The Strathmore Arms, St Pauls Walden
Top top pub this with a landlord who understands how to keep his ale in great condition. Great pub in the summer months as a good size garden.

Another visit and again great range of local real ales. This place seems to be overlooked and its a mistake as its very welcoming and great beer. Im very much warming to this place. Solid 8/10

Pickering needs a good pub but this isnt it im affraid. In the Camra good pub guide but not sure why as Timmy T's not great but did get a warm welcome by bar staff. Would go back but only if passing, wouldnt go out my way to return

Agree that this pub should be open more...beautiful day with excellent conditioned ale but closed at 3. Please check opening hours for a visit, if not for the beautiful setting, the great beer check the quirkiness of the place.
One of the most enjoyable pubs ive been too.

Awful area. Not worth popping in for a quick one even if you are passing

This pub is a must! Excellent bar staff, friendy and great service. Good range of ever changing guest ales with Crouch Vale's Brewers gold a regular and tasting very good. I would recommend this pub as friendy, great service and great beer

The ratcliffe arms has not place on here as its a restaurant not a pub. Did manage to get in for a pint but what a big let down this place is!

Some strange negative comments on here regarding this manchester pub. I think its a little gem with great beer. If you looking for music blasting out and loads of girls to chat up then its not really for you but if you want good beer and a chat with your mates then its hard to top. Cant wait for next visit.

Great beer and if you like Tai food then give this place ago (also do take away).

How this pub is in the good beer guide i will never understand. Landlady and bar staff are awful and the ale not much better! With so many other pubs around dont bother with this one!

The Mad Bishop and Bear, Paddington
Open at 8am so why not have a full english and a pint of Tribute before you travel. Good breakfast and good pint

Busy lunchtime pub during the week from office workers. Food is good, the Thai green curry is well worth a go. As for ale not so good, Pride is drinkable but suffer later! Pub looks very strange from the outside and very much looks out of place. If you miss your train you could pop for one, but better pubs around for a drink, but food is good.

The Briton's Protection Hotel, Castlefield
Went to this place after reading the reviews on here...thanks to all as this is a great pub. Great Irish barmaid, well worth the visit

Made my first visit last year and loved the place. Ever changing guest ales which were of great quaility (loved the Hornbean Lemon blossom) and during my time up in Manchester i can recmmend the food. Visited again this year and its still great...funny how my meetings end just as this gem opens!!

Love this place and often visit from Hitchin. Great ever changing guest ales and always to a good standard. The place is great in summer with its huge seating area at the back and great in winter indoors next to the fire.
Its be said before me but have to say one of the best in the UK!

Made my first visit last month and its not somewhere i would take the wife but for a cheeky couple with a pal it made for a good couple of hours. Landlady was very welcoming and seemed to know her ales. Good range of local ales. Hard to rate this pub, for the ales its great but something about the place that just didnt do it for me.

The Rugglestone Inn, Widecombe in the Moor
Lovely pub and a must if in the area. 4 local ales on and very well conditioned so try all 4, food very good and the portions are massive (not a bad thing). If the sun is out the large garden seating area is lovely, dogs must be kept on leads, this may have something to do with the roaming ducks :)
Top venue!!
