The Pig and Whistle, Newcastle

this is seriously the worst place in Newcastle! possible the whole NE. Just stick your head in the door, see the charvas and get out quick!

This place is alright, if you're a student (like me) who is just passing by (we usually go in here after Players @ the Gate) but be prepared to pay big money for anything! 3.10 for a Corona! You're having a laugh, do what i do and get your money's worth - 3.50 for cocktails - although i recently found out that they use milk in their Pina Coladas!!! DISGUSTING

The Leazes Inn, Newcastle

This is a great pub, good guest beers (Old Speckled Hen right now along with Green King IPA) and quiz nights on Sunday! nice and spacious, big screen for football games. Relaxed atmosphere, often frequented by students who live next to it (im one of them!) othersise it's empty (i.e. weekday nights when they are all out on the toon!)

Hoko 10, Newcastle

Quite nice, went to the "deal or no deal" night (among other visits) however the place emptied when what appeared to be one single group vacated, still a good atmosphere but made me realise how small it is.

Not bad, however the only music is that played on TV's tuned into music channels, I haven't been back since i was 16 and the overbearing bouncer wouldnt accept my photocopied passport, he then called the police of all things! Who arrived just as we had left Yates (a far better bar) and were already long gone off to another pub! The guinness was quite good - this was St Patricks day, so i tried the guinness in several places

Que Pasa, Chelmsford

Went to Que Pasa on a friend's recommendation that it was the best club in town. WRONG -it cost 2 to get in, took 20 minutes to get served (the first time!), small, cramped, music too loud for the size of the room, no atmosphere, no room to lift a bottle to your mouth let alone dance!! I have since relocated to Newcastle and this place is a joke compared to ANY club up here!

Ivory Peg, Chelmsford

Very nice place, a modern style Wetherspoons yet they serve a great range of beers including a few guest beers on hand pump, which were Old Speckled Hen, Independance (scots real ale) and another a couple of months back.

The Ship, Chelmsford

Great pub, used to be a Ridley's but since that brewery has been taken over it;s a Green king pub, still good though, serves IPA, Abbot Ale and many more beers, and they serve food which makes a very nice and reasonably priced lunch - i recommend the jacket potatoes

The Railway Tavern, Chelmsford

I'm astonished by the double attack on this pub and it's landlord, who i know, his name is Rick, his pub was the last which i drank in before leaving Chelmsford, it was a Black Sheep Ale, poured very well, as are all of the pints i've had the pleasure of drinking in this fine establishment. This is one of the few traditional pubs left so please don't knock it anymore, it's designed in the style of a train carriage, and they serve real ale! what more do you want?
