The Kings Fairway, Ashford

During the lull between Christmas and New Year, made the mistake of visiting this establishment in the early evening. It claims to be a CAMRA affiliated pub, which I can't actually believe as the service is so absolutely attratrocious.

After a 40 minute wait for food, served at a tepid temperature, it was bland, dull and uninspiring.

avoid this expensive sh*t hole at all costs.

The Plucknett, Yeovil

New Landlord. Mr Roy Hancock. Spot on beer, kept and served well and also a real chef. Excellent food in wonderful ambiance.

You would think that at a tenner a go for a pint and a glass of wine, the management on a hot Sunday Bank Holiday weekend would engage the spare brain cell and make sure there are enough staff on... fifteen minute to wait for drinks, served in a warm glass. All overlooked and encouraged by a bar manager, casually looking on as the bar stacked up in filth. Hardly surprising really, the guy looked short of toilet trained to be honest....

Kings Head, Ashford

Wandered in on a Sunday lunchtime, pub itself seemed quiet, but it was a glorious day and most people were in the beer garden. The restaurant was full to bursting point. Two brief pints of Fosters, tucked away after prompt and friendy service. This pub has really turned the corner, by far and a way the best that Ashford has to offer

The Red Lion, Egham

Had the dis-pleasure of watching the landlord of this establish start a brawl last week. Apparently, someone called his landlady "treacle" and then proceded to try and instigate a fight with him....... Very odd place, very odd people managing it and pretty grubby standards of service and cleanliness.

Avoid at all costs.

Alright if you are early for a train or late for one and have time to kill, if neither then sterr well clear of the rude and abnoxious bar staff when you can find them. Please and Thank you does not exist here.

New landlord.

Served within thirty seconds of arriving at the bar.

Decent pint.

This sad excuse for a pub has gone down the drain !

New landlord apparently. It's marketed as a "Hungry Horse" after waiting for twenty minutes to be served on a not too busy Sunday afternoon I'm thinking it should be called the "Thirsty Horse". Less than interested bar staff only interested in doing as little as possible and serving their friends at one corner of the bar, which is fine, just don't expect other less than regulars in there again. I expect to see this hole boarded up in February, because that's exactly where it's heading......

Swan, Iver

Gone downhill.

Best pub in Covent Garden area - by some considerable margin.

Royston Vasey or what ?

Pig ignorant landlady.

The Pelican, Addlestone

Landed here yesterday with my orange juice drinking friends, lovely orange juice and lemonade on offer. Full of people talking about Spanish removal and selling second hand cars on mobile phones.

A big shout to my homie John from AP Shipping , thank you !!!

The Belvedere Arms, Sunninghill

Strange sort of place, full of sales people from Heathrow Airport who ought to be at work. Average, over-priced pint.

Royal Hart, Ashford

Just how difficult is it to get a decent landlord ?

Throw out the under 16's and the smack heads and job done !

The Old Red Lion, Staines

At 3.30 for a bog standard pint of Fosters you'd expect at least a smile from the barmaid. All I got was a snarl and grunt....

The Kings Fairway, Ashford

Called in on Tuesday 28th in the late afternoon, made the fatal mistake of ordering a pint of Fosters instead of the five or six guest beers. Probably the worst pint of Fosters ever, and believe me, I've drunk a few. After being ignored by the bar staff in the quest to query why it was such a bad pint I opted for a pint of "Otter" which was delicious. It turns out that the reason for the poor service, is there is a relief manager here now. So , for the forseeable future, it's back to the Ash Tree.........

Swanlord, sorry my mistake. Excellent pint of Fosters yesterday lunchtime though !

Swan, Iver

Decent enough boozer, but 3.30 a pint ?

Probably priced to keep out the traunch of Chavs and Pikey's that prevail in Iver, but also in grave danger of sending the locals back to Langley......

The Kings Fairway, Ashford

Best pub in Ashford. Beer well kept, prompt service from friendly staff. Kings Head could learn a lot about it, especially the cleanliness.

18 Apr 2008 11:19

North Star, Staines

Simply put, this pub has gone down the drain.... You're better off in the Old Red Lion. Beer crap, staff crap.

What a difference a new landlord makes !

Prince Of Wales, Covent Garden

Dodging showers, dropped in on a Saturday afternoon, excellent pint of Bombardier, reasonable tasy and quickly available bar snacks.

30 Jul 2007 13:40

The Freemasons Arms, Covent Garden

Nipped in between torential downpours during Saturdy lunchtime. Very good pint of Spitfire. Clen and tidy bar, though not very busy.

30 Jul 2007 13:38

Ash Tree, Ashford

Best pub in Ashford, wide range of very well kept beers. Locals very friendly, bar staff very competent. Gets a little packed and smokey when there's a big football game on, but what pub doesn't ?

28 Nov 2006 18:02

The Sheldon, Sheldon

Possibly the worst pub in South Birmingham. Awful beer and if you're not lucky the chance of having a bottle of alcopop bounced off your head for not being a local. Truly horrible.

28 Nov 2006 17:55

The Harvester, Solihull

Exceptionally well kept beers with excellent staff !
