The White Horse, Leamington Spa

Went there for Sunday lunch and a few beers with friends, great place, reasonably priced good food and ok selection of beers and ales. I like the relaxed furnishings and the randomness of the place. Had a great outside covered area wth heaters for the smokers.

Friendly, chatty staff.

Recommend highly although haven't been there on a busy night.

The Inn on the Mile, Edinburgh

Busy, fairly cheap bar in a nice and central location, quite a few tourists. Ok for a quick drink on your travels through Edinburgh but wouldn't spend the whole night there, too many more bars to explore.

6 Jul 2010 23:43

The Tron Tavern, Edinburgh

What can I say? One lager on tap - flat and warm. No atmosphere, sticky floor, bar and tables. I was disappointed as it was the worst pub by far I have visited on my trips to Edinburgh and in such a great location too!

The downstairs was a bit smelly, follow the smell to the toilets which had no loo roll and no soap, not much to ask.

Felt like a proper chain pub but worse, it was a Saturday night but poor show!

6 Jul 2010 23:38

Joseph Pearce's, Edinburgh

Loving this bar for a lunchtime or midweek beer, food good too. Gets very busy of a weekend evening but always a good atmosphere. Can get very busy at the the bar at the weekends and need to get there early for a seat.

Outside seating area is great for people watching on a sunny/ dry day. Highly recommend.

6 Jul 2010 23:20

The Victoria Bar, Leith

Wonderful bar, really friendly, great selection of beers on tap and bottled. The inside is beautifully decorated.

Always a great welcome and a good night!

6 Jul 2010 23:12

The Harbour Inn, Leith

A great pub right by the old harbour in Newhaven. Small bar area with some seating but opens up into a large lounge area up a few steps. Has a small seating area outside.

Great friendly atmosphere, a proper locals pub that welcomes new comers with open arms and a good pint.

Couple of screens for big sporting events and has music and open nights for local musicians.

Highly recommend! Love it!

6 Jul 2010 23:07

The Oddfellows Arms, Keswick

Was here during the week for a pub lunch and pint while camping locally. The beer garden is along a path out the back of the pub, which leads to the pay and display ac park. Access from the beer garden is up very steep and narrow steps, not great for children or older people.

The food was very basic, frozen, reheated and nothing to write home about I'm afraid and I can't even say much about my pint of lager as it was nothing to write home about either.

7 Jun 2009 21:14

Royal Oak, Braithwaite

Popped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon with friends when camping for a week locally. It was a bit of a miserable day with rain and fairly cold. The pub was very welcoming, warm and very friendly staff. We ordered food and were all really suprised at the huge portion sizes - good food too which catered for all our very different tastes.

Good pint and excellent selection of soft drinks for the drivers. Dogs were welcome but not during food service which was fair enough, if the weather had been good enough, there was a good outside space.

Would recommend definitely during lunchtime anyway but haven't been there for an evening beer...

7 Jun 2009 21:11

Bailie Bar, Stockbridge

Lovely food, wonderful Guinness and friendly staff. Beautiful looking pub too and very comfortable. Was a bit on the pricey side compared to other pubs in the area but not too bad. Could do with getting some extra herbal options in on the tea front.

6 Apr 2009 19:16

The Regent, Edinburgh

I absolutely love this pub. Good beer and Guinness and also a mean cup of herbal tea! Really friendly atmosphere, really relaxed and very clean with good service and fairly priced.

WiFi is a bonus and it's lovely to see a pub that will allow dogs to wander around too.

Will visit this bar everytime I'm in Edinburgh... Must remember to try the food next time.

6 Apr 2009 19:09

Planet Out, Edinburgh

Bit disappointing but I've been in worse gay venues over the years. Could do with a better selection of less gay pop music and a clean, especially in the loos but the Guinness was fairly good and the staff were lovely.

Somewhere to bob in for the occasional pint but not to spend the entire night, it has got a pool table though.

6 Apr 2009 19:06

The Phoenix Bar, Edinburgh

Popped in to watch the second half the the Scotland v Netherlands match, was chocker and a really good atmosphere, waited a while to be served but only due to amount of people there. Staff were great and Guinness was better!

Worth a visit, especially when Scotland are playing!

6 Apr 2009 19:03

The Cameo Cinema Bar, Edinburgh

A lovely space to sit and enjoy a beer or a coffee pre or post film or just to sit and read the papers on a lazy day. Always a welcome and a friendly smile from the staff.

6 Apr 2009 18:55

Bennets Bar, Edinburgh

What a gem of a find. Slightly hidden away from it all and not as in your face as the Canny Man or Morningside Glory BUT a really friendly, locals pub that welcomes you in and offers friendly service and a good pint to top it off.

It's definately a blast from the past but that in my mind is one of the charms of it, there should be more pubs like this!

6 Apr 2009 18:53

The Plough, Dulwich

Popped in on Sunday night, live Jazz - which was ok but we sat outside. The outside area is lovely. The undercover seating areas with the sofas and large heaters were quite impressive.

I was drinking the Guinness which was fairly awfully poured and the pub did lack atmosphere, not sure that I'd go out of my way to return.

16 Mar 2009 19:56

The Plough, Coldharbour

What a wonderful pub! I was there with a few folk on Sunday, weather was beutiful, so we sat in the relaxing beer garden for a while. I enjoyed one of the best pints of Guinness I have had outside of Ireland (perhaps the Irish Landlady had something to do with that!).

Friends were dring some of the ales and had nothing but praise for them too.

The personal attention and lovely chat that we had with the Landlord's son, Ed, made the day for me.

They had the rugby on which kept me happy but it was tucked away in the corner of te back bar and didn't disturb anyone's afternoon.

I love this place and will definately go back in the Summer and try the restaurant and the B&B!

16 Mar 2009 19:49

The Prince Alfred, Upper Hale

Been taken over recently and the decor and locals are far more favourable! Eaten in the restaurant a few times and the food, whether quiet or busy is superb.

Becks and Stella on draught and an incredibly friendly landlord, good family run bar/ restaurant.

Highly recommend for a few quiet beers or a good meal or bar food, I'll be back again and again...

12 Mar 2009 01:58

The Funky End, Aldershot

Great pub and just across from the station. Good beers and lovely atmosphere. Added bonus is the quiz machine and a fairly decent beer garden.

Friendly bar staff, I would definitely go there again, one of the better bars in Aldershot!

12 Mar 2009 01:54

The Slug and Lettuce, Farnham

We were there for a Sunday lunch and although we were all a tad hungover and drinking fizzypop, it was a lovely bar.

The food and service were exceptionally good and there were quite a few groups in there that looked liked they were enjoying both the beer AND food.

I'd highly recommend this Slug and Lettuce, I normally don't for chain bars but this one I'd go to again and more than likely enjoy a beer or two too!

Give it a go...

12 Mar 2009 01:47

The Old Courthouse, Cove

Popped in for a quick beer on a weekday night, decent lager and wine and friendly enough bar staff, although the locals did seem to check us out as we both walked in and left. Wouldn't stop me from going back again though.

7 Feb 2009 16:43

The Royal Arms, Heath End

A great pub with a really friendly landlord/ landlady and always a warm welcome. Not pretentious but just a lovely local pub with ample outside space for the warmer weather.

Good beers and good selection of wine. The food, both at lunchtimes and in the evening, is superb and good value.

Really like a pub with an open fire and this one has a fire in both bars. Pool table is always a goer for me too.

Recommend for either a quick beer on the way on to somewhere else or for the night.

7 Feb 2009 16:41

The Lavender, Vauxhall

Popped in a couple of months ago to meet a mate after work during the week for a few cheeky beers, ended up staying there til closing. Lovely pub, great beer and the food looked really good too.

Small beer garden with about 3 bench tables out the back, small but secluded and rather pleasant. Will definitely be going back next time I'm in the area.

18 Dec 2008 23:53

The Lobster Pot, Farnham

Been in The Lobster Pot a few times both to eat and just for a beer. The food has always been excellentnd a great selection, can't fault it, best to book though as is very popular. The service is superb, always friendly and very efficient.

There's a really good beer garden too for the days that the sun does show it's face.

Good selection of beers and wines and reasonably priced. All in all a very good find and well worth a visit.

18 Dec 2008 23:38

The Alma, Heath End

Popped in for a couple on Saturday lunchtime, good pint, friendly locals and bar staff. Although it was raining, the beer garden looked lovely, will be back to try it on a better day.

The pub definately has a friendly feel about it, it's decor is fresh and well looked after. Didn't get the chance to try the food, maybe next time.

3 Nov 2008 21:25

The Swan and Three Cygnets, Durham

I bobbed in for a quick fizzypop after a lovely Sunday in Durham. The pub is just average. The smell of disinfectant as soon as we walked was a bit overpowering but far better than the mix of damp and gents toilet smells that hit you as soon as you got to the top of the steps to go to the loos!

Service was ok, location was lovely but the pub needs a good wash!

20 Oct 2008 19:17

Dun Cow Inn, Sedgefield

Was at the Dun Cow Inn on Friday night. The staff were friendly, the lager was cold and a good sup and the atmosphere was lovely. Didn't get the chance to eat there but the menu looked excellent and the food looked wonderful. It was busy but there wasn't a long wait to be served.

There is a bit of a reburb going on apparently but I saw no evidence of any disruption.

All in all, I can't fault this pub at all, a great discovery and just a shame that it about 280 miles away!

20 Oct 2008 18:57

The Marlborough Head, Farnham

I was here on Staurday night to watch the dismal Andorra v England footy match. The pub was rammed but we managed to get there in time to get a good quiet spot, with a seat, in front of one of the many TVs. The round was cheap and there were a couple of decent quiz machines.

There's a large covered smoking area out the back and a lovely, good sized garden for when we get a bit of sunshine!

I think I'd go back again to have a beer in the garden, or to watch a match again, wouldn't want it as my local though.

8 Sep 2008 21:35

The City Cafe, Edinburgh

I visited here for the first time this weekend and ended up going back the following night. The bar staff was friendly, the music was good and the Guinness was lovely, one of the best pints I had all weekend.

No issues with other patrons, no one looked particularly posey, just out to have a good night with friends and a few pints.

Would definately go back next time I'm in Edinburgh.

22 Jul 2008 21:40

The Lyver, Dumfries

Have to agree that the toilets re the worst I've been to but apart from that it's a lovely friendly wee pub. The beer is ok and reasonably priced. It is better since the smoking ban as used to be very smokey.

7 Apr 2008 02:07

The Oakfield, Croydon

I heard that The Oakfiels had closed down which is a real shame, it was a friendly and fairly busy gay bar after its recent refurb. I'd been there a few times and enjoyed a good night on each occasion.

Drove past last week and one of the windows was smashed and all the blinds were shut.

7 Apr 2008 02:04

The Wynford Arms, Reading

Popped in briefly for a couple of pints on Saturday night. It's an ok pub, was busy, had a bit of a wait to be served but the staff were friendly enough. Managed to get a seat but between the music and the grag queen, we couldn't hear a word. The lager was a little ropey, tasted like it was the end of the barrel or the pumps needed cleaning.

There is a tiny smoking area outside which was rammed, apparently there is a roof terrace but that was closed for some reason. The toilets were a mess, no loo roll, in need to a good clean and the disabled loo had no toilet seat.

All in all, your average gay bar.

7 Apr 2008 01:57

The Minories, Tower Hill

Was there on Saturday night. Hadn't been there for a good 4 years and wasn't too keen on going back when friends mentioned it but was pleasantly suprised with a really good mix of people, friendly staff and atmosphere, fairly ok ish music and quick service at the bar.

Good selection of drinks both soft and alcoholic and plenty of seats to have a chat in the front bar if you didn't fancy the noisier back bar.

Even the lollipop lady in the loo was lovely! Will definately go back.

31 Mar 2008 17:31

The Duke of Argyll, Soho

A Samuel Smiths pub, average bar, friendly enough staff but does get a bit busy at te bar after work, so could do with a few more staff.

Good beer though!

31 Mar 2008 17:24

Crown, Shirley

Not a bad pub, ok for the occasional pint and is alright for a quick cheap bite to eat. Not sure I'd want to make it a regular haunt.

Although the staff are friendly enough, they always apper to be rather busy and I've always had to wit for a while to be served.

Decor is a bit bland and boring and I'm not sure about the comfiness of the tables.

4 Mar 2008 18:40

The Firebird, Glasgow

Lovely pub, friendly staff and good selection of beers and spirits, as an added bonus the toilets were clean too.

Shame there isn't a covered area for the smokers amongst us as it was tipping it down the night (I was there. Recommend this pub, next time I might try the food too.

3 Mar 2008 18:26

Kazbar, Clapham

Bit overated and overpriced, ok for a quick beer but gets too hot and too busy to comfortably stay there all evening.

23 Feb 2008 14:04

The Toucan, Soho

Lovely pub, an oasis in the middle of busy Soho. Good atmosphere and lovely pint of Guinness. Downstairs is a small, broken in amd comfy. Upstairs is as small but worth it for the best Guinness in London.

23 Feb 2008 13:55

The Crown and Trumpet Inn, Broadway

We were in Broadway for a week and spent 3 evenings in this warm and friendly local. The food on Sunday luchtime was superb, the beers and real ales were served to perfection and the staff were friendly and always very attentive. I really liked the atmosphere and even the locals were friendly and chatty.

Lovely beer garden for when it's a bit warmer and there was even a heater in the outside smoking area. I would highly recommend this pub and will definately return when next in the area, might even try and book the accommodation there too.

2 Feb 2008 23:21

The Granby, Reading

I used to go to the Granby about 5 years ago and always enjoyed my visits, good atmosphere, good music and decent beer.

Have been back twice recently and thought I'd walked into an episode of the L Word - lots of younger folk, quite a bit of attitude and too much hair product! Has a slightly different vibe but still managed to have a decent night.

6 Jan 2008 22:48

The Malthouse, Reading

Was in the Malthouse last night for the first time. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The beer was a resonable price and they had fairly good selection of drinks.

The decor was ok, I liked the fact that it was a gay pub without attitude and had a nice mixed crowd. The quiz machine is good too, if not a tad addictive!

I'll definately go back and hope that it keeps going.

6 Jan 2008 22:43

The Chandos, Trafalgar Square

Great beers, all their own which is a masisve bonus and a lovely change from the norm. Reasonably priced and great service. Loads of space and friendly atmospher, this is a pub that should definately be visited.

23 Dec 2007 20:26

The Marquis of Granby, Cambridge Circus

Great place to start the night off and do a spot of people watching, also a good gaff for a couple of cheeky after work shandies.

Staff are friendly, te beer is always good but only one toilet for the ladies, do tend to spend a bit of time in the evening queuing for the lav!

23 Dec 2007 20:23

First Out Cafe Bar, Soho

Was here at the weekend, didn't eat but went downstairs for a couple of beers. It's improved since I was there last. Fairly chilled atmosphere and do like a good bottle of Budva.

Only fault would be the 1 toilet, but would definately recommend paying this one a visit.

23 Dec 2007 20:13

The Clockwork Beer Co., Glasgow

Not great pub itself but the beer that they brew is gorgeous. Keep the beer and change the pub!

9 Nov 2007 00:09

Stravaigin, Glasgow

Superb food and lovely location but the waitress was a bit like a school mistress. She was a tad more chilled by the end of the sitting and I think I even saw a smile at one point. The service from the bar was a bit slow.

9 Nov 2007 00:07

Brel, Glasgow

Food looked exceptional, beer was superb and the venue itself was chilled and very friendly. Highly recommended!

9 Nov 2007 00:03

Strata, Glasgow

Service at lunch menu time was slow, food wasn't great and some of it was served cold and had to be sent back, drink order was served wrong at times aswell.

Staff weren't that friendly and I would have expected a bit more for the price of the tab we ran up as quite a large group who were eating as well as drinking.

Not sure I'd chose to go there again.

8 Nov 2007 23:59

The Polo Lounge, Glasgow

Busy bar/ club. Downstairs is a bit of a buzy maze. Gets really busy, beer is over priced and not that great a drink, staff can be rude at times. Now with the smoking ban it's a bit of a struggle getting back in after a ciggie break!

Music downstairs is very cheesy, but typical for gay club of it's sort.

Saying that, I've had a couple of great nights there when visiting the city.

8 Nov 2007 23:56

The Street, Edinburgh

bit too 'trendy' for me, was a bit drafty by the closed glass sliding doors at the front of the bar. Staff weren't that chatty but was a reasonable venue for the one pint, wouldn't want to stay there for longer than that!

8 Nov 2007 23:48

Conan Doyle, Edinburgh

Lovely pub, really friendly bar staff and a good pint, what more could you ask for? the loo was clean too.

8 Nov 2007 23:46

The Basement Bar, Edinburgh

Cool bar, relly chilled and a good pint of lager with good friendly service. The little outside heated smoking area is handy too.

Food is good and reasonably priced.

8 Nov 2007 23:45

Funky Munky, Camberwell

Good after work, drinking sesh pub. Good music and the friendliest staff and punters in Camberwell.

Only downer is the queue for the bar during happy hour, but think that has a lot to do with the 2 for 1 cocktails, which is fine but just a bit of a downer when you just want a pint...

30 Aug 2007 23:00

Monaghan's Bar, Walworth

Carpet gaff has gone now too and the building is empty, anyone know what's going in there next?

1 Jul 2007 21:55

The Grey Derby, Kennington

Definately not closed, I was in there last week for a cheeky couple before the cricket at The Oval.

Nothing ever changes in The Greyhound. Not over friendly but not unfriendly either. Beer ok.

1 Jul 2007 21:53

The Duke of Wellington, Soho

Was there yesterday, Thursday night. Too busy, music too loud and struggle to get to the bar. Tables, once we got near one, were dirty, ashtrays full and sticky floor. Toilets are pretty nasty too.

I used to love this pub and have fond memories of great nights out, but it has defo gone down hill over the last few years. I keep going back for the odd pint to see if it has improved again but alas...

The beer is pretty poor too - shame

23 Jun 2007 01:29

Halfway II Heaven, Charing Cross

Really like this pub. It's reasonably priced, good beer and quite friendly. Downstairs can get a bit too smokey, but not for long hey!

The staff are friendly and always serve you quickly.

If you're lucky and can get one of the 2 outside tables, it's a great place to watch the world go by.

Highly recommended

16 Jun 2007 19:11

The Roebuck, Kennington

Really friendly pub, set back from the busy Oval area. Lovely little beer garden which on a sunny day is a wonderful little oasis.

The staff are always really friendly and chilled. Superb quiz machine too.

I've been there on quite a few occasions and always had a really enjoyable evening, have even attempted a very drunken karaoke -I apologise to anyone who had to witness that!

I'll be going back again.

16 Jun 2007 19:04

The Walrus Bar and Hostel, Waterloo

Popped in for a couple of cheeky pints before moving on. Got a seat, staff were really friendly and overall it had a good atmosphere.

Toilet was clean but only one ladies loo, which was quite busy. There were tables to sit outside but were full and imagine it could get noisy but still nice to sit out in the fresh air.

I really enjoyed my couple of pints and would recommend! Really handy for the train station to get home too

16 Jun 2007 18:47

The Crown and Sceptre, South Croydon

I've popped oin twice in the last month for a few pints midweek. The first time, we sat in the area to the right of the bar as you walk in and found it really smokey as the pub was quite busy but there was no where else to sit. Staff were busy but always remembered our round, they weren't that chatty but they were really busy.

Second visit, we sat at the front at first and then at the tables at the side of the bar, it wasn't that smokey, the staff were less busy and were really friendly, we were made to feel welcome.

Nice seating area at the front on the pavementside patio and also seating at the rear.

I got a really good feeling from this pub, the nice cold lager helped! but I will definately be back.

23 May 2007 12:32

The Woodman, South Croydon

From the outside, a real cosy, country, locals pub amongst the terraces on a busyish cut through.

I've had mixed feelings about The Woodman, I spent a very enjoyable Christmas Eve there with friends many moons ago and had fond memories of it. I recently moved back to the area and have popped in there on 3 occasions. I agree with previous comments about uncomfortable seats and the music can be loud depending on where you are sitting. Not great for chatting and not really that comfortable to spend the whole night in.

I have never had a problem with the bar staff, they have always been courteous enough, although not that chatty but mates have said that they've found them to be rude on occasions.

Last time I was in, I found it to be terribly smokey, so looking forward to my next visit, which will be post smoking ban.

23 May 2007 12:24

The Earl of Eldon, South Croydon

Have been in to the Earl before a few years back and always found it to be friendly enough, went back again a couple of weeks ago for a pint on a Saturday night and wasn't disappointed, it was busy but the bar staff were really friendly and remembered the round which is always a good sign. Not sure I'd go there on a regular basis but definately wouldn't avoid it. Previous posters are right about there being a good selection of pubs locally!

23 May 2007 12:14

Ganleys, Morden

Was in here one Friday night when there was a decent band on. Good atmosphere and friendly staff, the beers were ok. It did get a bit smokey after a while but there is a sweet little beer garden out the back that you can get some fresh air in and cool off. Good and handy for the tube and night buses. Probably the most decent pub in either Morden or Worcester Park. It's either here for a quite localish beer or a slightly longer trek in to Colliers Wood.

4 Nov 2006 22:13

Jack George Phillips, Godalming

Been in here for their bargain breakfast on a Sunday morning after the night before. Last time we were there we were trying to figure out what it reminded us of and we came up with two suggestions, 1. a cross channel ferry and 2. airport departure lounge. No atmosphere but very edible food, wouldn't necessarily go there for a pint though.

22 Aug 2006 20:21

All Bar One, Portsmouth

Went in here on a Sunday for a late lunch after a days shopping at the Wharf, lunch was ok, average and the service was nothing special. The floor needed a good wash after the spillages of the night before and so did the table as it was rather sticky.

22 Aug 2006 20:13

The Shirley Inn, Shirley

Could do with a lick of paint but is friendly enough. The toilets are a bit dodgy though, was a warm day when I was there and there was a bit of a pong coming out of the gents.

11 Jun 2006 18:33

The Gold Coast Bar and Restaurant, South Norwood

This pub is amazing! Definatey a 10 out of 10! The landlord and landlady are the friendliest you'll find anywhere so I am slightly disappointed by one of the previous comments that said different. They do not tolerate drunken, anti social or discriminatory behaviour. It is a great pub to go and socialise no matter where you are from, has excellent food and good selection of drinks.
The staff in general are always friendly and all have excellent customer skills.
You can watch the footy here too as they have a big pull down screen in the bar - would be a good spot to watch the World Cup!
The beer garden is superb and they also have a BBQ area and although I haven't been to one, I have spoken to folks that have and they are recommended a visit.

The key to this pub/ restaurant is that they treat each and every customer with respect, but in return, they ask that the customers respect each other and the staff.

11 Jun 2006 18:22

The Retro Bar, Strand

I like the pub, but only just after it opens when you can get a seat and it's not overly smokey. The beer is good and the staff are friendly and the place is clean, sorry to moan but it could do with another ladies loo! OK for the odd pint efore going on somewhere - saying that, I've had a few good evenings in there!

6 Jun 2006 20:44

The Regent, Balham

Was here on a Saturday evening about a month ago. There was live music, 2 blokes with guitars that were entertaining enough. The beer wasok but nearly choked when I heard the price of the round, think it was about 3.30 per pint.

Bar staff are friendly enough, nice big pub, was quite busy and therefore nowhere to sit.

There were a few 'look at me' Clapham clones that had got off the tube at the wrong stop. There was no need for the sunglasses in the pub at half nine at night!

4 Jun 2006 21:24

The Bedford, Balham

The main bar is full of 20's and 30's trendies trying to be cool but the smaller bar round the side is far more 'real'. Friendlier and one for the locals. Not as smokey or noisy and no problem getting served unlike the bigger bar. Not a bad pub, not a favourite though.

Handy for the station.

4 Jun 2006 21:15

The Kings Arms Royal Hotel, Godalming

I agree with the previous comments, went there once for a beer and to watch some footy, this was about 6 months ago, would not set foot in the place again. Tables filthy, lager warm and tasted bad. Barman grunted but no other conversation and the other drinkers were more than a bit scary looking. I wouldn't want to go in there on my own. The football match obviously wasn't one that the staff wanted to watch, so they muted it and stuck some music on instead, even though the football was advertised as being on.

It's such a shame as this is a lovely building and could be such a nice place if a bit of money was spent on a refurb!

I'm also disappointed about the comments about 'raving homos' made by the first post, anon. All I can say is better a homo than a chav, which I'd say is what you are!

4 Jun 2006 21:01

The Slug and Lettuce, Godalming

Can be quite pretentious, definately wouldn't go there in the evening on a weekend, but have been in for food during the week and breakfast. As said before, the food is good but the service is slow, they never appear to have enough staff on.

4 Jun 2006 19:39

The Rose and Crown, Godalming

I love this little pub and wish it were my local. It is small but has an amazing patio area and good big garden. Inside there are the comfy sofa area going on and the staff have always been friendly and chatty.

4 Jun 2006 19:32

The Inn On The Lake, Godalming

Been in a few times, not eaten there yet, but am planing to as food reads well on the menu. Not the cheapest of venues but very pleasant surroundings, so worth paying the extra little bit more than the Weatherspoons. Really chilled and the decor is superb! I've always thought that the staff were friendly enough, never had a problem.

4 Jun 2006 19:26

The Ball and Wicket, Heath End

Popped in for a few pints on Friday night, first time in the place, staff were friendly and found the place welcoming. The setting is really nice, opposite the green, but would be better with a nice big beer garden overlooking the green. Would recommend this one.

4 Jun 2006 19:03

The Treehouse, Croydon

Absolutely wonderful restaurant bar, very friendly and attentive staff and superb food. I cannot recommend this venue enough. I've been upstairs a few times and found it to be pretty chilled. I was there a few times in the late 80's/ early 90's and it couldn't be more different if it tried - thankfully! The furniture is pretty cool too and I've had a few good afternoons relaxing with a cold beer or decent glass of wine in the beer garden...

30 May 2006 20:36

The Goose and Carrot, Croydon

Shame it's gone, used to be the place to go. It had gone down hill over the past few years though!

The Lord Nelson, Cheam

New to the area and popped there with a few friends for a beer on a Friday evening. Friendly enough, sat outside but just a shame there isn't a decent beer garden, only the seats out the front and the small shaded patio area. All in all a fair pub, would have liked to have seen the 'old' Nelson.

The Bird in Hand, Croydon

I agree with the previous comment about the smokey atmosphere. Staff weren't that friendly and the loo's were in need of a good clean and some soap. Water was also scalding in the loo upstairs!
