Imperial Arms, West Brompton

Recently become a gay bar. When I was last in there, it was mostly empty, but the few who were in were as high as kites. My friend & I sat down to try & enjoy our drinks, but they were spoiled by the embarrassing display put on by one of the bars managers. Skipping around, running in and out of the pub and playing awful sub-standard dance music so loud that it could be heard half way up the Lille Road. The cider wasn't very well kept either. An admirable decision to try & turn this notoriously dismal pub into a gay bar (much needed in the area, since the great close down of all the Earls Court bars). Unfortunately, if this is the best they can do then they really shouldn't have bothered. Avoid!

The Blue Boar, Aldbourne

One of the nicest pubs I have ever been in. As a regular visitor for over 30 years I have always found the staff go the extra mile in making your visit an enjoyable one. A wide selection of beers & ciders are kept well & the food is delicious. In 1971 Aldbourne & the Blue Boar was used as a location in the BBC series Doctor Who & as a result fans often flock to the village to see the various locations. .

Chase Gate, Wedge Mill

Having memories of this pub through its various incarnations over the years I decided to pay the Chase Gate a visit for Sunday dinner. Awful! The place has now become a kind of licensed McDonalds, with screaming kids and shouting parents taking up practically every table. A typically unimaginative menu which led to bland and boring food. When you ask for a steak to be cooked medium it really shouldn't come back cremated. The beer was OK and the staff were pleasant enough but the atmosphere is completely ruined by the constant howls of bored children followed by the ever present roars of snarling parents who really should know better than to take kids to a pub in the first place.

The Bridgtown Social Club, Cannock

This used to be a typical working man's social club, regularly busy and very well kept. Unfortunately within the last few years this place has been turned upside down by the current steward & it is now dank, smelly & miserable. All of the old regulars are forced to sit in one small room by the entrance - or in the back room. Sports now dominate the whole club & if you want a nice quiet drink and a chat with friends then forget it. There are at least 4 different dart boards (some of which are illegally placed across walkways), 2 pool tables, countless TV screens, all showing non stop sport & in the main bar disgusting black décor with countless football shirts pinned all across the ceiling (again illegal as it is a very serious fire hazard).

The regulars now are a rag tag collection of the chief stewards mates, all of whom look like they need a damn good wash. The smell of sweat is quite often overpowering & the urinals in the gents are disgusting. Despite a warning that drug use is strictly forbidden, it is quite obvious that many of the locals - especially at the weekend - are as high as a kite.

This used to be such a good club but since the current steward took over he has turned it into a place solely for use by him and his chums - no longer a working men club, now a particularly bad 'rock pub' - just because it suits the stewards way of life. 1/10

The Ship, Soho

Fantastic alternative pub at the heart of London's Soho area. Great service and brilliant music make this place a welcome change to all of the usual Soho haunts, where corporate underhand deals taking place against a backdrop of shite music appear to be the norm. Friendly staff & pretty decent beer all add up to a great little boozer in London's West End. Downside?? The gents toilets were a bit overpowering but nothing a bit of good maintenance couldn't sort out.

5 Sep 2013 11:25

Hare and Hounds, Ramsgate

Full of scummy chav types on my last visit. The back bar is slightly more civilised but then you can wait an age to get served. Ales not really up to much but I have been in worse bars - though not many!!

16 Mar 2013 13:30

The Curtain's Up, West Kensington

I have amended my rating for this pub as I do feel that there has been a much needed improvement. My last two or three visits have seen great, friendly & fast - service, whilst the beers & ciders on offer have also been looked after properly and had a great selection to choose from. My only gripe would be the seating arrangements, which include a sectioned off area for food service, which is nearly always empty. The main part of the pub can be quite busy so on the last two occasions, my friends and I were forced to stand in a corridor that lead to the theatre & toilets as the empty are is strictly diners only. When you are disabled and have to use a stick this can be quite a problem.

Still, all in all well done to the Curtain's Up - my rating of 0/10 some years ago was fully justified then but you are now 8/10.

16 Mar 2013 13:21

The Brook Green Hotel, Hammersmith

Nothing out of the ordinary. Bar staff were very pleasant and the atmosphere was quite friendly. However, have been there twice in the last few weeks and on both occasions they had no cider on draught. For that it only gets 7/10

18 Nov 2012 12:49

Angies Freehouse, Harlesden

As bad as pubs could get. The whole place just reeks of an oppressive atmosphere. Had one pint of particularly uninspiring fizz and left!!

18 Nov 2012 12:36

The Old Pack Horse, Chiswick

After being ignored by the bar staff for the best part of 15 minutes, in a bar that was virtually empty, my friend & I decided to go elsewhere. If you are employed to work behind the bar then serving customers is part of the job remit - NOT talking to each other or your best friends who are propping up the bar!!!

18 Nov 2012 12:11

The Hope and Anchor, Hammersmith

Shutters are up - the Hope & Anchor is no more!!

30 Oct 2012 20:42

The Stumble Inn, Bridgtown

Easily the best pub in this part of Cannock - probably the whole of the Cannock area. Friendly service, great selection of ales and a fantastic 70s rock disco on the night I was last in. The beer garden is definitely the largest around these parts and the locals also made me feel extremely welcome on my last visit. Now gets a lot of passing trade from the nearby huge Ramada hotel

30 Oct 2012 20:40

The Cumberland Arms, West Kensington

Definitely the best bar in this area of London. The staff understand the meaning of service with a smile. Old style dcor, including a burning fireplace, make this a much loved boozer frequented by locals and travellers alike. A range of real ales was on offer. My only gripe would be for the pretentious menu. The food itself was very nice but also very expensive.

30 Oct 2012 20:26

The Old Oak, West Kensington

Unpleasant in the extremes. How it survives I will never know. The nearby Clarence is much more preferable.

30 Oct 2012 20:21

The Live and Let Live, West Kensington

After several years, I decided to give this bar another chance. It was even worse than I remembered. Loud, shouty locals, toilets that stank, beer that was almost undrinkable and TVs blaring in every corner - all showing different things. Avoid.

30 Oct 2012 20:19

Bar Sports, Cannock

Loud music? - check.
Drunk, shrieking women? - check.
Boozed up lads showing off to shrieking women? - check.
Bar staff who haven't got a clue what they are doing? - check.
Rude bulldog bouncers with daft earpieces in? - check.
Four tap fizz at extortionate prices? - check.
Probably the most unpleasant drinking establishment in Cannock. Avoid.

18 Jul 2012 17:30

Hole In The Wall, Brixham

Wonderful friendly bar in one of the nicest parts of England. If you are ever in the area, pay them a visit - you will not regret it.

21 Nov 2009 14:48

The Atlas, West Brompton

A great friendly little bar very close to the exhibition centre. As pubs in this area go, this is probably the best. The beer was fine and - although it is relaively small - finding a seat wasnt to hard. The staff could not have been friendlier, which - when compared to other pubs in the viscinity - is a Godsend. Will most definitely be visiting again very soon. 10/10.

27 Sep 2009 13:34

The Dartmouth Castle, Hammersmith

This place is an oasis of calm in the chav infested hell hole that is Hammersmith. By far the best pub in the area, it is clean, friendly and well run. Part of the same chain that includes The Cumberland in Olympia and The Swan in Chiswick, this pub keeps up the great atmosphere that can be found in these other bars. I didnt try the food but others I know have and they highly recomend it. Fantastically chav free I would recomend this bar to anybody.

27 Sep 2009 13:31

The Black Lion, Kilburn

Went here just before going to the theatre across the road. Very impressed. The layout was lovely and the staff who served us were more than pleasant. Didn't get to try the food but the menu looked OK. Would definitely drink in here again.

27 Sep 2009 13:23

The Crescent Champagne Bar, West Kensington

This place is not nice - not nice at all. After you have made your way past the pack of thick necked moron bouncers on the door (there were at least 10 of 'em - all with those ridiculous ear piece things in) we were met by the most expensive bar prices I have ever seen. This is West Kensington for Christ sake. You've got chav estates behind the pub and a row of run down shops opposite and to the left of it. Anyway, back to the pub. The atmosphere was thick with corporate underhand deals and other customers seemed to think they were running London. What a laugh. Running London. From Fulham!
To be honest, if this place was in Soho or similar, then it wouldn't be out of place, but in West Kensington - where the locals just want somewhere cheap and cheerfull to go for a drink - this place is an expensive, ridiculous and very unfunny joke. Go away!!

26 Sep 2009 20:48

The Norman Arms, Fulham

GOOD!!!!!

10 Jun 2009 20:29

The Latchmere, Battersea

Paid a visit to this pub last Saturday. What a vast disappointment. The service was painfully slow. When we eventually did get served, the miserable bar maid got our order wrong - how anybody can mishear "Two bottles of Bulmers Please" baffles me. Which brings me to the draught ales. The majority of the pumps were empty> You must know the scenario - a half pint glass paced precariously over the pump. Well this was practically an entire bar of half pint glasses.

The barmaid constantly swore as she worked, the barman was ignorant in the extreme. The TVs were tuned into some back of beyond footie game - and even though they had no sound, a gaggle of brain dead chav types were STILL gawping at the screen as though their very existence depended on never missing a second of football if its on a TV near them.

So a very disappointing zero score - and a pub I have no intension of ever returning to!

16 Sep 2008 20:59

The Horseshoe, Hampstead

To pretentious for words. We were visiting the little theater upstairs - which used to be such a main part of the 3 Horseshoes - only to be told that we couldn't take a seat unless we were buying their over priced food. Having already bought our beers, we stood near the bar, only to be told not to stand near the bar. As the pub was practically empty, I think the staff need to go on a customer service training course. No manners & snobby. Oh & the fact they brew their own beer doesn't justify the prices for what was at best only average beer.

23 May 2008 22:13

The Hand and Flower, Kensington

Went there for Sunday lunch with a couple of friends two weeks ago, and to say we were disappointed would be an understatement. 9.00 for 3 small slices of beef, a handful of sliced potatoes and a few overcooked carrots!! You get more in a Birds Eye microwave meal. It didn't taste too bad though which is something, however, the girl who served us was most unpleasant - snapping in a very sarcastic way at an 80 year old man who is just recovering from cancer is just not on. OK, she wasn't to know he had been so ill, but you just shouldn't treat ANY customer like that.

We decided to stay for dessert and all chose the nicely named fresh fruit and cream meringue explosion. The fresh fruit was two slices of a strawberry and 4 - yes, FOUR blueberries. A plate full of cream and a bit of meringue thrown in.

Yes, Disappointing doesn't even begin to cover this place!!

7 Nov 2007 18:38

The Hope and Anchor, Hammersmith

Well I have made a visit and was pleasantly surprised. The beer was ok & the service not bad. A nice little garden area for the smokers. A small bar room & a much larger cabaret room. The toilets could do with a make over though. Most of the crowd used to prop up the bar in the old Penny Farthing. Its early days, but if the staff & management carry on the good work they have done so far, then Hammersmith will finally have a gay bar to be proud of.

2 Oct 2007 20:33

The George, Hammersmith

How right you are ceedoubleu. As Belushis, it is worse than ever.

14 Sep 2007 16:34

The Quebec, Marble Arch

It is true, the manager here has got to rate as the worst manager in any bar in London. Shouty, rude, miserable little toad who is only interested in peoples money. His deputy/boyfriend is just as bad. Always chucking people out - some for just having a laugh - and never serving with a smile. If you manage to get a round in where a member of staff doesn't look blankly at you because he doesn't understand the language then you are very lucky.

Its a shame, it used to be so good - & could be again if the brewery got rid of the toad and his spawn.

11 Aug 2007 22:58

The Earls Court Tavern, Earls Court

Closed down - thank God. Now a sushi bar with a very snooty gay club underneath.

11 Aug 2007 22:47

The Hope and Anchor, Hammersmith

I had no idea that Hammersmith had finally got itself a gay bar. I shall indeed visit with mates this week & give my views thereafter.

11 Aug 2007 22:39

The George, Hammersmith

At long last. Another dump bites the dust. The George is no more. Now, if the likes of the Hop Poles would kindly do the same then things may start looking up for the poor people of Hammersmith.

6 Jul 2007 13:57

Longford House, Cannock

I really enjoyed my last visit to this bar. The beer was fine and the food was fantastic. A bit of a way out of Cannock town centre, but worth the distance.

13 Mar 2007 18:43

The George and Devonshire, Chiswick

Nice bar with a good function room. Bar staff OK if a little surley. Would go back though.

26 Feb 2007 12:28

The Swan, South Acton

By far the best bar in the Chiswick area. The manager is superb. The beer is fantastic. The food is a bit of an aquired taste but very nice all the same. The prices are a little high but not over the top. Although I prefer its sister pub The Cumberland in West Kensington, this is definitely a bar worth visiting.

22 Feb 2007 13:44

Route Two, Birmingham

Beyond awful gay bar that exploits the pink pound (God, I HATE that expression)to the hilt.Avoid.

18 Jul 2006 18:46

Victoria, Birmingham

Reasonable pub not far from New Street Station.Very popular with the theater crowd from the nearby Alexander. Can be good fun, although it does tend to atract the more aggresive lesbians.Shame,as this is a long established bar with great connections to the Brum gay scene.lets not ruin it girls!!!

18 Jul 2006 18:43

The Puzzle, Hammersmith

First visit....and last. Once passed the ape like ex cons on the door, the pub itself isnt that badly laid out. The beer though is beyond horrible. The Tellys about a million decibels too high. The toilets awfull.Didn't try the food and never will. The Greyhound was great. This is yet another bar that caters for the soccer set. Dull, lifeless and boring.

12 Jul 2006 10:45

The Live and Let Live, West Kensington

Having recently had a facelift,I decided to pay a return visit to the Live. And guess what??? Its even worse than it was before.Same know it all know sod all estate trash litter the bar, mouthing off about subjects they know nothing about.Same flat but very expensive beer.Same miserable slaggy bar staff. Same countless tellys all booming out at full volume --- in a pub thats no bigger than an outhouse. For God sake, the only possible way of getting a decent pub here is to bulldoze it and start again from scratch. Shithole of the highest order.Avoid.

12 Jul 2006 10:34

The Crabtree, Hammersmith

A superb location for a very run of the mill bar. The menu, although extensive,is very pricey and not worth the wait. The beer is average. So much more could be done with this pub if the right team were installed.

4 May 2006 22:19

All Bar One, Notting Hill Gate

This pub is BEYOND awful. The staf are useless, the ale disgusting and the atmosphere packed with menace from the blokes in suits. Avoid at all costs.

3 Jan 2006 15:50

The Old Swan, Notting Hill

For a couple of years in the early 90s,this was one of Notting Hills only gay bars. In those days, the staff were rude & downright obnoxious. It is little wonder that the clientelle of the time soon went back to the much more established Champion. When it closed down, I vowed that should it reopen I would never give it chance. Last Sunday I broke that vow. Im glad I did.Very plesent surroundings, great staff, nice mix of customers and decent menu.My only gripe is that it is a tad expensive. However,I will definitely be back.

3 Jan 2006 15:48

The Warwick Arms, Kensington

On this stretch of road, there are three pubs very close to each other. This is by far the best. Attracting a quieter crowd than is usual for the area, you can actualy hear yourself in conversation without having to shout above abysmal music that only appeals to the staff. It has its faults of course (the seets are bloody uncomfortable) but overall not a bad little bar.

3 Jan 2006 15:38

The Courtfield, Earls Court

Absolute shitting hole. The pits of Earls Court.Staff who were dragged up and beer that was taken unfiltered from the nearest sewage works. Avoid.

20 Dec 2005 20:17

The Blue Anchor, Hammersmith

Very nice pub but can get very crowded at times. The staff are fantastic and the beer very pleasent. Great location by the river does mean that it attracts a great diverse crowd. It is also far enough away from central Chavesville (Hammersmith)for the scum to bovver walkin innit!!!

10 Dec 2005 18:01

The Royal Vauxhall Tavern, Vauxhall

Vauxhalls oldest and most well known gay bar.A home for many a drag act, this pub is historic. However,it is also filthy. The toilets are disgusting and the beer far below standard. However,I understand that big changes are planned for the Vauxhall. I shall certainly be keeping my eye on it.
P.S. If the new management team read this, then for Gods sake employ bar staff that seem keen to serve customers, not camp it up with each other and then tut loudly when some work has to be done!!

24 Nov 2005 19:54

The Prince of Wales, West Brompton

Ok bar.Love the layout and the staff are great.Probably the best in this area.Decent beer too.

24 Nov 2005 19:42

The Wilton Arms, Fulham

A big fat 0/10 for this place. It seems to attract the worst kind of trash as customers and sells the crappiest beer imaginable. You take your life in your hands just walking to the bar.

18 Nov 2005 20:13

The Elm, West Kensington

Not bad when you consider the area it's in.Going in one day,I was expecting the same crowd that the nearby Seven Stars attracts. Not so.The barmaid was very jolly and made us feel very welcome, the cider was fine and the toilets were clean. Did't stay too long, but the regulars seemed to be ok.A place to revisit maybe.

18 Nov 2005 20:00

The Fox, West Kensington

Over commercialised shite hole.A breeding ground for sports mad thugs who like nothing more than to behave threatening to those that they feel dont fit in. It gets full of the worst kind of estate trash you could imagine. If your in the area,do yourself a favour and walk 250 yards up the road to The Cumberland.

18 Nov 2005 19:54

blagclub, Notting Hill

Used to be the Gate Club- Notting Hills only late night gay bar - untill the manager did the dirty on his regulars and sold up. When reopened, the previous customers were denied entrance as the new manager (who had stated that things would remain as they always were)decided that:quote" I dont want any more queers coming in through these doors"unquote.
Sour grapes maybe, but in an area like Notting Hill,& in the 21st century, not on at all. A big fat 0/10

14 Nov 2005 21:43

The Churchill Arms, Kensington

A great bar.Can get crowded to saturation point,so if your claustrophobic then give it a miss. The staff are just awesome, the layout of the pub is brilliant, the beer is exceptionally good and the toilets well looked after. A well deserved 10/10.

14 Nov 2005 21:35

THE Distillers, Hammersmith

Given a rather prime location, this pub really is a bit naff. Beer not good, staff only reasonable, food crap. Shame - it could so much better with the right people in charge.

14 Nov 2005 16:50

The Hammersmith Ram, Hammersmith

After many yesrs of avoiding this pub (believing it to be another in the almost unbroken run of shit Hammersmith bars) I finaly went in on Saturday. A great surprise. The cider was fantastic, the staff were beyond efficient and the general atmosphere was more than pleasent. Along with The Salutation, this pub gives a glimmer of hope to the dissilusioned residents of Hammersmith.10/10.

14 Nov 2005 16:47

The Beaconsfield, Kensington

Lousy bar - especialy when the exhibition hall is occupied - i.e. most of the time. Dont go there alone. Beer is lousy too. Also, staff from the local Post Office sorting office like to take it over and generaly behave like idiots. It's not big or clever to pepper every sentence you utter with swear words lads - especially when those words can be heard two streets away. And I doubt that many of you could put into action what many of the words mean anyway.

14 Nov 2005 16:42

The Chancellors, Hammersmith

Nice cheery pub - which makes a very pleasent change from the usual Hammersmith fodder.Great beer and a brilliant location all add up to one of the best boozers in West London. 10/10

2 Nov 2005 15:24

The Black Cap, Camden

I love this pub. Great beer, good caberet (most of the time) Good staff (most of the time). If you are in Camden and fancy a quick pint, give this superb gay venue a go. 10/10

1 Nov 2005 21:18

The Richmond, Hammersmith

Utter utter shite. Avoid at all costs.

21 Oct 2005 17:25

The Famous 3 Kings (F3K), West Kensington

Many moons ago, this place used to be the Nashville Rooms - a premier location for some of the finest punk bands. I remember seeing Siouxsie,Joy Division, The Jam & many more here in the days when it was the place to bee seen in.

Now. We have the Famous 3 Kings. A shite hole. Useless staff, nasty clientelle, crappy beer & worse food.

Such a shame that a venue like the Nashville can be completely ruined by inflicting yet another sports bar on the unfortunate residents of West Ken. Utter shite in every detail.

7 Sep 2005 19:03

The Shakespeare, Victoria

If you ever go into this bar then I seriously suggest that you get decontaminated after leaving. The only reason why this pub is always full is because of its proximity to Victoria station. It is a shite hole. The toilets stink, the food is revolting & the staff have got to be among the most unpleasent anywhere. Dont go in there. If your dying of thirst, hold on a little longer and meander in the direction of the coach station. Far more decent pubs thataway.

2 Sep 2005 13:12

The Queens Head, Chelsea

Very run of the mill gay bar just off the Kings Road. Very cramped when busy and some of the customers seem to have taken looking down on people as an art form. Very strictly a one drink pub before moving on elsewhere.

30 Aug 2005 14:19

The Sportsmans, Harlesden

A pub that is so dull & boring it beggars belief. Very much a 'regulars' bar, the ale is bland & insipid, the atmosphere stilted by the choking smoke and babble about football. The barman looked like he needed a damned good wash - it nearly put me off my pint. Needless to say I didn't stay for a second one.

25 Aug 2005 20:04

Bromptons, Earls Court

Large gay venue which, along with the Coleherne, forms the main part of Earls Corts gay scene. Been established for donkeys years & has had various refits over time.A tad expensive but decent beer and friendly atmosphere are usually to be found, though the pub is definitely more geered towards the gay male so women may feel a little unwelcome.

Unfortunately,Bromptons has recently started to go down hill. The gorgeous old style pub bar upstairs is now rarely open, meaning that people have to go into the larger, darker much louder club bar downstairs. This is a big shame, because, quite frankley, the club is crap. There is no escape from the boom boom boom of constant loud 'disco' music. Nowhere you can go & escape from it. Because of this,Bromptons is going to get half the marks it would have got 12 months ago.

25 Aug 2005 15:01

The Queens Head, Hammersmith

What can I add that hasn't already been said? This pub is in an absolute prime location by Brook Green tennis courts, and has one of the best beer gardens in West London.Unfortunately, the staff are so slow, miserable and rude it isn't worth the bother going there.Replace the staff, get rid of the rubbish menu, start catering for people in general instead of just the overpaid diners and something good could blossom at this pub.

23 Aug 2005 14:17

The George, Hammersmith

A total dump.Loud and aggresive with very surly staff. Lousy beer, crap customers. In fact, its your typical Hammersmith boozer.0/10

23 Aug 2005 14:10

Edwards Bar, Hammersmith

Awfull, absolutely bloody awfull. How pubs like this manage to pack them in baffles me.Rude staff, shitty bouncers, crap beer and tuneless, far too loud music. The pits of hell. It is difficult to say whether this place or the Hop Poles up the road is the worst - a tough choice indeed.Avoid.

23 Aug 2005 14:07

The Old Chapel Inn, Smethwick

I like this pub.Nice beers & friendly locals make for a pleasent evening. It is a very small pub & can get crowded, but it is friendly & not too loud.Worth a visit.

13 Jul 2005 14:34

The Three and Ten, Brighton

One of the friendliest gay bars in Brighton.Unpretentious, nice staff, good beer & great food. One of my favourite bars in Brighton.

13 Jul 2005 13:03

The Bulldog Tavern, Brighton

OK bar - nothing special. Can get very crowded - especially before the clubs open.Nice pint, but as Brighton gay bars go,a little run of the mill.

13 Jul 2005 12:55

The Grenadier, Belgravia

I love this pub. Have been here many times & - although it can get very crowded - I have always found it difficult to leave when it is time to go. The food is superb, the ale fine, the staff more than efficient. Go there - you may even see the Grenadiers ghost!!!

12 Jul 2005 22:58

The Black Dog, Weymouth

Lovely lovely bar.At the heart of Weymouth town centre, this pub is a must visit.Great beer, great staff and great customers.I cannot recomend this pub highly enough.

8 Jul 2005 12:31

Travellers Rest, Kenton

Once the best pub in the area - by quite a distance. Now just boring. The restaurant is the best thing about it, but a little pricey. The staff are ok,the beers ok & the toilets well kept.However,1 pint in here is quite enough.

6 Jul 2005 14:38

The Cock, Fulham

Above average bar on Fulhams North End Road.Staff aren't bad, beers ok. Some of the customers are a little 'odd',but it all adds to the character of the place.

6 Jul 2005 14:32

The Castle Inn, Bridgtown

Definitely a 'locals' bar,The Castle has been sited in Bridgtown for many many years. Not a bad pub by any means, but if you aren't a regular then you will probably get a lot of suspicious stares. The beer is average and sometimes they have entertainment which - at best - is only passable.

5 Jul 2005 22:36

The Admiral Duncan, Soho

Great bar - absolutely fantastic. Not too big,but the staff are friendly, the music not too intrusive & the beer is spot on. The toilets are slowly being improved too.One of the best bars in the Old Compton area.
And God rest you Cinders - we all loved ya to bits.

5 Jul 2005 22:20

The Hop Poles, Hammersmith

To the poster below,I have no problem with people getting drunk & having a good time - except when being drunk & having a good time involves insulting and threating behaviour aimed at others within there line of blurred vision. The Hop Poles is one of the most unpleasent pubs in the area. The food is revolting, the beer is piss poor & the atmosphere is heavy with menace. A cancer on the face of Hammersmith.

5 Jul 2005 14:58

Halfway II Heaven, Charing Cross

Nice friendly bar in the heart of London. Beer well kept, staff more than pleasent, music not over loud. A little small maybe, but well worth a visit.

5 Jul 2005 14:51

The Jester, Birmingham

Great fun gay bar - still going strong after many years serving Birminghams gay community. A friendly non pretentious place, well kept beer and nice staff. The place to start a great fun evening in Brum.

1 Jul 2005 16:50

The Pembroke, West Brompton

Not a bad gay bar at all.It used to have a very heavy atmosphere, but has recently - much to many of the locals disgust - toned it down.As a result, it is a much more cheerful place to enjoy a pint & a chat.Musics at the right level, and the toilets arent too bad.I brought a (straight) friend of mine here before a Morrissey concert last year and he was very impressed.

The Prince Albert, Notting Hill

As pubs in Notting Hill go,this is one to avoid. It used to be a real good bar,but has now become such a shite hole it deserves to close down. How anybody could have a good time in here baffles me. (Extremely)Loud music, terrible toilets, expensive, and warm cloudy cider which management refused to change.Nasty.

The Slug and Lettuce, Shepherds Bush

Nasty nasty nasty. No character, awful toilets.Avoid.

The Albion, West Kensington

This pub used to be special. No longer. It is a lout infested, noisy sewer of a bar.You take your life in your hands walking in there, having to cross in front of the dart board & some bladdered chav types trying to aim at it.Why no one has lost an eye I dont know. The beers lousy too. Avoid like the plague.

The Ladbroke Arms, Notting Hill

I work very close to this pub and have watched its sad decline over the last few years. What used to be a nice friendly bar is now an expensive, uncomfortable, crowded hell hole. If you don't mind being looked down on by those who think they are a cut above, then you will be fine.Otherwise walk towards the near by Notting Hill where you will find plenty of far friendlier places to enjoy a pint.

The Norman Arms, Fulham

If you are in the Fulham area and gagging for a pint, you might stumble upon this little pub on the Lillie Road.My advice to you is to die of thirst rather than step into this hell hole. Estate chavs and slappers add to an atmosphere in keeping with the warm, flat beer and dreadful karaoke. I really would rather slit my throat than walk into this cess pit of a boozer ever again.

The Bridgtown Tavern, Bridgtown

Great friendly little pub just outside Cannock.Good menu, pleasent service and very cheap, decent beer.

Smugglers Inn, Osmington Mills

One of the nicest pubs Ive ever been in. Friendly staff, good food and situated in stunning surroundings. A must visit.

The Quebec, Marble Arch

A great pub - especially for the older gent.As has been stated, the bar staff need to be more than pretty - how about learning some basic English chaps? However, this is still one of the best gay bars in Central London.

The Trout, Hammersmith

Vile Vile Vile in every way

The Salutation, Hammersmith

A lovely bar, though a tad expensive.Great service from the very jolly barmaid made this a memorable visit.I shall go back.

6 May 2005 18:32

The Hop Poles, Hammersmith

An absolute hell hole.I can think of no worse pub in the area.It is full of thick chav types and council estate slappers without any brain cells. This pub should be forceably closed down for the sake of the good folk of Hammersmith.

6 May 2005 18:29

The Grand Junction Arms, Harlesden

The best pub in the area by a country mile. Lovely and sociable in the back room and a huge beer garden next to the canal make this a must visit.

6 May 2005 18:21

The Seven Stars, West Kensington

A hell hole of a pub, full of aggresive chav types & loud drunks. The karaoke is spoiled by the pervading atmosphere of louts looking for trouble, which is a shame. The layout of the pub suggests that with a make over something quite decent could grow from it if anyone could be bothered.

The Leinster, Notting Hill

Nice bar for the most part, however I did find the staff a little to interested in camping it up with their friends than actualy serving customers, which is a shame.

26 Mar 2005 16:35

Birdcage, Chiswick

A great, friendly bar with good beer.A lovely garden area and regular cabaret make this one of the better bars in the area.Great fun too...

26 Mar 2005 16:32

The Live and Let Live, West Kensington

This ia a most unpleasent pub these days.Rowdy drunks ruin any chance of a relaxing drink, and I was unfortunate to witness a nasty attack on an innocent person just walking past. The Cumberland Arms -(very near by) has a much better atmosphere altogether.

The Cumberland Arms, West Kensington

A great bar with the most friendly staff I have encountered in a long time. Can get busy, but always has a very pleasent, non aggresive atmosphere.
