Dirty Dick's, Bishopsgate

This was an absolutely fabulous boozer. I haven't been inside Dirty Dick's for about 5 years and I know that doesn't matter. The place never changes (good), the beer never changes (better) and it is still the only proper place in the city to pop out for "45 minutes". I love it.

The Royal Oak, Rusper

What a lovey spot. This is the sort of place one can go to when avoiding the wife is of the utmost importance. Kind of like slipping into a parallel universe. Quiet, top notch ales, acceptable grub. The bit about 'watch your head' is too true. Best to sit at the north end of the bar, there is slightly better head room there.

The Red Lion, Moorgate

This is a comfortable, if somewhat 'down at the heel' city boozer. The ales are reliable, particularly the frequently changing guests. If anyone suggests ABO-ing or JDW-ing this place shoot to kill. I love this pub.

The Bear, Horsham

The best pub in the town center. The landlord is friendly, the beer well kept and the regulars an interesting group. I haven't been in for some time but it will be my first port of call when next in Horsham.

The Morpeth Arms, Pimlico

An absolutley brilliant place. I used this with some regularity many moons ago when dating a girl who lived near Dolphin Square. Comfy feel and 'pubby' vibe about the place with always 'on' ales. It is perfect for a post Tate refresher.

The Toucan and Three Crowns, Bank

Someone help me out here. Was this place called Leeks in the late 80's and early 90's?

The White Hart, Bishopsgate

Another example of location overcoming a multitude of sins. The beer, service and food are all attrocious in here and if not for being so close to the station it would have been put down a generation ago. Head straight for the train and drink in Shenfield instead. BTW why is it called the '199'.

The Globe, Moorgate

There are plenty of shockingly bad pubs in the city but this one plumbs depths the others can only dream of. Go on the wagon before wasting precious time drinking in this place.

The Kings Head, Earls Court

I used this place in the late 80's-early 90's when living around the corner. Must agree with all th posts here, a fantastic place with very good beer served by friendly staff. The comment from Keith holds true as well. Canucks were treated pleasantly.

The Crown, Horsham

While not having been in the Crown for a number of years, I did think it the lousiest pub in all England. It was certainly a blot on the face of Horsham.

The Old Thameside Inn, London Bridge

I am pleased to see other punters have been sour on this place. Don't think this is a new occurence at the Thameside. The beer was lousy and the service non-existent 10 years ago too. Shamne really as the location is superb.

The Lamb Tavern, Leadenhall Market

Excellent venue for lunching. The Young's is invariably spot on and the beef or pork rolls are first rate. The only real complaint is the tendency to get over-packed on occassion.

The Gun Inn, Findon

I used this place semi-regularly when living in Sussex. The food was superb and the beer first rate. The room had been recently re-furbished and was a very light and pleasant. A good pub in a lovelt part of the county.

The George and Dragon, Shipley

Sadly, I haven't been back to this lovely pub since moving from the area a while ago. When I was using the George and Dragon it was quite simply perfect. The beer was as good as H+W can be, the landlord was an avid jump racing goer, the food reliable and the garden a delight. Easily the most salubrious pub in the area and worth a special journey.
