The Star, South Harrow

Used to be "The Constellation" Built in 1957. Rubbish then, rubbish now.

The Timber Carriage, Harrow

A terrible pub, but part of my teenage rites of pasage. I used to be consigned to the Gents in 1968 to roll joints, as I was the only one of our crowd who could do it properly!

The Weald Stone Inn, Harrow

Used to be "The Red Lion". Why isn't it still?

The Sarsen Stone, Wealdstone

Sad ex Wetherspoons. Full of Wealdstone's functioning alcoholics, and believe me there's plenty!

The Half Moon, Harrow

Good news from JohnR. Back in the 80s I was there every Saturday night for the live jazz and the lovely beer. I may return!

The Eastcote Arms, Eastcote

Have to agree. If they sorted out all those probs I'd go there on a regular basis (only a 10 minute bus ride)and so would lots of others I'm sure.
Let's get the 282 bus full of commuters to the "Eastcote"

The Horseshoe Bar, South Harrow

Well my mate agrees with everything that anon says. I haven't been there for about two years, but if my mate (a functioning alcoholic) thinks it's good, it must be!

Venue 5, Eastcote

No, this is what was "The Clay Pigeon". "The Manor" is still in business as a chav/a****hole/lager lout establishment

Misty Moon, Northwood

Sadly, I have to agree with the previous posts. The "Misty Moon" is now (allegedly) the cocaine capital of North West Middlesex. I'm told that even the landlord is a user. People are going to "The Reindeer" as the best pub in Nortwood. "The Reindeer" has been the WORST pub in the world for the last 30 years, but is now profiting from the decline of "The Misty Moon".
A very sad reflection on the current state of society.

William Jolle, Northwood Hills

Now has a new "over 21s" policy. The landlord says he's done it to get out the chavs and to try and make it the best pub in the area. He's also been notified that the pub will be in the "Good Beer Guide" for 2007 and has proudly put his "GBG" sicker in the window.
I hereby uprate my rating to 9 (nobody, apart from Bo Derrick has a perfect 10!).

The Three Tuns, Uxbridge

Is anonymous talking about the right pub? I'm not aware of any management change; Brian has been in charge for about 100 years!!!
Also Brian does not suffer chavs, or any other ****holes gladly, which makes this a nice pub for middle aged boozers like me.

Fastduck, sorry that your meal was bad. I only use the place as a "boozer" and my recent experience has been that things have improved since my previous comment. Much less "sorry not available" and since the new legislation the longer opening hours have meant greater hangovers!
My advice would be to eat in restaurants and drink in pubs.
Also, from previous experience, I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a decent response from Wetherspoons customer service; I really don't think they are interested.

The Crown, Cricklewood

Anon, 21st December, I too grew up in Cricklewood,(Oaklands Road) but my dad always refused to go to "The Crown", preferring "The Cricklewood Hotel".
I agree with you that Cricklewood has gone down the pan, in fact a right toilet these days.

No. 8, Willesden

This used to be "The Case is Altered". In the 50s I used to come here with my dad every fortnight, as in the rooms upstairs they had the loan club. This was a signifigant feature of working class life at that time. You paid in 5 bob (25p) a week (10 bob a fortnight) and in December each year (Christmas geddit?)you could take out your money, or keep it in there. If you had a sudden financial crisis at any time you could get a loan, depending on how much you had in your account. A bit like modern Credit unions.
Dad would pay his 10 bob, then go downstairs for a pint and I would get a lemonade and a packet of crisps and wait outside. Then we'd get the 666 trolleybus to Craven Park and then the 662 trolleybus back to Wembley.

The Castle, Tooting Broadway

I used to come here 30 years ago on a Thursday night to see "Basil's Balls Up Band".
Do they still do live music?

The Northwood Hills, Northwood Hills

Horrible pub, haven't been there since about 1975, BUT was where Elton John, as local lad Reg Dwight from Potter Street started his professional career, playing piano on a Saturday night as a 16 year old for 10 bob and all they could collect in a bucket, chaperoned by his admiring mum, Sheila and her boyfriend Fred (always called Derf by Reg).

William Jolle, Northwood Hills

Agree with fastduck, but they quite often have a lot of "Sorry not available" on offer.
I took my American cousin in for Sunday roast beef.
She was delighted and thought she was in an old English pub. Amazed when I told her the premises used to sell bathrooms!
Only 7/10 because of sometimes poor service and lack of beer.
Landlord excellent.
