17 Feb 2009 15:30

The Goose, Romford

sucha shame about the sniff heads in the place now.. well and truely lost what it used to have.

18 Sep 2008 00:40

The White Hart, Hornchurch

has anyone maybe reported the barman to the old bill? maybe that would be better than the brewery

18 Sep 2008 00:31

The Hogshead, Hornchurch

to redo my last..

i wont be going back there after my second visit..

beer was fine, football was good prices were ok..

getting a phone call from my mate aftr we had both left for our homes stating that some chavs from the pub had tried to give him a kicking because we were playing pool when they wanted to does not endear me to the pub or area.
luckily my mate gave them a kicking instead.

15 Jul 2008 06:06

The Admiral Nelson, Whitton

Was up twickenham way for the Iron Maiden gig, popped in for a uick pint to kill the thirst.

Decent priced drinks, staff appeared friendly.. would revisit

13 Jul 2008 03:32

The Devonshire Arms, Camden

Not been for ages but always a place i pop into for a pint or two while cd shopping in RR.

4 May 2008 20:50

O'Neills, Soho

Didnt have a bad night in here last night.
Cheap rounds which is a bonus.

4 May 2008 20:36

All Bar One, Leicester Square

Visited this place last night only briefley though as we planned to move on.
Had a few drinks and Got served quickly each time. Bar staff friendly and beer affordable.

4 May 2008 20:33

Brannigans, Romford

went there last night.. Beer was poor and i nearly threw up aftermy 1st pint there.
my mate did on the way home.

Always seem to feel very dodgy after a fe3w beers from this place, and cant figure out why..
Anyways, probably wont be going back for a olong time.

3 May 2008 15:42

The Bitter End, Romford

Thanks to the owner wanting to lose money there will be a massive lack of metal nights now happening at this venue.
Which is kind of strange seeing as every time they had a heavy metal orientated live band night the pub was absolutly rammed, seriously, you couldnt fall over if you tired it was that busy.
Pity the pool tables havent been replaced with the refurb and the cues might as well still have branches on them but meh, im still beating my mates.
The old crowd seems to have vanished forever and this place is overrun by children on their way to pacific edge.

2 May 2008 07:46

The Harrow, Hornchurch

Went in here on my way to Hornchurch for football and beers..
firstly i got ID'd.... which kind of threw me, i havent been ID'd for at least 6 years now. maybe they were checking the Id of everyone definatly over the age of 21 so they could say they have done their job or something..
Ok pint for an OKish price. i must be getting used to cheaper places in Romford.
Because it was chucking down there were no chav scum in the area let alone the pub.
Staff seemed friendly enough.
Will probably pop back. although when the sun comes out i'm steering well clear.

2 May 2008 07:36

The Hogshead, Hornchurch

Went here recently for the football only because we couldnt see the screens in the firkin down the road.
good priced beer, loads of screens, loud shouting muppets..

but as has been mentioned previous, they are everywhere these days.
more than likely to pop back if my mates decide to leave the Romford area for pastures new

2 May 2008 07:23

The Durham Arms, Romford

This pub has improved alot since the refurbishment.
Pop in occasionally for a pint, and if the football is on then i'll be in there for the duration.
Good priced pints.
Was it me or did the pint prices seem to go up every single week under the last bloke??

2 May 2008 07:20

The New Chandos, Colindale

Only popped in about 6 times whilst training at the nearby centre, Decent priced beers, ok food couple of pool tables which is all good..
Would viist again if in the area.

2 May 2008 07:17

The Old Oak, Romford

Not a bad pub, been in there once or twice on my way to or from Romford, Reasonable beer and staff are alright

27 Sep 2007 09:18

The York, Islington

Been in here a few times when up in islington for gigs or the club behind Angel.
Usually quick service and the pints are alright, decently priced as well.
Will be going back again next time im up that way.

No idea what the food is like.

27 Sep 2007 08:53

The Goose, Romford

Been Refurbed and lost the atmosphere, now it has joined the chain pub clone look

10 Sep 2007 21:51

The Hamilton Hall, Liverpool Street

nice pub, always good to find a fairly inexpensive place for lunch in central london.

12 Aug 2007 00:42

The Durham Arms, Romford

apparently now owned by the bloke who owns the Ruskin Arms in east ham.
being refurbished.

6 Aug 2007 20:16

Optimist Tavern, Upminster

went on monday for a ncie lunch with the family..

ordered quick and got a round of drinks in, over an hour passes and no sign of our food.
i could accept that wait if the pub was busy but it was very very empty, only two other tables eating.
got a free round of drinks by way of apology but not sure when i'll be popping back.

they didnt even get the order right.

1 Aug 2007 11:39

The Durham Arms, Romford

Will probably go downhill since the shooting in there last week.

19 Jun 2007 08:12

Moon On The Square, Basildon

The staff are the friendliest i have ever come across. which is weird considering that Its BASILDON, home of dole scum work dodgers and poundland theives.

Usually pop in on my lunch break with my boss for a pint and meal before going back to work.

Foods good and so is the beers. can get a bit crowded though.
why is it though that no matter what time i go in there and no matter the day the same people are sitting in exactly the same places shouting their next drink order to the bar staff.

9 Jun 2007 21:10

The Bitter End, Romford

Apart from the bull i am in here alot more than i used to.. The gigs aside which i skip because of the price hike on the booze, its a decent pub and metal played is good..

Also, the fact that the guys booking the bands have ambitions for more than local bands ( they are after Napalm Death) shows ambition to be more than the usual metal pub..

12 Mar 2007 15:53

The Goose, Romford

If the ex trax customers would go back it would be better.. its rammed every night now which makes the place hot and takes ages to get served.

still cheapest pub in romford though

12 Mar 2007 15:48

The Bull, Romford

This pub has now become my local. Since trax got raided by the drug squad and the customers flooded to the goose and didnt leave i decided to.
Good pub.

12 Mar 2007 15:44

Archers, Gidea Park

Went there during last summer and found it to be an alright pub. some loud chelsea fans by the tv but you get that in all pubs that show sport.
beer wasnt too bad price wise. only stayed for a few hours as i was heading to romford.
i would go again but it is well out of my way and i have plenty of places nearer.

12 Mar 2007 15:42

Yates's, Romford

Haqving been a metallhead through my teens and still into it at 23 i used to despise this kind of place.
Went in with my cousin the other week for a few more after leaving the lamb, nice and quiet midweek evening. fairly cheap drinks staff seemed alright.
one of my mates wouldnt take too kindly to calling the bouncers arrogant but to be honest most bouncers are. didnt have any problems with this lot though.
Would probably revisit when dressed appropriatly.

12 Mar 2007 15:40

The Life Bar, Romford

Used to be a regular on the Alt music nights every sunday back when it was Life bar..
Have ventured back in there a few weeks ago after my mate and i watched our football team slaughter someone..
Ended up so drunk he couldnt see and i could hardly walk. and we both still had plenty of cash left over, which is usually unheard of.
pretty nice atmosphere and the music wasnt so loud you have to scream in your mates ear to be heard..

12 Mar 2007 15:35

The Lamb, Romford

Food isnt too bad there although i have only eaten there once..
Its a proper poky little place but in the current climate of gastro pubs and chain pub cloning this is a good thing.
Has recently been taken over and has been empty most of the times i have been there lately.

28 Feb 2007 20:33

The Crown, Islington

Popped in here at the end of october to see a bit of the football before heading to the Academy.
Not too bad for london prices beer wise, but after chatting with a few other people and glancing at the menu it did seem ridiculously expensive. Still, people were eating so maybe the food is worth it.
staff seemed friendly but i'd have to frequent the place a few more times to be a propper judge.
overall, an ok place for a few pints.

27 Nov 2006 12:38

The Black Heart, Camden

Went to this pub to catch a bit of the Tottenham match last sunday.
first time i have been in and might pop back if some of the other pubs are too packed for my taste.
As far as it goes for quiet sunday drink and football match it doesnt seem too bad, only problem i had was i kept having to go downstairs to the bar then upstairs to the football..
not bad..

27 Nov 2006 12:32

The Grand Central, Manchester

had a great time in the Gc on friday and saturday... rammed though..

Will again be popping in next time i am tup narth...

19 Oct 2006 21:56

The White Hart, Hornchurch

Have been popping to this one longer than i can remember, food is always good, very family orientated with the resturant area in the back.
not been for a while so cant comment much on the beer prices but wasnt a bank nreaker last time i went.
out in the sticks so having a designated driver is pretty much essential.
the police do like to hang around nearby and stop cars.

30 Sep 2006 16:43

Optimist Tavern, Upminster

bit difficult to get to if you dont want to drive.
nice chain pub, food isnt bad, prices are ok, if i remember rightly.
staff were friendly not a bad place to go to.

30 Sep 2006 16:41

Good Intent, Hornchurch

Used to go there before my mate moved to Birmingham.
Fairly decent prices, great sports coverage on the screens, Pool tables and dart board always good.
Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere.

30 Sep 2006 16:35

The Bull, Romford

Pretty good pub, decent prices and a fairly good atmosphere. Its definatly one of the better chavish pubs in the Romford area.
great for the Football, and playing pool. Even though i am usually being beaten by my mates. Shame theres not much room to move around the pool tables though.
Staff are always friendly and most are up for a laugh.
Gets very busy on a Friday and Saturday night..

30 Sep 2006 16:02

Crown, Hornchurch

disgusting place, staff are rude and look like they despise everyone that walks through the door.
beer is terrible
prices are very steep

absolute dive, walk 5 mins and go to the durham arms

7 Dec 2005 16:35

Huntsman and Hounds, Upminster

Before the refurb it was a nice pub for food and drinks, now it is bad.
We went there once for a meal to celebrate my brothers birthday and the staff were utterly incompetant.
The manager had gone on a skiing holiday and left the pub in the hands of trainees and agency staff.
Most of what we ordered was not in stock and in the end i had to settle for a plate of Chips (which never arrived).
The rest of my family ordered their food and we began an hours wait for half cooked and re-heated food.
In defence of the assistant manager, most of his staff had walked out ahlfway through our wait and he alone was struggling to manage the bar. We did get a free round of drinks and our money back as we left and got a chinese instead.

23 Apr 2005 15:40

The Harrow, Hornchurch

Not bad if you are there for drinks only.
The food is good but the staff seem incompetant when it comes to getting the orders right.
Seems to be getting a reputation as a pub for chavs to go and get bladdered before going elsewhere.

23 Apr 2005 15:35

The Bay Horse, Chelmsford

Was there for halloween, good music, ok priced drinks compared to other places out in essex.
pool table was a good way to make the night fly by.
might go back if i am ever in chelmsford and bored.

23 Apr 2005 15:30

The Life Bar, Romford

aint too bad a place to go
finally started doing nights for the alternative crowd again but they seem intent on ripping off their punters for the first half hour each tuesday night.
the staff or management dont get the till prices changed until half an hour after the place opens, which means you could pay almost double for a pint.

still, aint a bad place, does snakebite blacks which is a bonus. has big screen tv's which play pretty much anything from trippy 70's kids cartoons to football or jap kung fu films.
staff competancy varies between each bar person.

21 Apr 2005 23:31

Brannigans, Romford

was really good on a wednesday, got in wearing steel toed workboots and jeans.
beer wasnt bad for trendy clubs prices.
music was ok. atmosphere was good

21 Apr 2005 23:25

Golden Lion, Romford

occasionally had a few in here before going to clubs, just because its near the clubs and it aint the ford and firkin (AVOID).
not too bad for beers but i wouldnt make it my regular.

21 Apr 2005 23:14

J J Moons, Hornchurch

Used to go there during lesons when i was at college up the road.
i still look 15 so i have no idea how i got served back then.
still, was a fairly decent place to have a few bout 4 odd years back, cant say i have gone back there since though. i have have found better places to meet mates in.

if i remember rightly the drinks were fairly cheap, as it is with most wetherspoons.
never ate in there so i cant comment on that.

21 Apr 2005 23:07

The Cat And Canary, Canary Wharf

Wasnt a bad place to go and watch England stuff ireland a few weeks back.
bit more pricey than i am used to but i wasnt drinking much anyways.

21 Apr 2005 23:03

The Durham Arms, Romford

Local little boozer about 5 minutes walk from my house.
not bad place for a few pints whilst watching the football.
toilets are a bit grotty but i have seen a hell of a lot worse.
prices wernt too bad for 2 pints a round.
friendly staff but it does seem to be a local pub for local people. the kind who look on new people like they do in wild west movies.

21 Apr 2005 22:57

The Worlds End, Camden

not a bad place, go there each time i go camden, because after the hassle of traveling from romford and the endless packed out trains i need a pint before getting dragged round the markets.
bit pricey, but place looks good.

it is the only place of any kind that i have sat inside and still got rained on.
next time it starts to rain dont have the flipping skylights open.
still aint a bad place

21 Apr 2005 22:55

The Oxford Arms, Camden

went once whilst trekking through the markets and shops of camden.
my mate got his wallet emptied when he got a double malibu.

go to the worlds end, its got a better atmosphere.

21 Apr 2005 22:52

The Moon and Stars, Romford

nice during the day.

Do not go to after 6-7pm as it is full of chav p**s heads going to time and envy.

food aint too bad same with prices.

staff get very annoyed if you dont care to know the difference between coke and pepsi.

21 Apr 2005 22:48

The Grand Central, Manchester

Hailing from essex, its way too much of a treck to go regularly.
seeing as i spent my 21st in manchester, planning on Jillys rock world for the friday, this pub is over the road.
Fantastic jukebox full of excellent music.

The fact that the place serves Jagermeister (which none of the pubs i have gone to down south sell) is a true blessing.
Great cocktail list which had my mates in fits at some of the names.
Bar staff were attentive friendly and competant.
When i am next in Manchester i will be drinking there again.

21 Apr 2005 22:45

Ben Crouch's Tavern, Fitzrovia

Decent place for a drink, specially if you are going to a totalrock meet. Close to the tubes which is good for anyone traveling into zone 1.
Good times to be had at all the eerie pubs but this one is my fave.

21 Apr 2005 22:41

The Marlborough Head, Marble Arch

Not attended on too many occasions but their New Years parties are fantastic.
Prices are decent and staff are friendly.

21 Apr 2005 22:39

The Ruskin Arms, Manor Park

The pub is a nice place with fairly friendly staff, the club bit in the back looks as it did in all the footage of old Iron Maiden gigs.
not my choice of pub but cant complain when my girlfriend wants to see some mates.

the music is pretty decent if you are into the heavy metal scene at all.

21 Apr 2005 22:38

Goose, Brixton

not a bad place.
only been there on two occasions when i have gone to gigs at the academy.

21 Apr 2005 22:36

The Goose, Romford

Decent pub, true the smoke is way too think in there but its a pub not an oxygen tent, and i dont smoke.

Great place to chill out in the summer in the garden. which is a nice change to the grotty cobbles allyways that all the other pubs in romford seem to have.

Prices are very very good, bar staff are very competant and friendly.

Its a good place to have a few before going to any of the local clubs.

21 Apr 2005 22:35

The Bull and Gate, Kentish Town

was there last saturday with a mate while our repective girlfriends went to see cradle of filth up the road.
personally i thought the beers were a little over priced, even for london prices, the barstaff seemed to do a fair immitation of Brad Pitts character from snatch in that i couldnt understand a word they said.
still, not a bad little pub for a pre gig drink i guess.
