Decent enough JDW pub. Good choice of ales, staff friendly and mixed bag of customers. Only drawback is that this has probably one of the longest walks to the toilets.

Not a bad Wetherspoons with a couple of interesting guest ales on when I visited. Very busy (it's in a little street with many bars/clubs) but didn't wait long to get served. Usual JDW fare and offers.

Called in on Saturday after visiting the Bell. It was packed full of shoppers, buggys and untethered brats. We didn't bother having a drink. Shame it's normally better than this, but then again I've always called in at night before.

I agree with reynard's review of Nov 2008, this is one of the better JDWs. I have probably been in about once every two months this year and it has definitely improved - and yes it needed to.

So, if you have to visit a JDW when in Nottingham, then go there.

called recently on a saturday day out to nottingham.
first impression was of a reasonably smart pub, converted from an older building.
***
inside was of a fairly modern design, about 3 large rooms and bar area, done out in open plan style. seating for something like 100. there is a smallish upstairs gallery, with a smokers area and toilets. The place seems very popular and well used, but is kept fairly tidy.
***
the bar staff were trying hard to keep up with the busy trade, but there was a 45 minute delay on meals. there were 15 cask pumps and I think 13 were in use, all with different ales. This was quite impressive to say there wasn't "festival" on. We tried the Abbot and Lees autumn gold. both were quite acceptable.
standard jdw menu. the fish & chips and 5-bean chilli were quite good, but we had a long wait as said earlier. this was around 4pm.

verdict:
Pleasant place, but struggles to cope when it gets busy. Nice choice of beers. Would be happy to call again.
