Firebug, Leicester

I always go here when in town. Good Indie/Rock pub with bands upstairs. Beer on the more expensive side but on a night out in town where isn't? Nice to go down for drinks after work. Has small but pleasant beer garden , assuming it is not busy, when it is full of smokers (me included) is open late, do sometimes a good alternative to a club. It does get very busy at night though, and can be difficult to get a seat and not the cheapest of places

Cradock, Leicester

I obviously meant to say "Everards pub" in last comment

Cradock, Leicester

Everts pub that looks to be recently renovated, nice food and a lot of the floor plan seems to be set up for dining. Actually quite a big pub if you look around the corner from the bar. Normal range of everards beer on cask. Has a nice beer garden out back as well and is nice if sunny, if a little too pricey to go to too regularly.

The Lansdowne, Leicester

Nice bar, local O Bar chain with retro styled decor, and selection of cocktails. Serve some cask ale, but nothing extraordinary- Greene king IPA and the like. Really nice food on offer- love the wedges which are a mixture of potato and sweet potato. Nice for lunch, but also quite nice in the evening but like all places can get busy Friday/Saturday nights

The Time Bar, Leicester

Ok bar, good if waiting for a train or a stop off if you are mid crawl from London road way! Nothing too special, but the smoking area/garden is ok in the summer with plenty of tables. A little expensive, but is next to train station, so I suppose they can charge a premium for that. Sells itself as a cocktail bar, and have a nice selection, beer is all keg, but at least had freedom lager in there to buy instead of necks last time!

Last Plantagenet, Leicester

Wetherspoons. So cheap and full of dossers! Not even the best Wetherspoons in Leicester. Saying that though I still go back (even if it is only very occasionally- though I suspect this is more to do with the price rather than anything else). Like all Wetherspoons a decent selection of ales, but it is full of alchies.

The Pub, Leicester

The Pub is nice enough inside, modern interior with plenty of seating, although can get busy in the evenings. The best thing about the pub though is the massive selection of well kept beer. Loads of hand pumps- even the keg beer offered is a little more interesting than normal, with a good selection of bottles too! But mostly the cask! Nice to sit outside on a sunny day and watch people walking down new walk if you are waiting to meet someone. For the selection of beer on offer alone you can see why it wins camra pub of the year awards etc. but a little soulless compared to a proper old school boozer- but that does mean you can suggest it to non ale drinkers as a place to go rather than some more of the grottier places in town to get a drink of "real ale"

Old Horse, Leicester

A decent everards pub, with normally an ok guest ale or two. Beer festivals are good fun. Quirky interior with plenty of stuff to look at! But the main draw is the MASSIVE garden (with a tardis. and barn owls- you read that correctly!) Great place to go on a sunny day and sit and drink some nice beer.

Cricketers, Aylestone

Ok if you want a beer before the cricket. Other than that a typical estate pub- ok but nothing to write home about and a little rough around the edges. Everards pub with cask ale served.

Dry Dock, Leicester

It's a Scream pub, with all that entails- cheap booze, students and cheapish food (ok food for what it is) Popular with football/Rugby fans on match days. Wed nights is pound a drink night, but have a god awful dj with too loud music. Typical keg beers served. Staff are mixed bunch who range from the nice friendly and efficient end of the spectrumto the downright rude. But hey, it's a scream pub, what'd you expect?

Bar Dos Hermanos, Leicester

Nice Cuban style bar with tapas restaurant attached. Do a selection of cocktails. Cask beer on offer too, with Black Sheep Best seeming to be a perennial. Can be busy on Fri/Sat nights, and a little pricey, but nice enough.

Babelas Continental Bar, Leicester

I really like Babelas, small but friendly. If go when busy can be difficult to find a seat. Timmy Taylor Landlord and Castle Rock Harvest Pale with one of the Oakham Ales are cask ales on offer. Nice selection of continental beers too. And the cheese boards served are great!
