The Pilot Inn, North Greenwich

Fantastic little hidden-away pub in a great location on the river. London Pride on tap is a perfect pint. Lovely garden and food is very good quality.
No chavs or yobbos to spoil the atmosphere on a quiet and peaceful Saturday afternoon. Family friendly.

The Cutty Sark Tavern, Greenwich

Went here at the weekend and was very impressed. Lots of eager friendly staff at the bar (5 of them!) and the draught cider was first class. Good selection of beers and wines, reasonable prices.
Pub is cosy inside, toilets clean and when the sun decides to come out the outside area would be perfect for a pint.

Beehive, New Eltham

Absolute sh!thole, avoid.
One of the staff looks like the ugly ginger bloke from Eastenders and the rest have all the charisma of a packet of custard creams.
High potential for a fight if you accidentaly knock someones pint.

Do yourself a favour and carry on walking straight past.

The Capitol, Forest Hill

Strange place.
Many 'care in the community' types getting the odd pint in whilst out on escorted leave.
Shame really as the building is cool.

Brockley Jack, Brockley

This place was miles better before they poshed it up a few years ago.
Its now overpriced and the landlord and his staff are all cretins.
If I ever go in there again I'm wearing a shell-suit and bright white trainers just to annoy the staff.... they are clearly trying to keep the 'wrong sort' out.

The Brockley Barge, Brockley

This won't be everyones cup of tea however if you like cheap booze and inhaling cannabis fumes in the garden you'll love it!

The Gate Clock, Greenwich

I've been in quite a few Wetherspoons pubs and this is one of the better ones. As with most wetherspoons pubs its open plan with a long bar and an even longer walk to the lavs. Can be a pain to get served in the summer as it attracts quite a few tourists but otherwise its ok.... MUCH better than the crummy WJD's in Lewisham.

The Railway, Blackheath

This is one of the best pubs in the heath. Staff are good and serve you quickly, standard of beer and wine is decent and the roof garden is excellent.

15 Jun 2012 14:41

The Catford Ram, Catford

I'd say this is the best pub in Catford. No trouble and drink is decent.
No windows though....

15 Jun 2012 14:37

The Goose On The Green, Catford

This place has gone downhill and I wouldn't drink here unless I was dragged in.
The garden appeared to contain a mixture of alcoholics, drug dealers and chavs peddling stolen goods.
The old bill should shut it down.

The London and Rye, Catford

Probably one of the worst pubs in Catford, saying that there is some pretty stiff competition.
It attracts the lower end of Catford dole-scroungers who come to loiter outside with their staffie dogs and intimidate passers-by.
Avoid unless you are one of the above.

The Lost Hour, Greenwich

This has been done up in the last month. Still very cheap for beer and wine. Layout isn't the best but saying that its still probably one of the better places in Greenwich to drink.
Service is quick, toilets clean.

The Fox and Firkin, Lewisham

This is a good pub.
The prices have gone up in the last few years although its still quite reasonable.
The garden out back is first class. There are no yobbos in here, most of the customers are chilled out.
Good music at the weekend and the quiz is decent midweek.

13 Jun 2012 10:38

The Ladywell Tavern, Ladywell

Really decent pub.
Negatives are: Prices, long wait for food and not many seats.
Positives are: Good quality beer, atmosphere.

I like this place. Its cosy in the winter with the fire on full blast.
The landlord is a nice guy but has been pi**ed on a few occassions hence the wait for food.

13 Jun 2012 10:20

The Watch House, Lewisham

This isn't a pleasant pub. Daytime it is full of pram-face mothers with 6 kids in tow who run around the place causing havoc. Hard to get served although cheap.
The out front seating area is dirty and full of fag ash and phelgm on the floor. Very unpleasant.
Last time I went in there some poor sod got his nose broken in a fight.
Haven't been back, its a magnet for scum.

The Woodman, Lee

Awful, avoid like the plague.
Landlord is weird as are the strange people who drink in there.
No atmosphere, bad layout and frequented by South London 'Del Boy' types.

13 Jun 2012 10:08

The Famous Swan of Lee, Lee

This was shut for around 6 months and has now reopened in early March 2012.
The previous landlord said it would never make any money and he was right.
I went in there 2 weeks ago and its still a dump. There was one bloke in there on a Saturday night and the atmosphere is dull.
Should be closed and demolished to be honest.

13 Jun 2012 10:05

The Dacre Arms, Lee

The best kept secret in the area (although maybe not now).
Can't fault it... barstaff are so friendly, beer is excellent and the garden is the best. A very local man's (and womans) pub and hope it stays that way.
Don't stroke the dog because he is old and grumpy and may nip.

13 Jun 2012 09:59

The Crown, Lee

Looks nice inside and out but the drinks are overpriced and the barstaff look like their best mates just died.
The only reason I'd go here is because of the large seated area out the front which is great in the sunshine. Ring your bank manager before you get a round in.

13 Jun 2012 09:55

The Lord Northbrook, Lee

This pub is now one of my favourites due to the complete renovation last year.
Prior to the renovation I went in once and left after one pint due to the unfriendly staff and clear evidence of drug-use in there however now it is completely different.
Staff are really helpful, beer and wine is reasonably priced and there is a small garden area to the rear for smokers.
My only suggestion would be to introduce a larger range of wines.

13 Jun 2012 09:49

The Edmund Halley, Lee

Not too bad in the week but I'd avoid Friday and Saturday night due to the clientel loitering around outside when the sun is out. Cheap booze and the staff are ok (can be a bit miserable). The toilets are about half a mile away so be prepared.
One of the slightly better Weatherspoons.

13 Jun 2012 09:43

O'Neills, Blackheath

Probably the cheapest place to drink in the Heath.
Decent atmosphere and good, quick staff.
Seating out the front and rear. Can be crowded when footie or rugby is on. Never seems to be much trouble in there.

13 Jun 2012 09:26

The Princess of Wales, Blackheath

The great shame about this pub is that its ruined by lack of staff serving at the bar. Everytime I have been in there I have waited in excess of 5 minutes to get served. There only evers seems to be 2 barstaff on at any given time, even during busy saturday and sunday periods and a queue of 8-10 persons waiting.
As I say a great shame as the pub is actually very nice with a really great garden area.

13 Jun 2012 09:17

The Hare and Billet, Blackheath

Very nice place. Food is really decent especially the Sunday roast.
Friendly staff and customers.
Only negative is that is so popular therefore difficult to get a seat!

13 Jun 2012 09:02

Cave Austin, Blackheath

Only one draught lager here which is Peroni. Good pint. Fairly cheap for a round (for Blackheath). The best feature here is the split-level garden to the rear of the bar which is sometimes covered so you can even sit out when its pouring.
Staff are friendly.
Best to go mid-week as come Friday and Saturday night it turns into a club and is rammed out and loud.

13 Jun 2012 08:58

The Star and Garter, Greenwich

Came across this pub as its tucked out of the way right next to the power station.
Love it. Very friendly staff, customers and atmosphere. Spacious inside and has a pool table and dart board.
Nice seating area out the front which is a sun trap.
Definately going back.
