user reviews of Swan Hotel, Wilmslow

It was a nice place once, but now seems well worth avoiding. More specifically, we currently have an Italian postgraduate staying with us, well over 18 years old. He has just tried to go for Sunday lunch. He was dressed in smart casuals, completely sober, but the less than charming young blond male (with spectacles) at the bar refused point blank either to serve him, or to give any reason why he was so refusing. Our student speaks perfectly good English, but with a strong Italian accent and one does wonder whether this was racism, or just ignorance.

Very unfriendly staff, and landlord. Disgusting excuse for a toilet.
My car was clamped in the car park, while myself and my pregnant fiancee were having a coffee in the pub! Would not release us without paying a 90 fine. Complete scum, will never visit this pub ever again and nor will my friends or family. What a disgusting way to treat a heavily pregnant customer (9 mths).

Not nice, only stop if you're desperate for a quick fight.

I went into this pub with my husband I was wearing a small felt hat as cancer treatment has given me patchy baldness. The pub apparently has a no hat policy so I was asked to remove it which was embarassing. I feel such a policy should be made clear before entering- not a pub I'd use again.
