The Manor Bar & Grill, Tooting

Well now - I sort-of like this place and think Phil is working really hard to make a go of things. The furniture's a bit uncomfortable and the pool table area can be noisy, but the food is good. It has potential so let's keep fingers crossed that the locals and their dogs don't put-off too many punters.

The Trafalgar Arms, Tooting

Oh dear... could someone explain what's gone wrong with this place? A few years ago it was a busy, thriving, fun-loving place with good food and good staff. Now it's changed hands it's AWFUL! The staff need to take at a look at places like The Antelope, The Balham Bowles Club and The Tram if they want to attract customers. They might also consider a repaint job for both exterior and interior - only this time get it done by a professional who knows that gloss paint is SO 1970. And, as for that yellow and green facade.... oh please...!

The Railway Bell, Tooting

Simply dreadful sums up this place. Ghastly customers, perhaps aspiring to be the Devil's cherubs, flank the doors to this hell-hole. Lately someone's had the "bright" idea to whitewash over beautifully glazed original tiles displaying to one-and-all a glorious lack of taste! I expect it won't be too long before there's another fight which gets the place closed and, hopefully, this time for good (although, as a friend said, keeping the place open keeps the dregs out of the other pubs). Shocking place. The 1 point I've given is for what could be (with a massive dose of TLC) a lovely building.

The Long Room Bar and Hotel, Tooting

I think this place is slowly, but surely, slipping back into the old ways of what was then the dreadful, chavvy, foul-mouthed Mitre Hotel. It's alright but Ewan ran it better than the new kids who seem permanently flustered. Not a very good choice of beers but the food looks nice. The outdoor area is good (when swept) but, unlike yesteryear, when the heaters were switched on ridiculously all evening with no customers, they no longer appear to work when the now-gathering customers need them on a chilly summer evening....cutbacks methinks? I also thought the prices were slightly higher than other pubs in the area but there's free Wi-Fi and they are trying hard to "trendyfy" the place to stop it feeling like an airport departure lounge.
