The Diamond Tap, Newbury

I'd like to recommend this establishment but the music weekends have turned it into a meeting spot for the giro hordes/chavs of Thatcham to defy their ASBO's and get all lary on taxpayer funded shant! Burberry wearing swines that they are!

The Hope Tap, Reading

The HOPE Tap? Abandon hope all yea who enter here more ****king like it! Where is the hope in a bunch of unemployed giro rustlers and bar staff on six pound an hour? Edgar A. Poe wouldn't even put that cobblers into a tome! The best thing that can be said about this place is one day someone will put a fist in the face of the mouthy drunken giro-scroungers/drug addict types who frequent it and abuse the staff.

The Blagrave Arms, Reading

This pub has always had a dubious quality to it and I have to concur with the comments below; the influx of your overseas criminal types in the Reading area led to it's downfall. Perhaps they'd be better suited to the equally dubious Polish pub near Central swimming pool?

The River Bar, Tower Bridge

A most excellent establishment; ignore the naysayers below, they appear to be of the senile variety.

The Chequers, Woodley

One is not really sure how anyone can consider the nefarious Chequers to have improved anytime in the last century. I was unfortunate enough to have risked a return visit this past week to be confronted by this year's winner of "The Rudest Barmaid/Gnome Award". I took objection to the fact whilst I, a paying customer, had been waiting five or so minutes she let a fellow gnome (albeit a balding male one) push in then be given free cider without any indication he would pay now or later. Why he was receiving free Strongbow is anyone's guess but for reasons of good taste I don't want to consider the possible favours this freebie entailed. I pointed this fact out and was asked to mind my own business but upon sitting down noticed the fellow was back again within 10 minutes and sure enough another free pint was forthcoming. I can only presume this Marge (I think that was her name) must have shares in the pub otherwise they could be out of business at this rate!

The Coronet, Holloway

Cracking pub, they keep out the riff-raff. If anyone doesn't like it they can always try Dale Farm. Are you having that? I sure am!

Nags Head, Reading

The Nags Head used to be a decent ale house but since becoming a homosexual haunt standards have clearly dropped. I am not homophobic in any shape or form but it has to be said; enough is enough. It wouldn't be so bad if the pub hadn't formerly been a Royals favourite but to go from footie bar to fudgey bar is a step too drastic I fear!

The Retreat, Reading

A rather characterless venue. The main problem is a very poor and expensive selection of ales. Not one for the real ale brigade I'm afraid.

Corn Exchange, Reading

A delightful venue that has thankfully changed little throughout the years whilst always maintained very high standards of customer service. Despite it's location next to Reading Station it has also luckily avoided the trappings of attracting the football crowds who have plagued other nearby pubs. The building itself has a rich history in the area and it is nice to see renovations haven't destroyed the charm or allure of the place.
