Alas, Paddy and the family have left for pastures new so this is no longer the friendly, welcoming boozer it used to be. Haven't been there since the change in June 2008 robfsg - 8 Jul 2008 11:57
Since my review on 6th June, the friendly Irish guy has disappeared and there are now two dubious Polish women 'running' it. Today they couldn't even offer lemonade, or straws. Can't complain though, because yesterday one charged me £2.75 for a pint of lemonade and a Pimms. Bargain! The only draw now is the pool table. Someone seriously needs to give this place a bit of TLC because it could be great. BlackCherry - 26 Jun 2008 21:13
As this place is spitting distance from our office, we often end up there at lunch for a quick drink and it's perfectly fine. The Irish guy behind the bar is lovely and the fish finger sandwiches make a childishly excellent change to Pret's offerings. The pool table is popular but it has a strange, dark atmosphere - maybe that's just because it's quiet when we go, but it does seem to lack warmth. Ideal if you want somewhere relaxed to read your paper and enjoy your pint at lunchtime though. BlackCherry - 6 Jun 2008 02:25
The issue regarding the guinness on the 15th october has been addressed. Apologies for the bad pint I will do my upmost to keep the guinness at its best. Patrick. pjjmoran - 25 Oct 2007 21:23
The best Guinness in Smithfield?! A watery, terrible pint of plain with no body or taste whatsoever. For a pub run by an Irishman, I was flabbergasted to see the barmaids level off the head of the Guinness with a dirty aul spatula before serving them up, as if they were pouring a bl**dy demi of Heineken on the Champs-Élysées! And whats more, all this went on with the landlord (who is Irish may I repeat!) looking on happily. Guinness doesn't travel well? Well certainly not to The Wicked Wolf it doesn't. Friendly place all the same. bernardshakey - 15 Oct 2007 15:33
