I am informed there is a new landlady.
Will the pub change for the better?

Had a couple of Palmers real ales, not too bad. We were going to eat here until we saw the menu prices.
It is being renovated with scafolding adorning the out side.

Likewise Jules44, certainly a bit tatty outside, and that was just the customers.

Like many of St. Austell Brewery pubs the bar staff are often preoccupied elsewhere rather than serving the punters, a decent pint though.

On a recent visit I was somewhat disappointed by the condition of the real ale, which is kept on the back of the bar (in barrels). The food is tasty with generous portions for the hungry.

Had a lovely pint of `Proper Job` in here whist waiting for our takeaway curry from accross the road.

Stayed here in the lodge overnight, clean, tidy and spacious.
The eating areas are large but the bars are too small when busy. St. Austell real ales are well kept and the food portions generous, worth a visit.

There was a great deal of controversy when the owners dropped the correct name after its refurb. Local people power prevailed and the pub was called by its proper name, "THE EAGLE", as shown under the words Toby Carvery at Snaresbrook.
The beer is very very expensive. There also now one of those over priced lodges for use by reps.

Popped in for a drink at lunchtime. The barman was very helpful and enthusiastic, unusual. The beer was well kept, we both had a very full and tasty sandwich, most of the space was taken up by locals having lunch and enjoying it.
Well worth a visit.

New Bloody big TV screens. One unable to have a quiet drink as the bar staff will have these oversized Tv`s on even when no one is watching. The beer is getting very pricey unless you drink the crap lager. The usual riotess football supporters are driving out the `decent` clientel. The landlady is as pleasant as ever.

Stayed one night B&B on our way to deepest Cornwall. The room was excellent and a very generous breakfast.
The large screen TV spoilt it in the bar as it was on very loud, and no one was watching it. There is a comprehensive menu, and a carvery most nights. The drinking areas are split, there is also a large garden with a kids play area.

Lovely local, very busy in the holiday season. Serves large portions of well cooked food, and the Real Ale is in tip top condition. The bus from St Austell stops right outside.

It has changed for the better since renovation last year. I beleive it is owned the Cornish Brewer "Skinners". Well kept beer and a good selection of tasty food. Right on the harbour front.

Hello southfields, sorry to be so long in replying, I am glad we belong to the same St Albans based company. Although I hail from the northern side of the Thames I do spend many weeks holidaying and drinking in Cornwall. We tend to drink mainly lunchtimes in Snozzel, the evenings are spent traipsing around Mev.(the Ship and Fountain are hostelries) We do not do B&B but I am told the White Hart is ok to stay. Not much goes on in Charlestown after the tourists leave.
