One of Dorking's finest old buildings. I recommend anyone visiting for this reason alone. Not exactly amazing food for everyone, but as for traditional Dorking this is really good. PubMessenger - 24 Aug 2008 11:13
My Grandmother used to take me (and family) here many moons ago - and the place was old then! It's even older now though it still has not learnt that customer is king and this place is here for them and not the other way around. I have tried quite hard to organise events here in an effort to spend serious amounts of cash, all to no avail. The place looks old fashioned (part of it's charm I guess) but the service is also old fashioned. I'd go there to remind me of what going out in the UK used to be like – hard work, expensive and were reminded of the nuisance you were causing, roll on faulty towers. Shame it could be something to be proud of but I think I'd rather stay home. nicktheflick - 23 Aug 2007 18:44
has a poor reputation, but no where near as bad as people seem to think it is a pub with real character. leo_1 - 31 Jul 2006 02:31
Excellent pub. Old fashioned. No poseurs allowed. Pub grub=sandwiches and pork scratchings. kitcat - 9 Mar 2006 12:47
Ah, the Snakepit. Not for a romantic evening with the missus, but it does have a certain charm and really cheap sandwiches. anotherpintplease - 24 Feb 2006 12:17
