The Bag O' Nails, Bristol

Thank you so much Luke. That's very helpful. Great attitude!

The Victoria, Clifton

It's all been said before. An excellent pub with excellent people and excellent beer. A real throwback to the proper local pubs of yesteryear. A warm welcome from Paul and Dee and a great choice of fantastic quality ales. Good stuff guys.

The Richmond Public House and Kitchen, Clifton

Come on Luke. What's the matter with a little self congratulation. Have recently moved house and this is now my local. Seem to have stumbled upon a winner. Very friendly service from all. Ok, beers are a tad pricey and not particularly adventurous but this is a tied house in Clifton. Deuchars IPA, Caledonian and Bombadier are the regular offerings and all kept well. A special mention for the food which i have always found to be excellent.

The Three Tuns, Hotwells

Neds has left the building! It is a great shame that Ned has left the Tuns. However, thanks to the hard work of the previous incumbents there should be little to change about this pub. Thankfully this seems to be the case. Gypsys Kiss still grace Mondays nights and the very impresive Arbour Ales still provide the backbone of the offerings from the bar. Keep up the good work!

The Tors, Belstone

Fantastic pub to recharge after a days slog on Dartmoor. Have to agree with 'Jeff W. Langford' the steak and stilton pie is a winner! Huge selection of single malts and some local beers in addition. NOTE: we were there in the winter and the opening times were variable. Best to phone ahead to avoid a wasted journey. Hope to return this winter.

The Woodborough, Winscombe

Large county pub with separate bar and restaurant. The beer prices are a little on the steep side but well kept. Friendly, courteous service and a very nice Sunday Roast which was tasty and plentiful. Would recommend.

The Eldon House, Bristol

Cheers Beatles38. Yes the Eldon has now reopened. The new extension is a welcome addition. Tried the Gem and the Golden Hare last night both of which were excellent. Will return.

The Hatchet Inn, Bristol

The Hatchet attracts a wide range of people and and is welcoming to all. A popular venue for a pre-concert drink it can get very busy. The ales are mainstream and lagers standard fare but very respectable. Fairly large outside area with patio heaters and parasols (rain-stoppers!) is a bonus in the middle of town. Not everyone's cup of beer but worth a visit.

The Llandoger, Bristol

Went in recently and was grossly disappointed. This is one of the oldest and most famous pubs in Bristol but is now infamous and just old. My pint of stale Butcombe was served in a plastic glass that was so soft you could barely drink from it. On a positive note we did get free peanuts. Unfortunately these were served in the bottom of the pint i ordered! Come on guys. Must try harder!

The Eldon House, Bristol

Nice Bath Ales house which i believe is still closed due to the addition of a new conservatory extension. Beers always well looked after and service is friendly as are the locals. If the landlord is reading can you let us know when you are re-opening?

The Ship and Castle, Congresbury

Visited recently having not been for a few years. I think that this pubs conversion to the dark side (a restaurant with a bar, rather than a pub serving drinks) is now complete. Hence the pretty expensive bar list. Have not tried the food so cannot comment but what was coming out of the kitchen seemed well received. The biggest selling point has to be the large garden which is fantastic for a sunny Sunday afternoon.

The Bag O' Nails, Bristol

This is my local so you may decide to take what i say with a pinch of salt. On the other hand you may decide that i must know it quite well. So here goes. You known those kind of pubs that look like they've been decked out by ikea, complete with glitterball and nasty plastic chairs that you slide off of after 5 or 6 pints? Well this isn't one of those.
Unspoilt, old fashioned ale house that has between 6 and 8 different real ales on at any given time all of which are very well kept. Regular beers include Palmers copper ale, Crop circle from hopback and several from the GWB brewery. I think you will struggle to find a better real ale house in Bristol.

The Shakespeare, Bristol

What a blessed relief from the other dross situated around the harbourside. If your idea of a good night out is a punch up followed by puking on your tracksuit then go elsewhere. A very nice pub with a good selection of beers including guest ales which change fairly frequently. There is a good quiz night on Tuesdays which is well attended.

The Horse and Groom, Bristol

Pretty much agree with the previous review. This is a proper, honest working man's boozer. It's the kind of place you meet your mates for a couple of swift lagers and at a reasonable price too. Drinks are just the standard fare, a couple of lagers, cider and an ale but i've never had a bad pint here.
