| Excellent Sunday lunch and really good prices. Got rave reviews in DET and from Camra. Friendly pub with a good choice of well kept real ale, Bass in a jug and on tap. Quiz night on a Sun with beer prizes, regular meat raffle and entertainment throughout the year from some cracking bands. | The correct name of the pub is the Pattenmaker's Arms...a back-street pub, though only just off the main through-road in the village. It has a large horseshoe island bar with an area behind it through openings either side, and a pool table in an open area opposite the bar. Unusual layout, with the kitchen and a storeroom off to one side through doors that I think may have once been the toilets, as they are now accessed through a lobby at the back into a much more recent extension. Also an upstairs room for functions and bands. Very friendly welcome during the Easter Beerfest, which had some very decent local ales on, including a barrel of Nutbrook Autumn Ale, the only one in existence as all other beer from this brew has been bottled. | Pleasant enough backstreet local. Main bar on entering has a pool table and not much seating but the area behind the bar has tables and seats. Four ales on - Pedigree, Bass, Landlord and Salamander Whirlygig. Went for the latter which was okay... second pint of it was much better though. Food is pretty cheap - a crowd of pensioners payed less for a meal than one average joe would pay for a Cosat coffee and a few loose pistachio nuts. Snarling_Mallard - 25 Jun 2011 22:18 |
