Popped in on a quiet Thursday night. Pleasant decor - seats big and comfy. Well, yes the decoration style is rather 50's coffee bar which i found rather comforting. Will definitely come back.

Following on from the comments concerning this pubs proximity to The Riverside Studios. In the late fifties Tony Hancock and Sid James used this pub regularly while filming Hancock's Half Hour. They called it 'Studio 4'

I put the building location and ambience above the people who work in the places, hence The Palm Tree is perfect. As you approach it you realise that it is a survivor amongst the re-development around it. It is a very beautiful pub. The canal hints at another age and adds to the whole atmosphere of the place. Highly recommended.

Can't understand why this has such a low rating. Top notch food in a tastefully renovated building. Wouldn't recommend it as a 'drinking' pub but perfect for a meal to break up a crawl.

Bow Road is a pretty noisy and hectic road - step 200 yards from it and you enter this pleasant, homely pub. Sat out front with my friends and all was well.

The Royal Inn on the Park, Victoria Park
Lovely location in a quite upmarket and 'arty' part of Hackney. Very friendly staff. Recommended if you're in the area.

Visited this as a late Thursday afternoon (6ish) meeting point with some mates - not overly busy with 'suits' and Charlotte Street and 'Noho' is a pleasant area. A good, unspoilt interior and the staff seemed okay to me.

Although I've lived in Hammersmith (and, unbeknownst to me, very near to this pub) for 7 years, I have been using a place called The Grove which is more of a 'bar' really and not really my bag. I struggled valiantly (and ridiculously) on until looking at BeerintheEvening for ideas and happened on this delightful place. It's like a village pub but without the village which strikes me as being perfect. The atmosphere is relaxed and not at all 'shouty' as so many Hammersmith boozers are. Thoroughly recommended and 10 from me because I know it will be my regular of choice until I pass onto the great boozer in the sky.

Lord Tredegar, Mile End
A pleasant, wood panelled interior helps greatly in this slightly tired looking boozer. The main attraction is the beer garden which is just lovely and which backs onto a main train line - rather thrilling to be yards away from a high speed train hurtling through East London
