This is Stone's branch of Wetherspoons. It was actually quite quiet for a Saturday evening in November. There were plenty of spare tables. The usual Greene King Abbot, Ruddles Best & Sharp's Doom Bar were on. But they also had Slater's Columbia Coffee Stout, Oakham JHB, Salopian Oracle & Shepherd Neame Bishop's Finger. They don't stock real cider as according to the barman there is apparently no demand for it. Still a 6/10 though, as the quietness meant that the atmosphere wasn't quite as rowdy as many branches of 'spoons.

Right in the town centre, it is an old Post Office.

Really a typical Spoons, although the service was fairly good. Better than many.

Not quite sure what to post about this place. Iíve been twice and had totally different experiences. The first time was early evening, and there was a pleasant mixed crowd inside, and I had no trouble getting served. The second time was at lunchtime, when post people seemed to be toothless geriatrics ordering rounfs of coffees. Needless to say that meant the service was ridiculously slow. The three staff members didnít even think to try and serve someone else, but queued up to use the coffeemaker !!

4/10 Ė 6 for early evening, 2 for lunchtime!

A typical JDW pub, with the usual understaffing.

Two very well kept pints on my midweek mini tour of Stone. Typical spoons but quality of beer very high especially as both i had were the first ones out of the pumps that morning.
