The Farmers Boy, Maidenhead

Well run neighbourhood / estate type pub - good value for money beer and food

The Bear, Maidenhead

A shame that Wetherspoons Head Office have seen fit to withdraw the CAMRA 20% discount on food

Pond House, Maidenhead

Great pub excellent choice of good value food and competitively priced beer. Very good service from the two guys normally behind the bar. Everything a local should be. 10/10

The Barley Mow, Cox Green

Expensive poorly managed pub, it has an absentee Landlord who on his fleeting visits has never got behind the bar to serve his paying customers. What a way to run a pub.

Thatched Cottage, Maidenhead

You are right Ben Shockley I've always found the care in the community brigade who block front access a nuisance. It's been a problem here for years under successive management - they need to be taught that it's a Public House not a private drinking den for sixty something "look at me I'm the big I am's"

The Barley Mow, Cox Green

June 2014 It's price hike time of the year again at this rip off establishment - £0.10 per pint.
A once well run pub serving food this place is a shadow of it's former self

The Foresters, Cox Green

This place really is the pits - they've stopped attempting to do food in the pub and there's now a greasy Kebab van in the car park

The Castle, Old Isleworth

A decent boozer

Price increase's r us

2 increases in a fortnight including a cynical one to welcome Foresters customers whilst that boozer is closed for a refurb

The Budget is coming up shortly so expect another price hike

I must be a glutton for punishment returning to this overpriced boozer. To get to the bar one often has to negotiate dogs and children running loose.

Talking about bars - has anyone ever seen the Landlord actually behind it serving. On his rare appearances he can be found on the customer side of the bar watching your money go into his till.

The Fifield Inn, Fifield

Well overpriced, carry on driving past

Que Pasa, Maidenhead

Thankfully for the residents of Maidenhead it has closed down

The White Hart, Holyport

Had a meal there this lunchtime, great place - excellent beer and food. Other pubs in the Maidenhead area should take note of how this pub appreciates punters. Would recommend. Not too far to travel out to from Cox Green !

Jan 2011 - big placard outside boasting "No VAT Increase Here !" - very true........they must think we've all got "MUG" written on our foreheads - prices were hiked up once again before Christmas. Off to the Thatched Cottage for a reasonably priced 1.99 pint of Greene King IPA

The Hand and Flowers, Maidenhead

Must've priced themselves out of the market as it's now closed

Over 3.00 a pint is taking the Mickey

Que Pasa, Maidenhead

Thankfully this ghastly place has succombed to the recession and closed down

The Star Inn, Waltham St Lawrence

Swung by for a pint last Sunday lunchtime - bit on the pricy side but I guess that's due to the location. A few quirky characters in there but no knuckledraggers.

Red Lyon, Hurley

Moronic misspelling of name - why not call it Red Lion as it was known as for decades. Looking at the photo more of a restaurant than a pub.

The Masters Arms, Maidenhead

Its been demolished

The Bear, Maidenhead

'Spoons have done a great job on the refurbishment and sticking in a bar upstairs but oh dear the staff look like they've come from Care in the Community, someone was a bit tight fisted dishing out the brain cells here.
As one would expect par for the course with sharp suited manager complete with unnecessary trojan style Beckham haircut struts about the wrong side of the bar like Nero as Rome burned.
Good beer when you finally get served and decent food as long as the cook looks at the photos, uses his fingers and counts three sausages, not one, onto the plate alongside the chips & beans

The Barley Mow, Cox Green

This pub has gone downhill - once famed for it's food now little on offer. Word is that the lease is up and the place is going back to the pub owning company shortly. Shouldn't complain though as anywhere is better than the Foresters down the road.

Brewers Fayre, Maidenhead

Now a Toby Carvery - great food at a bargain price

19 Sep 2009 19:08

The Foresters, Cox Green

Bone idle Manager Geoff (brother of owner) even if no other staff present will not shift himself to serve you when he's perched on a barstool staring into space.
