The Red Lion, Westminster

Nice pub, but the price of a pint of real ale is 3. 50. find another pub, ther are plenty more in the area, and cheaper too.

The Watering Hole, Perranporth

The bar/pub is actually on the beach, not sure what happens at a very high tide, probably get complaints of watered down beer! The front part is open early for food/tea/coffee and the rear part is the bar area. Started a no smoking ban in May. Sells real ale. Has an area for kids to play. There are tables on the beach, so you may get real sand in your sandwiches. Great view of the sunset."

The Tywarnhayle, Perranporth

Large popular pub, especially at lunch time. Sells real ale. Very friendly staff. Serves lunch & evening meals. Has a kids area. One woman, at the next table, her voice sounded like Vera Duckworth from Coronation Street. That was back in June.

Seiners, Perranporth

Hotel by the beach. Outside seating area overlooking the beach. Sells real ale. Had a sort of folk/Irish band on, though the music ended early as the violin needed repair and no one had a screwdriver small enough. Very comfortable. Bit of renovation going on in the hotel part. That was back in June, should be finished now.

The Chy Bar and Kitchen, Newquay

Seems to be called just The Chy. No real ale. Modern interior, metal bar. Pregnant barmaid was discussing cravings with a pregnant customer and the tall barmen ignores you if a young woman comes to the bar, even if you were there first. Not worth the trouble.

The Bowgie Inn, Crantock Newquay

Very nice pub, great views of the bay below. Friendly staff, they even delayed the closing of the kitchen at lunch time, for some late arrivals.

The Florence Nightingale, Waterloo

Been demolished completely.

The Bar at tcr, Tottenham Court Road

Been told by the bar staff, 27/03/2007, that they will not be selling real ale anymore. They didn't have any Guinness on either. Don't bother to visit, unless you are desperate for a drink.

The Pentagon, Clapham

Had a refit and a name change, going to call itself 62nd&(something). It isn't really something, it's just that I forgot what the last part is. sorry.

The Abbey, Westminster

A downstairs bar, the entrance is easily missed. It used to be called Base One Bar, but has been refurbished. Gets very popular in the evening, about 5:30. Very comfortable seats and the service is good too.

The Pentagon, Clapham

Undergoing a refurbishment at the moment

The Duke Of Cambridge, Stockwell

A two bar pub, right side English, left side Portugese. The English side has just had a paint job, so the regulars came into the other bar and the language was terrible, seems some people can't string a sentence together without at least 3 swear words. I prefer the Portugese side, I can't understand the language so it's more restful.

Coast, Bexhill-on-sea

Stain on the carpet looked like a dog, asked barman if the place was haunted. That was back in 2006

Traffers Bar, Bexhill-on-sea

Very nice place, tables in the front catch the sun.

The Bell Hotel, Bexhill Old Town

Bit untidy as they were doing building works and were throwing stuff out of the upstairs window into a skip. That was back in 2006

The Prince Albert, Camden

looks nice in the photo, but it is now closed and being converted into flats.

14 Jan 2007 07:08

The Castle, Notting Hill

My picture is from when it was called The Warwick Castle. It seemed better then.

The Little White Lion, Cobham

It was a great place when I visited a few years ago, very friendly staff and customers and very picturesque, as shown on my photo.
Judging by the comments/reviews, I won't go there again in a hurry.
