The Marble Arch, Manchester

My only complaint is against myself - I love the Marble's own beers too much to try the guests most of the time. Excellent food (black pudding salad last time) to soak up the ever more excellent ales - Janine's One my current favourite. Why am I only allowed to mark it 10 out of 10 and not 11 or 12? Well worth the trip every single time

The Crown Inn, Stockport

Never EVER fails me! Visiting football fans seek this place out above all others and for good reason. I always get a great pint (or six) and good conversation on the all too infrequent occasions I get back to Stockport.

The Malt Shovel, Edinburgh

I'm afraid I have to disagree with the last posting. I was due in here for a leaving do so checked it out the day before as well. On both days the staff were really pleasant and friendly. The beer was clear as a bell and although Deuchars and Landlord weren't on early doors, both came on later that evening. Nice pub, well kept beer and happy smiling staff. I think the last poster may have been very unlucky or very disgruntled for some reason ...

The Newcastle Arms, Newcastle

Spent a very pleasant afternoon on Thursday. Great selection of beers but especially liked the Durham White Friar! As everyone else says really friendly regulars and excellent staff. Special thanks to Ian and the lads who chummed me to the Bodega afterwards. See you next time lads - Jase

The Rake, London Bridge

No separate entry for The Rake yet but it's well worth a visit. Friendly knowledgeable staff and fridges that are to beer drinkers what The Chocolate Factory was to Charlie! Fantastic place - see you again next week !!
