An excellent well kept pub with friendly staff and generally good humoured clientele. The smoking area is unusually comfortable and popular with smokers and non smokers alike. The garden is great for kids offering pet rabbits and free(yes free!) air hockey and table football.

Excellent pub to down a quick jar whilst on a night out. Has friendly bar staff, a good pool table and an excellent beer garden, which looks more like a normal back garden. The table football is also a right touch and has caused many a funny moment after a few drinks.

Not a bad pub. Friendly bar staff but the clientel are mostly 30+. Pool table at the front is reasonable, although not much room to manoveur your cue. Courage Best and London Pride still the two casks and are always reasonable. Recently stocked Gaymers cider but have now switched to Original Bulmers which is a huge disappointment.

Beer garden towards the back is a plus though. Table football is available for free which is always a good laugh.

Backstreet local in a specialised shopping area: there's a shop selling polish food, a colonic irrigation shop, a dress designer and a jewelry repairer among the take-aways and other local shops. The couple running the pub are cheerful and friendly; they have a nice terrier who scampers around the bar, and three plump rabbits in the peaceful and attractive beer garden. Two casks - Courage Best and London Pride - served at the traditional temperature which allows the flavour to come through, though is less refreshing than we are used to these Cask Marque days. All in all a very nice pub.

The pub is named after a defunct local brewery that expanded throughout its 170 history until it was bagged by Courage. I decided to visit as the name is also emblazoned in tiling on the extrior of Tha Man of Kent in Rochester (q.v.)
What a mistake. There is nothiung basically wrong here. Service was prompt and cheerful and the locals didn't have grazed knuckles ( from scraping along the pavement! ) I had a pint of London Pride which was past its best. I imagine they don't sell too much proper beer, as only one of three hand pumps were in operation.
If you have approached this pub from Week Street, you'd be well advised to walk another 250 yards.
Disappointing - 5/10
