Early evening visit 2 days ago. Had an excellent pint of Landlord. Quite a smart interior with screens showing Rugby League on my visit. Decent pool table. Good atmosphere. the_amsterdam_man - 16 Jun 2007 21:03
Medium sized open plan pub with a nice beer garden at the back. Out of all the Taylor's pubs in the town, the Royal Oak has the nicest food. fairport79 - 14 Feb 2007 23:37
This and The Albert over the road were the first to get a modern makeover when Charles Dent took the helm at the Taylor's Brewery a few years back. In fact, I think it's had another face-lift since then. Attracts a young crowd and has doormen at the weekends. A bit more 'lively' than yer average Taylor house. Handy for a pint before a visit to the mighty Shimla Spice almost next door, though personally i prefer the quieter Friendly Inn 'round the corner. Albert_Campion - 24 Feb 2006 20:50
