I would rate The Star as one of the better pubs in Penzance.Nothing special to look at,but the meals were much better than you might expect and it's the best place to watch the footy. Can't comment on the beer quality as I always stuck to Strongbow in here.

have been in the star for many years when in town, always found it a good place to eat and drink in the past, however, our most recent weeknight visit saw it a sadder place, from the for sale sign outside to the empty interior, still, the food that we ordered was spot on and the beers we had very drinkable, i think that wetherspoons is having its effect on the town centre as we went in later and it was rammed. hope that the star can find its way again as it looks a bit run down inside now.

This could be the best pub in town. It isn't. Quiet, apart from when discos or events are on and a little bit rough.

Didn't really take much notice of the exterior at the time I visited as it was pouring down with rain. I just ran to the closest pub with several friends. Unfortuntaely, it was here. Uninterested bar staff - some joker with floppy hair and a tie who couldn't really care less we were paying customers. The ale selection was sub-standard. We're I Cornwall I thought as I glanced through the generic line-up of Bombadier and whatever else was there I didn't fancy. Luckily a friend called me, so I spent most of my time outside on the phone. But it was one of those places crammed with fruit machines, locals and not much else. Won't bother returning.
