| 'Don't go to Canning Town', they told me. Apparently it's full of dodgy characters, well that's according to the public school nancies. Well get this. I've been going to pubs in Winchester for two decades. NEVER, have I been welcomed in a boozer like I was in the Ordinance Arms last week. Popped in for a quick pint; half an hour later I'm standing at the bar with some excellent blokes - all drunk, one with his pet snake - having a right old laugh. Asked the bloke where the snake came from. 'Canning Tahn, mate, she's a f*cking cockney', he answered before we all collapsed into our pints of Carling and the snake sipped another spillage from the counter. London, I love you.
