The Arab Boy, Putney

8.00 for a small glass of Rioja. That was enough to piut me off. Much better pubs in the area.

The Talbot, Belgravia

An ok pub, but it suffers from being surrounded by some truly great pubs in the area. Needs to make a bigger efforts if its going to compete.

The Horse and Groom, Belgravia

Love the attention from the staff and well kept beer, but if there's one thing to be said about the place then it's the fantastic sandwiches. Great for a quiet, relaxing afternoon if you've got some time to kill.

The Paternoster, City Of London

Must confirm that the beers are well kept in here. Had a nice pint there last week. Pub's decor is a bit weird though as its trying to be classic inside, but in view of the newness of the Paternoster Square area it probably would have been better woth a modern interior.

The Ivy House, Holborn, London

For some reason I seem to gravitate to this one when I meet ex-colleagues, but it's really nothing special. Crap beer selection and a thai menu that I never see anyone eatig from. However, it does have a pool table, which is pretty rare for the area.

The Punch Tavern, Fleet Street

A curious place that doesn't know whether it wants to be a psuedo-trendy eatery or a pub. Still, it's easy access and it's always entertaining to watch the overly camp manager mincing around to keep the trops happy.

Yates's, Wimbledon

Now this was one horrid place. A hang out for the local chavs from Croydon. Awful, awful, awful and glad it shut...

The Coat and Badge, Putney

Great pub, cosy feel, good food, almost an perfect package......except poor staff and absurdly expensive beer, which ruins it a bit.

Ye Old Mitre, Holborn

What a great little pub this is. Exceptionally kept beer. Wonderful service from the little family like team they have. Hidden away from street making it a perfectly kept escaoe and without the pretentious food menu that so many other pubs offer and screw up.

The Blackfriar, Blackfriars

An amazing interior and well kept beer. Food is average and the pub can get a bit busy at times after working hours, but when you go inside it you know its one of those pubs that you had to visit at some point in your life.

The Old Bell, Fleet Street

Good selection of beers, if a little scruffy. I'm fussy over good bar service and the barmaids here were attentive despite the busy lunch hour I spent in there, albeit with somewhat dull personalities. Nothing to really make the pub stand out, except perhaps the uneven floor. If you like Nicholsons pubs its more worth hitting the Blackfriar a short walk away.

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, Fleet Street

The closest pub to my office and would be a regular of mine if it weren't for the crap beer (sorry, just not a Sam Smiths fan). Stunning historical interior and worth a visit notwithstanding the beer selection. Sometimes a bit too tourist heavy though...

Coach and Horses, Fleet Street

Pretty dissapointing pub. Only one if the aforementioned visually impressive ladies on show to boot. Still, she was certainly wise to the ways of good jugs....

The Famous 3 Kings (F3K), West Kensington

Rubbish beer selection and huge, average modernised interior so what makes me go back to this pub? Simple, if you're a footy fan then this is the place to watch your game. Great atmosphere during the matches and whatever game you're after you can bet they're showing it in at least one of their bars. Not to be touched though if you don't sports or exited sports fans.

The Tipperary, Fleet Street

Nice long bar that reminds me of the Irish boozers in New York. Great landlord and landlady of the old school kind - they remember your name and your tipple and make you feel at home. Average selection of beer and the usual mass-produced guinness (that the landlord himself says isn't anything close to the proper stuff - although having had the stuff in Irish country villages I have to say that I can't really tell the difference) but I guess nowhere's perfect.

The Old Bank of England, Fleet Street

Stunning interior, with a little corner my friends and I always like to hide in with our pints. Unfortunately though in recent years I've always found it a bit dirty, which is ashame as when I first drank in the pub 11 years ago it used to be spotless.

Warning though if you are gonna use the gents loo, if a double decker bus goes by and you're at one of the urinals the people on the top deck can see right through the window at what you're doing!
