The Globe, Brixham

Now named The old coaching inn, a superb transformation, l love brixham but the cask ale in most pubs leaves a lot to be desired.
Not here a good selection of well kept ales served straight from the cask, always an enjoyable visit,so much so we've decided to come down for new year, oh...friendly staff complete the picture +++++

10 Dec 2019 16:19

Derby Arms, Chorley

Now well and truly back to its former disgusting self....cask ale now removed due to lack of interest, but who needs it when you can shovel gallons of fosters down your throat.

30 Jan 2019 11:55

The Queens Arms, Brixham

Best selection of well kept and served cask ales in Brixham, full stop. A little off the beaten track but only about 15 minutes walk from the centre, a proper pub with some good music on at weekends, bad point, the pub sound system sounds crap!

23 Jul 2018 21:09

Yates's, Chorley

Now called pearsons some decent ales usually on at a decent price, TV screens on every wall and a sound system that is so bad it's like having nails driven in your ears.

17 Jul 2018 16:48

The Yarrowbridge, Chorley

Now a flaming grill emporium, small selection of cask ales, from black edge brewery on our visit, don't go in very often as it's usually full of chavs and prams.

17 Jul 2018 16:42

The Hop Pocket, Chorley

Now closed, don't know if and when it's reopening.

17 Jul 2018 16:23

Top Lock, Heapey

Now under new ownership, most of the cask ale gone and prices raised dramatically, don't see many people there for some reason.

16 Jul 2018 16:44

Sir Henry Tate, Chorley

Usually a decent selection of well kept cask ales at around £2-20 a pint, not a place I would spend all evening but great for a couple of pints and some decent cheap food

16 Jul 2018 16:28

16 Jul 2018 16:28

The George, Chorley

Caught fire over a year ago, not opened since.

16 Jul 2018 15:52

The Bob Inn, Chorley

Great market place micro pub has won some camra awards, good ever changing range of cask and bottled ales, should be more places like this.

16 Jul 2018 15:49

The Bretherton Arms, Chorley

Large TV screens all over the walls, vicious looking loudspeakers and posters saying karaoke 3 nights a week and vinagary tasting ale to complete the experience, a must to visit.

16 Jul 2018 15:43

Shepherds Arms, Chorley

Now another ex pub, converting to flats I believe, another piss only pub bites the dust.

16 Jul 2018 11:30

Derby Arms, Chorley

Recently refurbished and did have 3 cask ales on from moorhouses, went in a few weeks ago and rapidly decending back to it's former glory and closed down the day after, think it's reopened now, hard to tell....

16 Jul 2018 11:25

The Prince Of Wales, Chorley

Still a good selection of well kept ales, pub is now music themed but apart from a generally dismal open mike on Sundays no music is played in the week despite having stereo capability and real high fidelity sound available in all rooms.

15 Jul 2018 21:06

The Masons Arms, Chorley

Superb renovation of this previously fizz only pub, six hand pumps and a great selection of ales always on offer.

15 Jul 2018 20:52

The Leigh Arms and Station Hotel, Chorley

Now demolished, this is an ex pub!

15 Jul 2018 20:46

The Malt 'n' Hops, Chorley

Finest free house in Chorley, 9 hand pumps serving a great selection of superbly kept ales, live music most Sundays and a eclectic mix of music on the sound system, a must to visit if you're in Chorley.

4 May 2017 20:10

Brookes Arms, Chorley

This pub has disappeared, it is no more, it is an ex pub.

24 Jun 2016 19:49

Bullers Arms, Brixham

Called in to see if the beer had improved since our last visit, ordered 2 halfs of ipa that was so bad that drinking it would possibly have made you ill, was going to order some food but if they can't look after the beer no way am i eating anything there

25 Aug 2015 10:46

The Royal Bar, Morecambe

Great cask ale pub,six hand pumps good selection of ales in great condition from £2 a pint we tried crossbay sunset at £2-40 and a discount for camra members.
Good to see another real ale pub in Morecambe as not too long ago it was a beer desert.

29 Jun 2015 21:21

Brookes Arms, Chorley

Being demolished as I write this, another chorley pub gone forever.

7 Sep 2014 21:21

Colliers Arms, Chorley

Now being demolished as I write this, another chorley pub gone forever.

7 Sep 2014 21:10

Yew Tree Inn, Chorley

Cask ale £3-80 a pint lager almost £4 don't see many people going in just for a drink.
Good to see this pub is doing its bit to curb alcoholism

18 Aug 2014 21:53

The Maritime Inn, Brixham

I have to agree with the last posting this is the most characterful pub in Brixham and if you don't drink the cask ale you can have an enjoyable hour here. Unfortunately I and many more drink ale and it has been like paint stripper for at least 5 years at the least. Shame, good ale would make this pub the best in Torbay

14 Aug 2014 22:10

Royal Seven Stars Hotel, Totnes

We called in here on 5-8-14 but came out without buying a drink, checked the cask ale prices which you need a magnifying glass to read £ 3.85 a pint the most expensive ale I've ever seen, little wonder pubs are closing with greed like this

6 Aug 2014 18:50

The Blue Anchor, Brixham

Grat pub, friendly staff and most importantly good cask ales,
quite expensive £3.40 a pint but a bit less than most pubs in Brixham.

4 Aug 2014 18:36

Bullers Arms, Brixham

Good atmosphere but very poor cask ale, doombar stale and tired and the devon coast even worse, had to leave and try one in the blue anchor which was superb.
When you are being charged £3.60 a pint it's got to be perfect,
I don't know how these pubs stay open during the winter months.

4 Aug 2014 18:26

The Green Dragon Inn, Hardraw

Went to visit this pub with a view to staying for a few days, however after driving over 80 miles and ordering a pint of landlord I found the price was a breathtaking £ 3.80, even the guy that served me said it was 'out of order', decided to give it a miss, otherwise is a nice pub.

13 Jul 2014 20:32

Spinners Arms, Chorley

Not been in here for a couple of years, called in last week and ordered a pint of greene king ipa at 3.00,had a hint of vinegar with it and was served in a sticky fosters glass.
Not tried the food yet, don't think i will.

19 Jun 2012 23:31

The Buck Inn, Malham

Called in after a walk to Malham cove, 3.15 for a pint of Timothy taylors golden best mild just above freezing, the stench in the toilets made it difficult to breath.
Keep this in mind if you are thinking of ordering a vastly overpriced meal from this place.

5 Sep 2011 00:07

The Cavendish Arms, Brindle

Superb pub with the usual marstons cask ales in great condition.
A real ale festival has been held at the rear of the pub for the last two years from 24-27 June with free admission and over 40 ales on offer, unlike the top lock at wheelton where you will pay about 8 before you buy a drink. Keep it up, the best festival i've been to in years.

5 Jul 2010 23:50

Shepherds Arms, Chorley

If you like fizzy drinks and your hobbies include mindless violence give this pub a visit.

23 May 2010 00:07

The Potters Arms, Chorley

I know how doffcocker should taste and it should not taste like it has been filtered through a tramps underwear. If a pub sells cask ales they should know how to clean the lines and not try to sell ale past its sell by date.
This place should not be in the good beer guide.

20 Apr 2010 00:21

The Stork Inn, Thurnham

Probably the most expensive pub in the western world, 3.05 for a pint of Lancaster blonde, have to say though it was superb.
Food a little expensive just under nine quid for a burger.
Well it must keep the pond life out.

18 Apr 2010 21:42

Derby Arms, Chorley

There seems to be smokers outside this pub 24-7. No real ale.

4 Apr 2010 23:18

The Potters Arms, Chorley

I'm sure boltonbloke was in the potters, I called in on 11-3-10 and ordered a pint of doffcocker which must have been sat in the pipe for days and tasted like vinegar.
Won't be going in again after several substandard pints over the last year.
Trottertotheend must drink keg or have no taste buds

20 Mar 2010 18:07

Brookes Arms, Chorley

Now fully open and back to normal, walked past two weeks ago two police vans and two patrol cars breaking a fight up which had spread into the road.
Last week walked past just one police van parked outside, draging someone out, not been in to sample the ale.

30 Dec 2009 00:04

Lock and Quay, Chorley

Closed late October 09

1 Nov 2009 23:37

The Sloop Inn, St Ives

First time I have paid three quid for a pint of doombar in a pub that should be called THE COLD COMFORT ARMS.Why not visit the castle on fore street, better selection of cask ales, over twenty pence a pint less and service with a smile.

22 Sep 2009 01:00

Euxton Mills Hotel, Euxton

Great none microwave food, good selection of cask ales in good condition, jennings and banks on our visit.
Well worth a visit

3 Sep 2009 21:58

The George, Chorley

Called in here one saturday night, not been in for a couple of years, thought i was at a parents evening at albany high school.
Almost everyone was under age, some i know were thirteen years old, most were off their faces, the only person who looked about thirty was some slapper doing a strip on a table. Its unbelievable that any bar staff would serve these children when chorley police station is across the road.

26 Aug 2009 00:00

The Black Horse, Chorley

Reopened a few months ago,had a great beer festival in a marquee at the rear of the pub.
Always some decent cask ale on offer, well worth a visit.

15 Aug 2009 00:35

Top Lock, Heapey

Have to agree with manstien, trying to get to the bar when there are people sat there spouting crap and refusing to move.
Otherwise great pub.

13 Aug 2009 00:09

The Potters Arms, Chorley

True free house, but the cask ale can be hit and miss.
I have not been in for a couple of months as I had a few sub standard pints.
Best bet is to look what other people are drinking and buy that.
If your drink is smooth/fizzy/nitrokeg ignore all above statements.

12 Aug 2009 23:25

Brookes Arms, Chorley

Still closed, looks like it may be opening again any time now, dont expect any real ale.
Might be a good idea to book your fight in advance.

7 Aug 2009 00:40

Three Ferrets, St Ives

Awful drunken dump

29 May 2009 22:08

The Prince Of Wales, Chorley

The Queens Arms, Chorley

Now closed

3 Mar 2009 16:34

The Albion, Chorley

NOW CLOSED.Dont expect it to open again as a pub, hope i am wrong.

16 Feb 2009 23:40

The Kings Arms, Morecambe

Called in on a sunday afternoon.A large dismal pub with only keg beer, walked back out.

16 Feb 2009 22:02

Yates's, Chorley

Now called THE BLOB SHOP.
Walked in one evening, most people drunk, only fizzy/nitrokeg drinks, walked back out.

10 Feb 2009 19:57

The Hop Pocket, Chorley

Have to agree with boltonbloke on a few points.
Dragged to this pub by my wife for a northern soul night.
the disco had the sound of a 1970s amstrad rack system, but the Thwaites cask ale was exellent.
Called in again a few weeks later on a rock and blues night, good music and the ale in great condition.

5 Feb 2009 23:50

Crown and Anchor, Brixham

Cask ale not to good on my visit (summer08) must have been sitting in the pipes for quite a while, shame as it is a nice pub

31 Jan 2009 00:04

Vigilance, Brixham

Last time we visited this pub (summer 08) there was a good selection of well kept cask ales, probably the best in brixham, and the usual wetherspoons food.
Well worth a visit.

30 Jan 2009 23:54

The Blue Anchor, Helston

Have been trying to visit this pub since 1977,managed it last summer.
One of the best pubs i have been in,superb pub brewed spingo ales, great staff and locals, everything a pub should be.
Only problem i was driving, next time we will get b+b in Helston

25 Jan 2009 21:14

The Lord Nelson, Nelson

Had the misfortune to deliver some alcopops to this place, almost got hit by the landlord because the company had sent the wrong brand of piss.
In all my drinking life this is one of the worst pubs i have entered.

24 Jan 2009 13:06

The Craic In The Wall, Colne

Had to deliver some spirits to this dive and collect the money, didnt think i would get out alive.
Never seen so much pond life in such a small place.
cant imagine why anyone who values there safety would visit this place.

23 Jan 2009 19:54

JJ Moon's, Kingsbury

Visited this pub three or four times mid week when i was working in paddington, the cask ale was very good, and the staff were great, good prices for london.

11 Jan 2009 23:39

The Briton's Protection Hotel, Castlefield

Discovered this pub when we came out of the motorcycle show.
Six cask ales in great condition, good service, a bit pricey 2.80 a pint.

11 Jan 2009 20:18

The White Bull, Chorley

Now selling Banktop ales in great condition ,friendly staff ,nice pub.
Well worth a visit

9 Jan 2009 19:41

The TimeSquare, Chorley

Reopened selling overpriced fizz.
Has about as much character as KFC

9 Jan 2009 16:59

The Queens Arms, Chorley

Used to have good selection of well kept cask ale and some good bands.
Change of owner/tennant cask ale removed, now most its customers have left, clever move !

9 Jan 2009 16:50

The Prince Of Wales, Chorley

Possibly the best kept cask ales in chorley.
Jenning ales and two or three guest ales, vast selection of single malt whisky
