Sutton Staithe Hotel, Sutton

A selection of beer, not great but not bad.

The food was some of the best I have had in a pub.

The Swan, Horning

Had a delightful Sunday afternoon sat in the garden. But that probably says more about the weather than the pub itself.

My friend ended up waiting an hour for a bowl of chips (we think they forgot her order) but overall the food was good. Not the best selection of beer but there were some interesting summer cocktails.

The Hog in the Pound, Bond Street

A tourist trap in the worst sense. The toilets weren't working, there were dirty tables and the place lacked any atmosphere. The food was what we paid for (but since we were looking for somewhere cheap to eat that is not saying a lot.)

A return visit? Not a chance.

Falstaff, Brussels

More of a restaurant than a bar, decent food and a very poor beer selection.

Champion, Notting Hill

There weren't many people at the bar but it did seem an age to get served.

There was only one ale on, I wanted a glass of red wine as we were heading to a restaurant a bit later and I did not fancy mixing my drinks, I'm not to sure if I approve of wine on tap instead of from the bottle.

Will wait for a second visit before I make my mind up fully.

The Claret Free House, Addiscombe

Not a good place to go if you are a woman. (Was really out-numbered.)

But I will give it a second visit before I make mind up properly.

The Princess Louise, Holborn

I saw a glowing review in Thursday's Metro, as I was planning to be in the area today (Sunday) I thought I would pop in and was not disappointed.

Being my first visit I can not comment on the re-furb but the prices were decent. The Victorian interior is charming.

This place would get a 10/10 except I am based in Croydon and it is not, therfore it gets 9/10.

The Fox and Hounds, Heacham

v.impressed. I love the fact there's a brewery on site and the fact you can buy bottles of the there beer to take away.

Next time I'm in the area a return visit will definitely be on the cards.

The Metro Bar, Sidcup

We had to wait 45 minutes for chicken strips and salad (the salad had better days), the placed wasn't even a third full.

Actually whenever I have gone passed the place it has never been very full and I know why.

Bar Txt, Croydon

Nice Thai food in a lovely setting. A poor selection of drink (with the exception of wine). A bit of a way out of the centre of town but well worth the journey.

The Good Mixer, Camden

This place reminded me of a eightie's rugby club, lots of darkly painted tongue and groove on the walls, wooden benches to sit on and an odd lay out with the bar spanning the centre of the pub.

The bar staff were friendly and helpful and the prices were reasonable considering the location but the selection of drinks (especially the beer) wasn't great. I won't be rushing back.

The Half and Half, Croydon

The Beer Circus is still open - I was there last night.

O'Neills, Bromley

Not the best beer or a great selection, serivce was alright, music was loud, atmosphere was nothing special.

Basisly your average chain pub on a Saturday night.

The Treehouse, Croydon

We popped in for a couple of cocktails on the way home after an evening in Croydon.

There was a bar full of people waiting to be served and only one member of staff serving whilst the other bar staff were playing the card machine. For 5.95 a cocktail I have to say I was not that impressed, they could have been made a bit better (but that was probably because the lady that served us seemed in a hurry).

Minor complaints aside, there was a friendly atmosphere and it being a nice evening we got to sit in the very pleasent beer garden.

The New Drum, Tonbridge

A friendly boozer and on a residental street away from the centre. Perfect for a quick drink from the crowds following the tour de france.

There was the grand prix on all 3 big screen and a couple of real ales on tap and served in a jug.
Service was friendly and prompt.

Coombe Lodge, Croydon

Went there for Sunday lunch, we booked a table in advance, though busy the place was not full and nobody seemed to have a problem getting a table.

The food was good but not great and the portion's large, I got a lot of meat but not much veg. The staff were very accomidating as one of our party asked for something that was on the bar menu when we were in the restaurant.

I agree with the previous poster - great for a quick pint or a meal but I wouldn't bother for a night out.

The Half and Half, Croydon

Great selection of beer, nice relaxed atmosphere and friendly bar staff. The only thing keeping me from giving this place 10/10 is the slightly erractic opening times.

Hop Poles, Brighton

Friendly staff, good food with a prompt service....especially for a Saturday lunchtime.
Usual pub drinks, averagely priced.

Didn't haven't a problem with the clientale unlike fellow poster have suggested.

I will properly make a return visit next time I'm in the area.
