The Counting House, Bank

Visited her for the first time... and not a suit on sight. I suppose coming on a Saturday helped.
Enjoyed the ESB very much along with some of the guest beers, including the 'new' London Brewing Company's Beer Street.

The Bull, Highgate

Wow! What a change from when I was last here...
Their own brews are very good, "London Brewing Co" Nervous Energy (an American Pale Ale @ 4.2), Beer Street (a best bitter @ 4.0) & Golden Ale (a golden ale @ 3.7) where going well...
They're doing a one off Pumpkin Beer for halloween from the 28th.

The Settle Inn, Battersea

Re Opened as "THE PRINCE OF WALES"

The Assembly House, Kentish Town

Blinds down and sign on the door reads.
"Closed for 6 weeks for refurbishment, see you in June."

The Lion and Unicorn, Kentish Town

Refurb nearing completion, scaffolding down, but bar area still being fitted out.
Looks like the pool table has gone & that area has become the kitchen & dining area.

The Driver, Kings Cross

WARNING
The map is wrong... The symbol is pointing at the real location of the 'London Canal Museum' & the London Canal Museum symbol is where The Driver is situated.
Confusing or what. ;-{}

The Southampton Arms, Gospel Oak

Mickyosan the main reason is it's to new, secondly the North London branch of CamRA OS at our maximum of 45 pubs, possibly next year.

The Junction Tavern, Kentish Town

I have to agree with 'real_ale_mary', 'HTM69' has reviewing the Assembly House on Kentish Town Rd. Can't remember the last time the Junction had Abbott Ale and it's had more than 2 handpumps for years.

The Southampton Arms, Gospel Oak

A great addition to this area... A shame I'm moving out of the area to a bit of an oasis called Wood Green.

The Jerusalem Tavern, Clerkenwell

If the previous review is to be believed... He wouldn't have had his account deleted, It's a shame some people just want to slag off everything they don't like, which would seem to be life with this one.
Yes there are some odd things such as the beer dispenced from 'obviously fake' barrels, try the 'Bree Louise' near Euston for real beer straight from the wood.

The Jerusalem Tavern, Clerkenwell

Finally made it here...
Not the biggest Public House around but the strange interior makes this place stand-out from the 'Identikit Pubs'...
Pub-Co people PLEASE take note; you can not give a pub atmosphere out of a box! It takes work and one manager not any Joe Blogg's straight from the Labour Exchange.

The King Charles I, Kings Cross

Got to be the best pub in the Kings Cross area.
Not pretentious, not a gastro-pub/restaurant (thankfully) just a simple local, the sort of place that should be kept.
Food is bring your own, or order deliveries to the pub.
Beers on this evening where 'London Pride' & 'Wadworths Henrys IPA' both in good order, the Deuchers IPA was ready Just wanted pulling through.

The Vinum Bar And Restaurant, Kentish Town

The "Grand Union Classic Burger Bar & Cocktail Lounge" to give this place its full title, seems to think it's in Highgate.
I've sent them any email pointing out that the place is in no way in Highgate, but Kentish Town, but have had no responce from d'er management.
From what I've seen of it, dark & dingy as other Grand Union berger joints, I'm not going to even bother with the place.

The Wenlock Arms, Hoxton

Hey 'Prendergast' if you don't like real ale then don't go there...
Try a fizz factory elsewhere, one that doesn't mind your foul language.

The Vinum Bar And Restaurant, Kentish Town

The latest incarnation of this place is "Grand Union", only saw the name as I drove past haven't been inside to see the latest refit.
I'll have to have a wonder past/in sometime.

The White Horse, Sibton

Just spent a great 8 day holiday based at the White Horse, which by the way is correctly known as the "Sibton White Horse".
The four hand pumps have Adnams Bitter & Adnams Broadside as regular beers, the third one has a guest beer, initially 'St Peter's Golden Ale' followed by Brandon Brewery's 'Rusty Bucket' The fourth is left clean ready for the next beer to come on, so the location of each beer will change over time.
The food was varied & good.
All in all a great place to stay/eat/drink (delete as appropriate).
NOTE: Monday is quiz night, so food isn't always on so phone before you go there to eat.

The Tally Ho, Kentish Town

The fate of the Tally Ho was sealed long before the new licensing regulations...
Camden Council's Planning Office have agreed plans to demolish the Tally Ho & replace it with a new 5/6 storey building with 33 flats & new "shop" premises.
The initial application was November 2004.

The Camden Eye, Camden

It's re-opened... As "The Camden Eye" I only saw the outside, from a passing bus. The black paint seems to have been replaced with an off white / light grey colour.

25 Sep 2006 21:35

Quinn's, Camden

Why bother with the Draught, when you've a choice of 32 German & 62 Belgium bottled beers.

Been there three times & haven't had the same beer twice yet... but I'm trying... hic

21 Sep 2006 18:00

The Camden Eye, Camden

By all accounts it will reopen as the "Camden Eye"
why must old pubs be renamed?
We want to see what happens to it...
(But I'm not going to hold my breath)

21 Sep 2006 17:51

The Vinum Bar And Restaurant, Kentish Town

The new name is "Vinum Bar & Restaurant"
Not a hand pump in site... more of a restaurant, than a bar now.
