Excellent pint of Guinness served with the traditional shamrock in the creamy head. Very good bar staff and friendly local, superb.

Great pub, food, staff and drinks, B&B facilities
We stayed in the Peels for one night and we enjoyed every minute in the environment, the staff and owners are more than friendly, happily engaging in conversation and banter. The greatness of the place is reflected in the service and many charity boxes and collections they have around the pub although there is no pressure for u to donate. The Pub runs events for local and non locals alike that are free to enjoy and it seems everyone was taking full advantage of it.
The Peels were more than happy to cater for our fussy needs and were always happy to help. The food was great home cocking and plenty of it. Bed and breakfast facilities were plentiful to a highly polished standard with not a fork out of place.
Everything is just as we would have wanted and it was proven to be just that by winning pub of the year in 2010. No complaints, its a must try place and I can guarantee you go back for more, we certainly will be.

thankyou for a lovely stay to all the staff

Rang up midday to confirm what time food was being served until...9pm was the reply.

Our party of 4 turned up a little later than anticipated from our bike ride but arrived at 8.50pm.We was told that would couldnt have any food as the ovens were now turned off...Ah.... So we asked of we could have sandwiches or if there was anything cold ?.. No was the reply,"if we served you we couldnt have everything cleaned away for 9pm and thats when the serving staff go home"..

We were obviously hungry and dissapointed, but thought we would make the best of it and have a drink and a chat...

2 pints of bitter and 2 pints of lager and 2 bags of cheese and onion crisps later i was relieved of 14.70,and just sat down feeling that i had just been overcharged..

Onto the next round of drinks and true to form, the prices was the same..

We sat in the pub for around 2 hours and apart from 2 other customers we was sat on our own...

Im not suprised to be quite honest.

When pubs should be doing everything they can to please the customer, this place left me cold and unwanted..After drinking there off and on for many years i now feel that this will be my final visit.

I hope they buck there idea's up !!

The pub has great character and is obviously highly thought of within the area. As we entered the pub on a busy Friday evening everyone seemed to be lapping up the atmosphere.
We entered in the main bar to ask for a table and although it was busy we were asked to wait for a short while whilst a table was set for us in the dining room. Once seated, we were given menus and a special board, both of which exceed our expectations, but we had to endure a short wait for our order to be taken. It was apparent from here staffing was an issue. One waitress was serving what I would estimate as about 15 tables and one bar tender was serving drinks; the staff however were extremely convivial although it was clear to see the pressure. The chef was even making the odd appearance out of the kitchen to help with proceedings. Despite this our order was taken and the food arrived that was cooked and presented to perfection, our drinks were kept topped up and the food was ample. I can say we ate three courses of delightfully satisfying food. Recommending the creamy garlic mushrooms as a starter. To bring to a close my review on this pub I do recommend you giving it a visit, the food cannot be complained about in any way, a traditional country pub is exactly what you get and I will be making another visit very soon( I just hope for the sake of the staff there is more of them).
