For a Spoons, this is excellent. Gets very busy at lunchtimes, but service is generally very efficient and it's well staffed, unlike many in the chain. very clean too and the cask ale is always spot on. Worth a visit.

For service, this is easily Southampton's worst Weatherspoons. Always understaffed, no matter what time of day it is. Avoid.

The Pensioners Arms, Southampton
Atmosphere now much nicer now the Geordie bloke has gone. Worth a visit. Beer is decent too.

Still very busy on Friday/Saturday nights, but a must if you're in the Bedford place area- nice classy place to either start or end your night. Barmaids have always been the best looking in Southampton. Beers are always good to, there are only three handpumps but the range seems to change weekly. Word is that the freehold is available right now for anyone with a spare 1m.

Agree with the last post about the jukebox, but the staff have always been excellent when I've been in, and the beer is still some of the best in Southampton. Good festival last year as well.

I have to say, this is probably the best pub in Southampton at the moment. Good selection of local and regional beer that is well looked after, warm and friendly landlord and staff, fantastic beer garden with a BBQ and the jukebox piping music out to you, good menu with tasty pub grub, decent customers too- never seen any trouble despite regular weekend visits. Not to be missed if you're in the area.

The Seven Stars, Canterbury
very good pub. Karaoke on Wednesdays and the quality of some of the singers is remarkably good. Large student crowd in the evenings during term time but always a very good atmosphere. Serves LP and Spitfire as well as Old Rosie cider- all very well kept. Definately worth a visit. Suprised by the low score.
