The Southampton Arms, Gospel Oak

Popped in there last night prior to Alabama 3 gig at the forum. What a surprise, never expected to see such a place in London. Lovely old fashioned bar, good mix of people and an absolutely wonderful selection of cider from some of the smaller producers. Will return with friends ASAP.

The Cider Bar, Newton Abbot

Yes, I live in Southend upon Sea and everytime I go to the West Country, make a point of breaking the train journey in Newton Abbot to visit this establishment, truly one of the great places. Off to Dartmouth for music festival this Friday so looking forward to my stopover and several pints of Cheddar Valley. Funnily enough you can get Cheddar Valley in The Railway in Southend!

The Stickle Barn Tavern, Great Langdale

Guess what, I did do the lottery and got 5 numbers up. Must get Maureen to throw my rucksack off Harrison again, and the pub may even sort the cider out.

The Stickle Barn Tavern, Great Langdale

Yipee someone handed my rucksack in and unbelievably it's still intact complete with contents, better go and do the lottery!

Tweedies Bar at Dale Lodge Hotel, Grasmere

Pleasant bar tucked away from main tourist track on road up to Red Bank. Excellent range of beers together with decent cider and perry. Live music when I was in there the other Saturday Night. Resaurant next door.

The Vine, Pamphill

Yes, been meaning to come here for ages and Nigel brought me in his camper van. Superb establishment and complete timewarp, and please may it stay that way. Decent pint of cider as well, Heaven!

The Square and Compass, Worth Matravers

Without a shadow of doubt, the very best pub in the country for all the miscellaneous reasons given before. The only reason I don't give it a rating of 10 is in the hope that I might even find something better in the future, but I doubt it.

The Railway Hotel, Southend on Sea

Yes this pub has been extensively 'refurbished' to return it to its old victorian splendour. Best pub in Southend by a country mile. Dave has introduced all types of various music and activities, and the pub has a very mixed clientele. Also, a decent range of ale, and wait for it, Cheddar Valley Cider plus Westons Perry. This has become my local and much awaited since the closure of The Cork and Cheese.

The Stickle Barn Tavern, Great Langdale

Some of the live entertainment is cracking especially John Crampton but wish the pub would do a decent real cider. Location alone however is worth the visit. Hope someone finds my rucksack which 'fell' from the top of Harrison Stickle on Easter Sunday! That's what happens when you take mad Maureen out with you.

The New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, Langdale

This pub is The Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel at the end of the valley, not The New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel which is about a mile and a half back towards Elterwater. This is by far the best walkers pub, with great atmosphere and a smashing pint of Old Rosie. Hope someone finds my rucksack which 'fell' off the top of Harrison Stickle on Easter Sunday!
