One of the newer pubs and it still maintains novelty value for some. The beer is OK and the service is solid

Decided to visit this pub during thick snow spell on Saturday as it was across the road from where we were staying. Whilst the pub itself is clean and tidy, the service was abysmal. I requested an Amaretto only to be met by an emphatic 'No'. Not 'Sorry we haven't' just a 'No'. The food was cafe standard, chips still white, chicken rubbery and the bacon inside was cremated. The landlady was just as ignorant as the guvnor who never acknowledged my existence as he refilled the till. The young lad who eventually took my order was helpful and well mannered.
I would recommend this pub if you just wanted a beer to kill an hour before a visit to the chapel of rest.

I came her a few years ago whilst at college for a couple of drinks, nothing exciting but a alright pub with large varity of drinks and really large bar. Was in the area the other day and decided to eat here, as there seemed to be alot of people doing so, resonable (ish) priced food but no alot of veggi choice (was already expecting this so really was'nt a problem). Food arrived within 5mins max of ordering which usually isnt a problem but after tasting the food it was obvious that it had been out for hours and just reheated. The portions were tiny and the food very very poor quality. NOT worth visiting to eat here!

Tried out the new menu yesterday, quite acceptable main meals, but unfortunately the meanest portion of bread I have ever seen in a pub restaurant in my life, not only was it only one slice for 95p, but it didn't even match a standard size of a slice of bread. Congratulations for adding to the "Rip off Britain" ethos with this side order. I will most likely still use this pub now and again due to it's location, and the fact it has a useful non-smoking area, but I wont be singing it's praises.
