Bounded into the Fountain with three friends on Wednesday 3rd August at 9.47pm. An extremely warm welcome was afforded us by the drinkers at the bar who seemed unable to stop laughing!! 6 Aug 2011 21:12

The Wenlock Arms, Hoxton

Bounded into the Wenlock with three friends on Wednesday 3rd August at 8.33pm and was somewhat taken aback to find a total of two people in the pub. After I recovered from the shock of such a small clientele in the Greatest Pub in the History of Pubs Ever I managed to tell one of my friends what I wanted to drink. My half of Harvey's Tom Paine was simply DIVINE. There were at least five or six other ales on offer, including one that had a photograph of some old geezer amateurishly sellotaped to the pump clip. We would have had another half here but time was pressing on!

6 Aug 2011 21:05

The Old Fountain, Old Street

Another fabulous evening at this pub at the end of a City crawl with three friends. On the pumps I espied Dark Star Porter, Downton New Forest Ale and Adnams Abbey. I had two pints of Woodforde's Wherry which were absolute nectar. Atmosphere as convivial as ever and surprisingly busy for a Monday night.
One of London's premiere pubs for Real Ale.

19 Nov 2009 22:30

The Pride of Spitalfields, Shoreditch

Bounded into this pub on Friday lunchtime for a long overdue return visit. The pub is unchanged since my last call. Fullers Pride and ESB, Sharps Doom Bar and Crouch Vale Brewers Gold on the pumps. I had two wholly exquisite pints of Brewers Gold.
I did not eat here having eaten earlier but the food looked good - the gentleman sitting next to me had a generous portion of fish and chips on his plate. Looking at the menu board, prices are incredibly cheap - and 'Mary's Pantry' was doing brisk business - people were bypassing the bar and heading straight for the food counter!
There was a relaxed atmosphere in the pub during my visit.
This is an absolute gem of a pub - do visit!
