The Three Magpies Hotel, Brinsworth

Been in here a few times as our lass lives not far away. Hated it the 1st time, but it's starting to grow on me. Still a fair share of tossers thinking they're summat, but cheap beer.

The Navigation, Broadheath

Used to scare the life out of me just walking passed some weekends. Took up the courage to in once, though and wasn't quite as bad as I feared.

The Railway Inn, Altrincham

Another Alty pub where it's a more enjoyable visit if you get part of the clique. Mind, I've been told that
a lot of the old cokehead regulars have gone now. Visited last year and was a nice, relaxed place.

The Old Packet House, Altrincham

Very cliquey place, but once your face fits it's Ok.
Good atmosphere in winter, though, due to it being quite cosy.

The George and Dragon, Altrincham

If nothing else, the George do the best Starter Combo in the restaurant I've had.

The Yew Tree Inn, Malin Bridge

I've met that Welsh bloke, too. Funny lad. Had a couple of nice bites to eat in here as well as a few nice evenings on the lash.

The Turf Tavern, Handsworth

Was my local when I lived up at Handsworth. Good jukebox and a decent pint. Can get a bit intimidating at weekends. Easy to get into a scrap there. If you wanted, of course. Or, sometimes, even if you didn't. Tasty birds behind the bar, mind.

The Cross Keys, Handsworth

Was in here Sunday. Lots of beer bellies, tattoos, odd, shady looking folk flitting between here and the boozer down the road. That said, still quite a nice visit.

Crosspool Tavern, Cross Pool

Not somewhere you'd want to go for a sesh, maybe, but good food.

The White Rose, Sheffield

Actually, quite a decent atmosphere here, friendly enough, anyway. Decent food and beer.

Swim Inn, Sheffield

The only reason to darken it's door was for the pool table. Now that's gone, it's only any use to slap a few chavs about. Depressing place. Even the fish look suicidal.

Reflex 80's Bar, Sheffield

Oh, dear. My inexperienced mate held a birthday bash here and ended up pulling a girl who turned out to be 14. Enough said. Lots of chavs and scallies and grannies on the pull. Reminds me of Roxy's.

Penny Black, Sheffield

Oh, dear. Ventured in here recently and was happy to leave. Drunks, weird smells and girls in shellsuits snogging blokes old enough to be your grandad. Have been in a couple of times before, but was Ok on those occasions.

The Pump Tavern, Sheffield

Been going in here regularly for 10 years now. Good bar staff, the quiz is fun, too. Beer choice is a bit average, but better than it used to be. A bugger they are knocking it down, though.

The Frog and Parrot, Sheffield

Let's face it. A local legend.

31 Jul 2006 18:37

The Big Tree, Sheffield

Been a couple of times. Not nice. Shaven headed, shirtless tattooed. And that's the birds. Maybe it's like that at weekends.

31 Jul 2006 18:36

The Ha Ha Bar, Sheffield

Good place, if a tad pricey and cramped. Food's a bit tasty, though.

31 Jul 2006 18:33

Old Monk, Sheffield

It's OK. Nothing special, though roomy and great for watching the football.

31 Jul 2006 18:32

The Old Queens Head, Sheffield

A bit of a godsend if you are travelling. Ideal meeting place. Decent beer, good food.

Bia Hoi, Sheffield

Have been a few times, only had 1 bad experience. Took an age to get served, even though it was relatively quiet. In the end we decided to go elsewhere, but otherwise a decent place with a great range of beer.

The bar staff fancy themselves a bit too much, mind.
