The Miners Arms, Penzance

Web info suggests that this pub -known as "The Wink" has reverted to a private house as from Aug 2010.
Perhaps a local can advise ?

St Leonards Hotel, St Leonards

Having been let down we decided to try this pub as we had not been there for 15 years for a Sunday lunch, and I wanted to see if they still had the wall drawings and signatures of the service personel who were stationed nearby during the war, They still have them.
What a difference to last visit, very friendly greeting. Very clean, with a good menu at very reasonable prices.
There are specials on certain days and also special "Senior " meals. After 5pm Sunday 2for 1 carvery.
We settled on the carvery Pork Beef & turkey all piping hot served on HOT plates, usual vegatables as much as wanted.
Service was fast in spite of busy bar, staff extremely efficient , nothing too much trouble. Good selection of drinks
I can thoroughly recomend a vist here, we shall be revisiting soon.
One thing I always check before eating is the state of the toilets-- very good here.

The Green Man, Wimborne

After passing this pub for many years , my wife and I decided today to have their Sunday Roast.
The area for eating is quite small but cosy, makes for a friendly atmosphere.
We were lucky to find seats as booking for Sunday is normally required,
They were busy which accounted for a delay in our meals, but well worth the wait, This was without doubt the best roast ever.
The lamb was -melt in the mouth, vegetables cooked to perfection, not overdone. All served hot
The inclusive choice of sweets made it difficult to select. my wife had a strawberry cheesecake, I selected the "Blemished Richard" Spotted Dick !!
Though parking is a little difficult, it was well worth it.
We shall certainly return for another good homely meal at a very reasonable price. brought to table by a lovely lady------------The landlord Andrews mum.

Bridge House, Ferndown

This is no longer the Bridge House. --------now renamed City Lodge,
Completely refurbished, has good and varied menu, Carvery is excellent. Prices is a 8 for carvery.( this goes down to 6weekdays) Food well presented, and uniquely in there is a window into the kitchen so you can see the preparation
I always check toilets for cleanliness.theirs are immaculate.
Beers a'plenty, speedy service in spite of being busy.
One small point for improvement is the plates and food could have been hotter.
Hotel has good accommodation and cars can be left if flying from local airport

The Iford Bridge, Christchurch

Today we revisited this pub ,I am beginning to wonder how they provide such a service.
The food is priced unbelievably low. the pub is clean and tidy, the staff extremely efficient and cheerful. speed of service depends on how busy they are, our meal was on the table within 10 minutes. my steak was cooked to perfection a steel griddle platter still cooking so stayed hot to end of meal.
My wife had a wonderful smothered chicken.
This is a pub that others should set their standards by

The Iford Bridge, Christchurch

It has all changed since new management.
Children only excluded in one part, which is acceptable
Service of drinks a little long but to be expected in such a busy pub.
Test taste a beer?--no problem
food well cooked and presented ,prices are unbelievably low .
I rate this 10 ++

The Sir John Barleycorn, Cadnam

I would add that like customer 500 there are not many pubs that offer this standard of service.
At least we must be grateful for that. but customer 500 must have never been to a pub that gives good service!

The Sir John Barleycorn, Cadnam

I can only echo the comments of Charlieparry.
As one of a party of 8 the food supplied was some of worst ever experienced. My steak&ale pudding was horrible.hard outside, fatty inside.A wrap of vegetables-carrot,swede,beans were hardly cooked.the potato was served mashed in the shape of an ice cream dollop.
My wife had fish & chips--fish good but chips were not even chips.
Cutlery you had to get yourself.and condiments.
The price for our two meals was astounding 19.90
Two days before I had a sirloin steak 6oz chips and onions. cooked to perfection service good ,at the Iford Bridge Pub Bournemouth--cost 4.95
Yes ---------4.95 !!!!
