile and serves rubbish beer.
