The George, Twickenham

Slipped in last night having parked along the street and was in need of the closest boozer. Was fairly underwhelmed with what we found. The first problem was that London Pride was off so my mate had to settle for a Stella, and along with a pint of coke came in at a shade under 6. The style to us appeared to be a Wetherspoons knock off (see the similar looking menu, including prices and offers) and the clientele seemed to be the lower end of the Twickenham class structure. Some positives for this place include the pool table, dart board and wide selection of fruits and quiz machines.

The Eel Pie, Twickenham

Until recently a complete unknown to me. Like many visitors to Twickenham i suspect i fell into the trap of walking away from the station and stopping in the Wetherspoons for the sheer convenience. Once i heard about this place however i was somewhat sceptical about what to expect price wise, but was pleasantly suprised to find it extremely reasonable. The range of ales and lagers is ok, nothing amazing, but they are in very good condition. The pub itself if very nice and the service it top notch. For me this is a much better bet than any of the pubs outside the station.

The White Horse, Parsons Green

Due to the area this pub happens to find itself in you prepare yourself for the worst in terms of price. Despite this fact there is some value to be had and a wide range of drinks to suit every taste. The only downside i have found from this pub is the ridiculous price of the BBQ whenever it is fired up. In excess of 7 for a burger, which unsuprisingly saw only a couple of takers on a rather busy Saturday afternoon.

Doggetts Coat and Badge, Southwark

Been in here twice now, once sat inside and the other in the garden next to the river. Both times have been very enjoyable. A nice selection of ales and lagers on, with a range of prices to suit every pocket. The pub itself is very nice and the food is excellent.

The First and Last, Maidstone

Excellent little pub. A nice selection of ales and lagers, friendly bar staff and a wide range of clientele. The choice of music is also favourable and the dart board is set in the corner to minimise disruption whilst the fire is a superb touch in the winter.

Golden Lion, Rochester

Absolutely bog standard Wetherspoons establishment. Full of fruit and quiz machines and a full range of clinetele all enjoying the cheap prices. A nice touch however was the computerised poker machine, which for 1 per player, went down an absolute treat despite the lack of money winning opportunites.

The Good Intent, Rochester

A very intrigiung pub. The choice of drinks on tap was fairly limited but the selection of barrels seemed to be a nice touch. Much like the Man of Kent Ale House it is not in a desirable area, but once you get past the perceptions you may have of the place it is not too bad and overall a fairly nice place to enjoy a pint.

The Man of Kent Ale House, Rochester

A very nice suprise was this pub. From the outside (and the area it is situated in) it appears to be a bit of a dive, however once you enter the place perceptions can be deceptive. It is not the most enthralling pub in the world but there is a decent selection of beers to choose from and the interior, whilst not being superb, it not as bad as the exterior would suggest. Overall a very reasonable pub to visit.

Britannia Bar Cafe, Rochester

What more can be said about this place. Feels more like it should be an Indian Restaurant, however it serves a range of ales, a nice selection of lagers and has a good spectrum of clintele and a friendly atmosphere.....well worth a return visit.

The Bank Statement, Swansea

Slipped in for a swift pint on Wednesday on a short stay in the the city and was neither impressed or disappointed. Absolutely typical Wetherspoons. All in all there are far worse Wetherspoons you could go into but as a rule i wouldn't suggest this is place you could spend all night in.

Globe and Engine, Sittingbourne

Went in there today before heading over to Bourne Park for a Maidstone United game, and to say i was unimpressed would be an understatement. There was 4 of us who all ordered an Orangeboom, which usually we all enjoy. However on this occasion there was clearly something awry as it tasted very much like it had been watered down, or something to that effect. Not only that, the pool table had an extremely noticable slant towards one end and the darts board had clearly seen better days, although it has to be said was no worse than any other dart board i've used before.

The Malta Inn, Sandling

Was always superb on Thursday's for the quiz night (the place was always rammo!). Should bring the quiz back, it was a right laugh, especially after you had consumed a few jars in the build up.

The Rifle Volunteers, Maidstone

Is this pub a p**s take!?!? You need to be about 80 to feel at home here!

Ye Olde Thirsty Pig, Maidstone

On second thoughts (and having been in there a lot recently) i'm really beginning to rate this pub as among the best you can find in Maidstone. The range of drinks is suitable for anyone, of any tastes, and the range of crisps is also pleasing. The clientel has improved somewhat, and when frequenting upstairs on your own the jukebox is a right touch.

The Old House at Home, Maidstone

Was in there last week and was very impressed. The pub is very spacious, which is surprising when you walk in as from the outside it appears relatively small. Inside you will find a wide array of TV's, a large pool table, a dart board and some fruit machines.

Age is slightly confusing being over 21's (me being 19) and being served last week but being told we couldn't get a drink this, otherwise good pub.

The Walnut Tree, Maidstone

Been in this pub once a week for a good few weeks now and each time has been very pleasant. The bar staff are all very welcoming, and this is depsite the fact during lunchtime the pub is full of college students. The beer is relatively expensive, but the practice of leaving glasses in a small fridge is ingenius. There is a very good jukebox which plays an array of old school tunes and up to date chart hits. The dart board is in excellent condition and placed in the corner so as to minimise fuss for other customers. Also the food is top notch, if a little overpriced for the ammount you recieve. Overall it is a quality pub and highly recommeded.

The Lobster Pot, West Malling

Obviously he isn't, what with that well known medical fact that only people under the age of 18 can fart (detect any sarcasm do you?). As a matter of fact we have been in there the past 3 tuesdays and on each occasion i've very much enjoyed it......and as a way of reviewing this pub (again) i remain very impressed with the range of drinks and the atmosphere and would recommend it to anyone.

The Pilot, Maidstone

Now one of my favourite pubs in Maidstone. Due to its isolated location outside of the main hub area it sees very few "chavs" and because of this is a great place to relax. On my last visit the area we sat had an array of board games and in particular the dominoes took out fancy as we spent a good amount of time (a group of 19 year olds) enjoying many games.

The Lobster Pot, West Malling

Went in there a few days ago and was pleasantly suprised. Have been to West Malling on a number of occassions but usually frequented establishments such as the Farmhouse, Five Pointed Star etc but on entering this pub i immediately noticed the friendly atmosphere it had. One of my mates was extremely happy with the wide range of ales available and the other mate seemed happy enough to let off some storming farts to which the regulars seemed unmoved despite the loud noise. Overall it is a very welcoming pub and i shall definetly be returning whenever possible!

Ye Olde Thirsty Pig, Maidstone

Don't think i've seen more goths in one place before. They are every in this gaff. It's a very unique pub with floors and ceilings that are all over the show (thus meaning a bang on the head is never out of the equation). It's not a bad pub to enjoy one drink but spending to long in there could be one jar too many.

Style & Winch, Maidstone

Excellent pub to down a quick jar whilst on a night out. Has friendly bar staff, a good pool table and an excellent beer garden, which looks more like a normal back garden. The table football is also a right touch and has caused many a funny moment after a few drinks.

Earl's, Maidstone

Rude bar staff, pirate tv (although thats not always a bad thing, just a sign of how bad this place really is), shocking clinentel. Overall bad pub. Advisable to stay clear!

Society Rooms, Maidstone

Not the best pub in town but it is sufficient to start an evening out. The food availbe is always top notch and at extremely reasonable prices. The courtyard/garden is very quaint and provides a good atmosphere. This is far better than the other Wetherspoons in town, although that is not exactly difficult.

2 Oct 2006 14:04

The Muggleton Inn, Maidstone

A huge disappointment. The building itself has huge potential, not least because it is so large and old. The fact it has been turned into a haven for kids who are looking to move onto ikon or moons has made it more like a wannabe night club when a traditional pub with real ales and wide ranging lagers would suit much better. It is also not a patch on Society Rooms which appears far more classy.

2 Oct 2006 14:02

The Druids Arms, Maidstone

One of the better pubs in the town. One of the few placed where Heineken is available and for the more discerning customer the range of drinks availble is quite large. The beer garden is quite unique in that it looks more like a converted courtyard but the overhead heaters are a right touch! Excellent range of fruitys which pay out quite frequently.

2 Oct 2006 13:58

The Admiral Gordon, Maidstone

Excellent pub for students and old men alike. The 2 sides to the pub seperate the clientel nicely with the older types preferring to relax one side and the students preferring the opposite side with the jukebox, pool table, dart board and access to the beer garden. Overall superb pub with friendly bar staff.

2 Oct 2006 13:54

Drakes, Maidstone

Was a superb find a few months back due to its isolated location. The sudden change to over 21's has been a terrible move as the pub served a wide range of drinks and had a very good sized beer garden which was good to relax in of a night time or during the day
