The Limes Hotel, Needham Market

Excellent meal and beer! Lovely place would highly recommend, even though it's owned by a Cattermole.

The Lion, Needham Market

We phoned to booked a table for 4 people and were told "sorry we don't take bookings for 5 or less". Fair enough, we still turned up to find the pub busy and no free tables, that's the chance that we took. However, we spotted a table for THREE reserved! When we complained and asked why they had reserved a table for 3 yet they wouldn't for 4, the waitress just shrugged her shoulders and said "I don't know". She didn't make any effort to find out, or say, I'll see what I can do. The attutide was basically she couldn't care less. We left and went to the The Limes Hotel further up and the meal was lovely, We shall never darken the doorstep of the Lion again and we will tell friends what happened to us... remember word of mouth is more powerful than any advertising!

The Brook Inn, Washbrook

Gary and Anne Cornwell have returned to The Brook (Nov 2009).

Curry night on Wednesday was a success; fully booked and a good selection, plentiful, worth every penny of the 15.95 a head.

The Bristol Arms, Shotley Gate

Had their lovely fish and chips here yesterday, the two for 9.95 deal is no longer, but now 5.50 each. Still damn good value along with bread and butter and mushy peas (extra). Beer on offer was Adnams Bitter (3.25); Broadside and Greene King Abbot Ale (3.65), bit pricy but nonetheless, very good. Toilets are clean and smell fresh although lack of hot water in the gents is not a good thing. Busy, lovely views over Harwich and Felixstowe.

Belstead Arms, Ipswich

This pub is a typical estate pub from the 1960s. The beer was terrible, warm and overpriced. Won't be going back here again.
