Visit this pub far too often. It's a little bit tatty but the quiz is awesome and they always seem to have an interesting range of beers on. The ale changes pretty regularly so I guess they go through quite a lot. I've not eaten here but it looks alright and pretty cheap. It gets rammed during the day so you might struggle for a table. Oh and theres jugs of tap water on the bar so you don't have to put up with the pitiful look on the bar man's face when you ask, unless you want ice in it.

The Oxford is the only place in Manchester where the bar staff (think it was the duty manager of all people) have been so rude that I have left vowing never to return again. He started off by saying he wasn't going to serve people in our group (basically because they were enjoying themselves when he was having a bad day!). No one was drunk. Once he realised this himself he served everyone. He then decided it was his duty to antagonise everyone in our group for the rest of night, among other things, saying we were bein too loud when we were talking amongst ourselves quietly about the pub quiz!. This guy was so stressed he had facial twitches. He needs to get life because he's obviously a pathetic loser and he totally ruined our night when no one was acting out of order in any way! Would not recommend this pub to anyone!

Yes sorry, let me quantify my comment.
The bar does indeed support three , possibly four handpumps, but only one was on during my visit.
I'm not sure I would use the adjective, tasty, for the one that was, but I fully appreciate that I may not have caught The Oxford at its best on my mid week afternoon visit, and therefore bow to the greater knowledge of the poster below.
And I wont bore you about my views on a Cask Marque accreditation.

I thought this place was a Wetherspoons when I walked in, fairly big expanse of a building that looked like it was formerly something else other than a pub, plastic food menus on every table, lots of cheap drinks offers everywhere, and a chain pub feel. But the lack of real ales gives it away as being some other chain.
I guess this place is very good if you are a student (especially one in the close by halls) or a worker at the MRI.
But I am neither, so probably wont bother to come back. But for the rest of you, enjoy, especially the cheap drink offers

Can take the previous comments on board. No mature drunks this time round.A pub that is obviously part of some sort of chain;like a Goose. Two young female barstaff were putting up a super show;as usual understaffed.Guinness cheap and excellent.Food looked decent as well.A student centred place, but engaging nonetheless. Will give it a go,when visiting the Whitworth gallery.
