Lovely old world pub just outside the urban sprawl of Harlow.
Excellent gravity fed beers.

The Hamilton Hall, Liverpool Street
Not the best Wetherspoons, but probably one of the busiest.
Pubs next to railway stations can often be disappointing, but this one could be a lot worse.
Reasonably priced drinks and decent food.
Overall a good place to while away the hours spent waiting for cancelled/delayed trains.

A timeless classic.
Nice busy atmostphere and serves a good pint of Young's.
Many is the time I've been lured in there on the way back to Liverpool Street.
How times change: this pub, along with most in the City, used to close before 9pm and you wouldn't get served unless you were wearing a suit...

Good beers all week. Youngsters Fri/Sat. Mixed crowd the rest of the time.
Bands can be good on Sat night (extension).

Great real ale pub in Hertford.
Top tip: chill out in the large sofas upstairs while your mate struggles to carry a tray of beers up the steep stairs

Great place to try a pint of 'Ordinary'.
Just set back from the trendy river front.
Small and intimate. Lovely..

Great little local.
Youngs beer usually good.
Still had a pool table the last time I was in there.

The only pub in Oxford Street.
Great place to arrange to meet someone.
Beer OK too.
This pub was always about a year or two ahead in terms of its beer pricing. Seems to be more in line with everwhere else these days.

One of only a few 'coins in a pint glass' type strip pubs that are left now.
The glory days were probably about 10 years ago - who remembers the Norfolk Punch, Spread Eagle, Rose and Crown, Seven Stars... the list went on!
Get in before 5pm and relax the gentleman's way.

Never been the same since they got rid of the 'exotic dancers'. My God they were exotic - some of them came from as far as Hackney.

The Barge has been a favourite pub for years now.
Nice real ales and a relaxed old world atmostphere by the river. Enjoy.

Limited choice of poor quality beers.
A mecca for the young and stupid.

The Old Cross Tavern, Hertford
Good beer, good service and no gimmicks.
One of the top 3 pubs in Hertford.

A little gem of a pub. Great location and usually one two very good beers on offer.
Not ideal if you have a fear of confined spaces..

This pub gets my vote for having the least politically correct toilets in Swindon. (Think 1970's locker room pin ups).

The Bedroom has a big square shaped room downstairs, and a slightly less square shaped room upstairs.
Whilst the layout is positively dull, the clientele are far more colourful.
Lord knows what these people do for a living, but they scare the life out of me.

Beer is reasonable, but probably a little over priced.
Atmostphere has always been a little lacking.
Like my old school report this one's is 'Could do better'.

The larger of the two Wetherspoons, the Savoy manages to be fairly busy mid-week - in complete
contrast to most of Swindon's town centre bars/pubs which only come alive at the weekend.
Their secret? Cheap, decent beer, a relaxed atmostphere and food when you want it.

Basically a local boozer on the edge of the Freshbrook estate.
Beer surprisingly good considering.
You can watch anything you like on the TV as long as it involves 22 overpaid nancy boys chasing after a little ball.

The Walkabout is fairly typical of the cavernous pubs in the town centre.
Its generally pretty quiet mid-week but comes to life Friday/Saturday with avengence.
The usual Aussie beers on tap and bottled VB bitter .
A bank of video screens line the bar area, presumeably to keep you amused while you queue to
be served.

This branch of the O'Neils empire is pretty much the same as all the others in the UK.
Not really bad, but immediately forgetable.

Mbargo has a reputation for trouble, which I decided to test.
To be fair I didn't get into a fight. Then again, it was a Tuesday and I was the only person in there.
Staff were friendly (to me at least) and if you like fizzy beers this is probably OK for you.

Although smaller than the other Wetherspoons in Swindon, the Grove Company Inn probably gets my
vote for speed of service.
The usual Wethers menu is on offer, in addition to a good range of very reasonably
priced beers.
I've always found the bar staff to be friendly and efficient.

The flag serves Arkell's and is a good place to listen to live music, especially mid-week.
Large comfy sofas are available when it's not too busy.
5 Dec 2006 10:51
The Casbah certainly knows who it wants as customers -and if you're over 21 it aint you.
Bars with bouncers are usually bad news, and this one is no exception.
Nasty.
5 Dec 2006 10:49
This pub is completely empty Monday to Wednesday.
Last time I looked in there on a Tuesday evening threre was someone pushing a vacuum cleaner around.
I dont' think they even try until the weekend.

The Scarbrough Hotel, Leeds
Great place to meet near the railway station.
Good selection of fine beers always on offer.
Plenty of atmostphere, especially on match days...
