The Pillars of Hercules, Soho

been in a couple of times, usually in early evening, and always impressed by the condition of what is on. is easy to forget you are in the middle of Soho as you can escape the bustle and relax in a bit of an "olde worlde" setting that is not a tourist trap.

The Chequers, Chipping Norton

Visited several times in the last few months and the beer is always in good nick and served well. Always a guest on for those who don't love Fullers and good knowledgeable staff plus a good friendly landlord who knows his beer! Not tried food so can't comment but what I have seen looks good...

The Pear Tree Inn, Hook Norton

Having read these reviews I wonder if i was in the same pub... staff on duty were very friendly and helpful but of the 6 real ale pumps only one had Hookey and another had Bombadier and the rest were off. So much for being the brewery tap. And a good lick of paint and some attention to the furnishings wouldnt go amiss. No suprise there was very very little custom whilst I was there. Surely the brewery need to get a grip?

The Falkland Arms, Great Tew

Believe there was a major change in staff and management about easter time that could explain why I found it much better than some of the earlier reviews had painted the place. I tried a couple of the guest ales and had no complaints. The setting just adds to the experience with the long tables out front and the charming beer garden out back. Am sure I shall be back for a few more now the standards are so good again.
