Now this place is a shit hole. One bar and one kind of customer - scruff. Don't visit here unless your on the dole or very, very lonely.

The Pride of Pimlico, Pimlico

this pub I know very well. I used to go here every Friday night and have a great dance. The pub then was run by an Irish fella, nice bloke, I fancied his misses, but she said to me that it wouldn't work. She was right. Only had one fight in here. Never got on the tables, but a fun pub at the time. Good Fosters, good staff and good company. Recommend to a tourist.

The Towngate, Fodderwick

A large, but bland pub that as yet have not banned smoking. The prices are fair. Populated by rough chain smoking types during the day and rough chain smoking types during the night. Typical of Basildon pubs, museum atmosphere and wax faces.

The Castlemayne, Basildon

Good pub if you are deaf. If not the bands will cause you to go deaf. Still at least it does have entertainment.

The Beehive, Upper Basildon

Friendly place in a decent location, but the prices are too high. �2.50 for a pint of Fosters, whereas just accross the square same pint for �1.70! Frequented by chavs who wish to upgrade.

Moon On The Square, Basildon

A large, but bland pub. Now non smoking, but have installed TV's which is the worst thing to have happened to pubs ever. It takes a long time to get a drink. Here this is a law. Populated by mostly low lifes and alcoholics during the day most of whom are nailed to their seats. After 8pm the younger set come out, mostly wood-be-hoods and their molls. The meals are decent at a resonable price. Good situation for people watching.
