The Nags Head, Great Linford

Good pub, been drinking here for years.
Only thing that lets it down is that the same beers are on all the time (no guest beers). Pride, Tetleys, Doom Bar, Broadside.
Beer selection is stuck in the past, if they served a hoppy beer then it would fly out of the pumps.

The Plough, Simpson

This is a restaurant that server beer and not a pub that does food.
Food is quite nice, but real ale in undrinkable. Been in there several times as the wife likes the restaurant. Unfortunately the real ale is far too cold and lifeless and it's the standard Charlie Wells bilge.
Nice garden.

p.s. I think the beer used to be ok, but since the new management they have lost interest in it.

CASK Pub and Kitchen, Pimlico

Cracking selection of beers, can't fault them at all.

As previously mentioned, food is like an extremely overpriced McDonalds, only the portions are smaller.
Only sell burgers. Cheeseburger & chips £11.50 - ouch!!

The White Horse, Parsons Green

Always a good selection of beer. Go anytime except Fri/Sat evenings in the summer - full of "Made in Chelsea" wannabes.

The Bricklayers Arms, Putney

Been in here half a dozen times, always had an excellent beer selection.

Found it to be quite expensive lately, 3 pints of 4% real ale and a pint of proper lager for £17.50. Had been on a pub crawl to 6 other pubs, drinking similar beer, some of them in posh areas (Barnes village, Kew bridge) etc. and the average price was around £14.

The Magpie and Crown, Brentford

Was in there on Saturday. Great selection of beers kept stocked by a very knowledgeable bar manager.
Best pub in Brentford by a country mile.

The Red Lion, Isleworth

Great selection of beer, very friendly too.

The Botanist On The Green, Kew

Good selection of beers, but served to cold.
Could be a lot better.

The Red Lion, Barnes

How on earth is this pub in the Good Beer Guide???

Standard Fullers choice, Summer Ale was off.
Asked for 3 pints of London Pride. The barman then put down 3 pints that were filled to about 2 inches from the top. I inspected the glass to see if they were oversized and no they were standard. I looked back at the barman to see if he was going to top them up, and no he expected me to accept them as they were. By now, I was thinking that there was a hidden camera and I was part of some kind of joke. When I asked for a top up he then filled them up to about an inch from the top, so I asked for another top up and he started to get a bit shirty. Obviously, people around Barnes have so much money, they are not used to anybody questioning this. Even if he was new, surely the first thing you teach barstaff is not to break the law.

Anyway, out to the kid filled beer garden. The beer was far too cold, it was tasteless, me and my friends tipped away half a pint of London pride each, then moved onto the Bricklayers in Putney, a pub that deserves to be in the GBG.

I've been drinking London Pride for years and never had to throw one away. Come on CAMRA, sort it out, please save us from these awful experiences and keep them away from the GBG!

The Cannon, Newport Pagnell

Been drinking here for a few years, mostly Fri or Sat evenings on a fortnightly basis.

Good Points: Good Beer, Good Bands, Friendly staff, comfy surroundings.

Bad Points: Bit of a 'clique' - locals will be served before you. Been there lately and beer selection is limited. Lately only Pedigree available on a Sat night.

Usually end up in the Bull, where the beer selection is better (normally 4 on offer). Bull would be a better candidate for the Good Beer Guide, but I don't think CAMRA politics would allow that.

The Brook House, Hayes

Lager drinkers pub. No real ales on offer.
Good bands though.

Bailie Bar, Stockbridge

Really nice pub, can get really busy. Great beer but really pricy. Actually dearer than pubs I drink in in London.

Cloisters Bar, Edinburgh

Favourite pub in Edinburgh. 9 real ales.
Would give this a 10 if it had music.

The Haymarket Bar, Edinburgh

Good Beer, shame about the staff.
Mainly tourists drinking in here, locals tend to avoid it. Reminded myself last time why I don't use it. Wouldn't serve food at 8:55 when it said last food orders 9:00 on the sign. Chucked people out at 11:50 another night when they were supposed to serve until midnight.
Plenty of better pubs nearby.
