this is the best place in London to skive off work for the afternoon. Shame about the opening hours, though I could have happily staged long after 8pm.

The Charles Lamb, Angel, Islington

I thought this place was awesome. I was a little worried when we got there as the entire place was completely rammed and we were doubting if we'd get the chance to eat dinner. The staff were amazingly accomodating, squeezing us in between two large Xmas parties and even waiting on our table, although that's not what they usually do. The food was tasty and the resident dog was very sweet. I'll br going back for sure in a quiet afternoon rather than a mental Saturday night...

The Lincoln Lounge is genius! AND the sell desparado lager!! AND have pretty pictures on the wall! I want to move in there

The Driver, Kings Cross

Food and service can be decent on occasion but a tad hit and miss. Don't bother ordering anything but the house wines as the staff behind the bar a utterly confused by the fairly extensive list chalked up on the board. Our choice took at least 15 minutes of rummaging around in the cellar before a sheepish bar man appreached us hiding the label of the bottle he'd dug out (not what we wanted) before hastily yanking the cork out and doing a runner. We were so thirsty by this point we couldn't be bothered to protest. The steak was delicious though...
